Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: RockNRoller Coaster...

I'm looking forward to the ride.

I still find it hard to believe, the toxic twins partners with Mickey. Is anything sacred anymore?

As long as the A'smith tunes include anything from: Toys in the Attic or Kings and Queens OK; but no Dream On or Don't Want to Live Without You cr#*%

Re: RockNRoller Coaster...

Well, I've made my decision! Thanks to all of your remarks and reading Dave's review of RockNRoller Coaster (see the Touring the World tab, above) I have decided to give this ride a try! The fact that it doesn't have any big drops helped a lot!

Now, I expect all of you out there to pray for me while I ride! We're going 10/29 to 11/5, so put your hands together...

Re: RockNRoller Coaster...

My only recommendation for this ride is: If you are on the shorter side (I am 5'3") make sure to remove any earrings! My ears were at the exact height of the restraints and were repeatedly smashed against them. I believe that if I had been wearing earrings I would have puncture holes in my neck!

Re: RockNRoller Coaster...

Yes I did! I went on it with Wild and kinda enjoyed it. I would have thoroughly enjoyed it if my head had been against the head rest when we started out. Unfortunately, since it wasn't, it bounced back and forth between the headrest until I was able to force it back after the first loop. Even so, I give this ride a thumbs up! I'm even thinking of trying it again in January!

Re: RockNRoller Coaster...

We were all very brave! I of course rode with my 9 yr old to "ease HIS fears" The whole ride I kept saying "Kyler, are you O.K.?" Kyler, are you O.K.?" Finally he says "YES MOM I'm O.K.!!!" Not that I was nervous or anything!!!
We'll all ride again...my kiddos cant' wait!

Re: RockNRoller Coaster...

Cool!! We just love it - my 7 year old daughter got to ride it for her first time on our November trip and 4 year old son was sooooo disappointed he didn't meet the height requirement and he was very envious of his older brother and sister! So glad you did it!! It's an instant Disney classic!

Re: RockNRoller Coaster...

Wow are you guys psycic or what? I was just sitting here getting ready to compse a post about RNR. & see that there is a note already about it.. I do have a couple of questions tho...I am DETERMINED to ride it & Jim is threatening to take legal action against all of you he bribed to help me ease my fears since I didn't go on
<Just kiddin'>
first question.. the wdwmagic link doesn't work.. I do remember seeing a live time video of RnR before out October trip but forgot to bookmark it.. anyone have a current link to the ride video?
2. Okay this one is a reallystupid question/request but I do think it might help ease my fears.. When Jim was trying to convince me to go on RnR in WDW I kept asking him to draw the loops etc.. he kept trying but confused me more.. My request is could someone draw me ( or tell me) a diagram of how the loops/corkscrews go.. Jim said that the entire ride is barely off the ground.. about 6'.. is that right.. I think the more information I have on the ride the better chance I have to ride it... so anything you think would be useful would be so appreciated
Thanks for listening to my dumb request & thanks for bumping the topic!!

Re: RockNRoller Coaster...

Ann, I'm sure someone with more specifics will answer too, but here's what I remember (I just did it twice last Friday!)

First of all, I am not a roller coaster person, but I love this one! I rode it 3 times when we were there in May. It's very smooth and really quite short. It's only a minute and a half long (my friend asked a CM). Space Mountain is really jerky in comparison and gives me motion sickness.

Before it starts the music (Steven Tyler singing) gives you a countdown from 5, so you can be prepared. Make sure you have your head back into the headrest. Once the ride begins, if your eyes are open, there are about 4 flashes of light as the camera takes a picture of each section of the limo. You do shoot out fast, I think around 60 mph. This is where the first loop is. It's a pretty good loop, but you get through it quickly. I think it's done in the dark. There's one more loop, but it's almost at the end of the ride. I don't know how far off the ground the ride is. Again, the ride itself is pretty short.

One major thing I noticed for myself this time - I've lost 30 lbs since I rode RNR in May, so the restraint was a little looser than before and it moved, which sort of freaked me out the first time I rode it. Also, I would recommend taking earrings out, because I felt like mine were going to fly out of my ears.

Hope this helps!

Andrea
