As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

OK I TOTALLY don't remember the "bathroom is really clean" comment. But, you have to give me credit for not rolling my eyes. It must be because I really, really like you. But, now that I know you a little better... . That's seriously cracking me up!
Yeah, what were we nuts? I'm tired just thinking about that wake-up call after that long night. Can't wait for more!

I'm SOOOOO relieved that you don't remember it, Karen -- it makes me burn with shame to think of it. (Well, not THAT dire, but I was totally embarrassed! )
And I love you too, man!
I'm trying to blaze through this TR so I can start working on my pre-trip for DISNEYLAND! (which is only 27 days away at this point!)

Wonderful updates, Eileen! I remember those pooper-scoopers. My DNs and I joked that that was the one job at Disney that we'd never do! Can't wait for more!

Re: Festing with Far-flung Friends - Mousefest 2005 - Day 2/part 6 - updated 2/17
<font color="blue"> <u>Friday, December 2, 2005 - Day 3</u>
At 6:50, the phone rang. I groaned. What were we thinking – an early character breakfast the morning after a late-night MVMCP?
At 6:51, the secondary alarm went off. I groaned again. This time, Calder groaned too.
Man, if we didn’t know that Karen and Zack would be waiting for us, I think the two Lloyds would’ve rolled over and slept until 9 or 10. But, we DID have Karen and Zack waiting for us and it was for a character breakfast that I knew Calder would love. So I rolled out of bed and hit the shower. By 7:15, Calder was up and brushing his teeth.
We opened our door to find it cool and sunny. This time I made sure that Calder had on his hoodie! When we got out to the bus depot, there was one sitting there. I peeked at its marquee to see where it was heading and totally cracked up.
Do all special character breakfast buses use this marquee?
We double-checked with the driver and he was headed to the Magic Kingdom – Yippee! We climbed on board. Just as we were about to drive off, someone pointed out that a wheelchair guest was waiting. The driver hopped out and started the process of getting this person on. I’m not sure why, but it took forever and we weren’t so ahead of schedule that this didn’t start to worry me. Well, finally we were ready to go again, when another guest pointed out that there was a spilled cup of coffee on one of the seats and she was afraid that it’d slosh around once we started moving. The busdriver sighed (and I sighed with him!) before coming back with a towel to clean it up. FINALLY, we were on our way. We zipped around the resort to find that no other guests were waiting for the special bus. Phew — we were off!
We hopped out at the MK to see an ENORMOUS crowd of people in red and white standing in the area in front of the train station. Ooooh, the filming of the parade! Well, the crowds looked so huge that I knew we wouldn’t be going anywhere near the MK today.
We dashed up the monorail ramp feeling pretty good about how well we made up time from the slow start. The front was already filled, so we hopped in the first open car. And sat there. And sat there some more. After a little bit, we sat there a few more minutes. Ack! Now we were going to be late again! I called Karen’s cell phone and a very sleepy Ms. Weiss answered. “Don’t tell me you’re canceling! Because I dragged Zack all the way here!” Nope… we’re on our way… well, we HOPE we’ll be on our way ... soon! Just then, the monorail started moving and it was a quick trip around the loop till we could hop off at the Poly. As we dashed around the upper floor, Calder spotted some Stitch merchandise and came to a complete halt. I backtracked, grabbed his hoodie and propelled him along to ‘Ohana.
Zack was collapsed in a chair and Karen looked barely more awake than her boy. She had already checked us in and the buzzer had just gone off, but they allowed us to get our portrait taken.
Woopie… we all look so energized in it!
Our cousin (who’s name I couldn’t remember because I was barely awake) led us back to our table. It was a different section than I’d been in before and it was nice to be right by the window. When our server offered coffee, Karen and I responded before she had finished her sentence. Yes… coffee… NOW!
When our food came out, the boys dug in for the waffles. I gobbled up eggs like they were going out of style – Yum! I love scrambled eggs! I sampled the breakfast meats again and they were as tasty as they’d been in November ’04.
The characters started coming around and I watched my boy watching his blue friend. He was good when Lilo and Pluto came – but I could tell he was waiting for Mr. 626 and no one else would do. Pluto was dancing around so I told him that he looked like he was “rockin’ out!” He added a little something special to his signature!
Lilo was lovely and she looked so pretty with the flower in her hair.
Just when Stitch was about two tables away (and Calder’s legs had started vibrating with excitement! ), they announced the parade. Well, as Stitch walked by to lead the charge, Calder attached himself like Velcro and they went marching off together into the sun. A sleepy Zack stayed in his seat to enjoy his breakfast and catch a little more rest!
We clapped and cheered as the kids marched around the room – I clapped especially hard when I saw Mickey. (I just love the Hawaiian shirt!)
When Calder came back, grinning from ear-to-ear, we only had a moment’s wait before Stitch came over for signatures and pictures. Luckily, I had remembered to pack Calder’s new Stitch shirt for the blue guy to sign.
Mickey came by and I got Karen and Zack to pose with him. (My pic of Calder and Mickey came out so blurry, you can barely tell it’s CJ.)
I took a last big hit of my coffee and we settled the bill. Calder wanted to go back and check out the merchandise he’d seen as we walked in.
I found some good items for Calder for Christmas and Karen and the CM were very helpful at distracting him so we could complete the transaction without him being any the wiser. He found a Disney PDA that he really wanted to fling his money at. I thought it looked like a piece of junk, but I said nothing. He had barely paid for it before he was liberating it from its packaging. <shrug> Oh, well. He spent the entire time that we walked over to the TTC trying to figure it out. We hopped on a monorail for Epcot and were on our way in minutes.
Karen and Zack had to go back to ASMovies to check out so they could check-in at the Wilderness Lodge Villas, so we all split up at the Epcot monorail station with promises to meet up at our ADR at the Sci Fi late that afternoon.
Up Next: Innoventions ups and downs…

As I stood there, a woman came up from behind us and wiggled her way into our group. I caught her eye and thought I’d introduce myself. I said, “Are you a PassPorter.” She gave me a funny look. “No.” Then she looked around at all of us with our funny hats on, our name badges, our expensive camera equipment and our parade-commando faces and asked, “What’s a PassPorter?”

I LOVE that description
I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only who was freaked out being around so many people! But I am so glad that you approached us that day in front of the castle! And Calder is just too cute!!
Can't wait for more! (and we too were crazy heads that had a character breakfast after MVMCP!! )
