Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

It was fun being at a new place.

Confession...I've discovered something new about myself
I've always liked Disney products, the park, the movies, especially for their "family values". I never had to worry about my girls being exposed to negative ideas if they watched Disney, but I never wanted to go to DL or WDW every year, although I've been several times to DL over my life. I didn't buy lots of Disney products. When I began reading the PP forums, I found many of you were really big Disney fans, which is great, it just wasn't me. Recently, I've been thinking about our trip and how wonderful and magical it was. Just really enjoying the memories and everything we did, but especially how I felt while at WDW property. Thinking what I'd do when I go back, I've never done that with any trip I've taken! I was trying to explain to DH how I felt, the only answer I could give was that it had to do with staying on site was a truly magical experience. I understood what other passporters meant by the Disney bubble. DH, DD and I talked about what we would do for our next family vacation after we got back from WDW, and there was interest in a cruise, both DD and I wanted to try Disney and DH agreed since it was what we wanted (he's a sweetheart). Now, since I discovered I REALLY want to go back to WDW, staying on site of course, I've been trying to figure out how to make that happen. I would love to take my grandsons, and oldest DD wants to try Disney cruise.
We've talked about smaller frequent trips to several places (not Disney) or 2 bigger trips; one road trip around the U.S (maybe with a stop at DL), and a Europe trip for DD's high school graduation. I've always wanted to go to Europe and so far haven't been, taking her for graduation is an great way for me to go! Anyway, I asked DD to list her 1st, 2nd, etc choices for vacations, her list was...#1 Disney Cruise tied with U.S. road trip, #2 WDW, #3 DL, #4 Hawaii (only because we've talked about before). "Anything Disney would be best" was her main answer. I found I agree with DD! Anything Disney would be best! oh dear, I now have the bug. LOL
The idea I'm toying with is saving up for the two bigger trips, a U.S. road trip (cutting out 1/3 - 1/2 of original places) so that we could include Florida with both a cruise and WDW. DD's request that daddy come too, and I think he's close to agreeingif can work out his work schedule. DD wants to share the Disney magic with him. Then Europe for DD's graduation, going to Disneyland Paris, of course! The main reason I'm pretty sure I've got the Disney "bug" is yesterday I was planning places for ADR's, how I could arrange a longer WDW stay and this trip would be 2 1/2 years from now! , Ummm, is a 5 day cruise and 2 weeks on property too long? naaah. LOL. I know I can share with my fellow passporters because you will understand. Thanks for listening to my confession (grinning).

Was a little surprised but happy. I'm excited about the upcoming trips even if I'm waiting 2 & 1/2 years and then 3 years for Europe. Somethings are worth waiting for.

We are in the same boat. We went !* months ago and got the Disney bug big time. My husband wants to go for a full two weeks next time. I'm not sure we can swing that, but we are looking at ten days. We are looking at Boston and Europe as trips to do in the future also, but I am most excited about Disney lol. I know you all here would understand.

That's is the great thing about passporters, everyone here does understand and is so encouraging, supportive, and fun! It's cool that your husband wants to go longer. My DH has been 1 day to WDW and the only thing he remembers (long time ago) is who went with, that it was HOT, they went on some ride and got wet and because it was so hot they ducked in a ride with no line to get out of the sun and it was IASW. LOL. Also, DH is a very big guy and concerned about 'fitting'. I told him yesterday that WDW is large size people friendly. I'm really hoping he'll agree to come this time, especially since DD has asked him to come.

Sunday, May 29th, Animal Kingdom continued

After KS we headed over to the 1st Nemo show, gave us a chance to sit, in a cool room out of the sun as it was getting quite hot and watch an amazing show. All three of us really liked this show.

Here's a few pics.

Bro really likes photography and I love his pics! Hope you enjoy them.

Tell you DH that I'm sure he will be fine. My hubby is tall and "pooh sized" and the only rides he had an issue with were Astro Orbiter and.... I'm blanking out at the name, but the liitle car ride, where kids drive the cars. His shoulders were the problem, not his middle.

Sunday, May 29th, Animal Kingdom continued

Lunch was next, so we made our way to Restrauntosaur, not my choice but had researched and knew there was food DD would like. Gave Bro a couple of other options/ideas and he decided to walk over to Flame tree BBQ for himself and would meet us outside Restrauntasaur after we were all done. This was my first time with DDP, I had gotten the QS plan free and paid the $10 a day per person upgrade to have a TS. I have said I love a deal and this was no exception, I figured for our $30 a day we ate about $175 in food a day between the QS, snack, and TS we were allotted. (I just re-read the previous sentence and sounded a little funny so to clarify, we got Disney priced food worth $175 a day.)

After entering the restraunt, told DD to look for a table while I got food, managed to figure everything out easily. Picked up food, made a stop at the drink station, got napkins etc, I am a messy person and need lots of napkins . Began looking for DD, she had managed to find a table, although she said 2 separate adults and 1 set kids tried to talk her out of the table. We enjoyed sitting and having a bite, I didn't remember to take pics until dinner, DD had nuggets and FF. I think I had a burger. While we were eating, at least 2 or 3 more people asked us when we would be done, it was busy!

Headed outside to meet Bro, he said his lunch was good, BBQ pork sandwich, I believe. Started a slow...stroll to the Asia trail, found some water on the way to wet our hats. I remember doing the Asia trail but cannot find pics. I remember the bats, there were a bunch! I remember the tigers, magnificant! DD remembers monkeys, and the bird enclosure. By now it's almost time to make our way to CMM for TLK show and we were warm, very warm.

Here's Bro strolling along, he's a laid back kind of guy (99% of the time).

The heat was getting to DD and we had run out of water when I snapped this, I asked what that look was for? We were in WDW!

This was her response .

DD says this is the monkey house, she just asked why do I not trust her? It has nothing to do with trust, its my memory that doesn't work as well as it used to.

Have a great day!
