Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Trying Again... My Trip Report

Hey everyone, sorry I never finished my trip report to DL (school), but because today is a Saturday, I am free and feel like updating . If you didn't catch the earlier entrees of my Trip report, go to http://www.passporterboards.com/ubb/...14&fpart=1 .
Now then, lets get on with it...

Day 1.6: Disney's Imagine... The best firework show I have ever seen

We left DCA and headed back to DL. As we walked up MS USA, I was surprised to see very few people there! (I figured that they where all at Fantasmic!, but this was ridiculous) We walked past the Matterhorn and IASW to get in front of King Arthur's carousel and found a bench there. Finally, the music started and I cheered (finally, after talking about this with all of you over and over, and seeing countless videos of it, I was going to see Imagine! ). Before I start making complaints, I would like to say it is the best firework show I have ever seen. I never saw Believe, and I have also seen Illuminations at Epcot in WDW, and countless fourth of july local fireworks, but this was the best by far. They launched more pyro in the first 5 minutes then all of the fireworks in all of the shows I have seen (besides Illuminations)! Now time for the complaints (sorry to make it seem like I love to complain, I just like saying these things). I don't know if I have mentioned this, but this entire time (as in this whole trip) I was been filming on a camera (I LOVE to film and I have iMovie at home), and every once in awhile the fireworks would get out of focus, so I would be constantly refocusing. The main problem with sitting in front of the carousel is right when the fireworks started, the CM got on the loud speaker and did her long "Good evening and welcome to King Arthur's Carousel! When you have found your horse please rap the safety strap around..."etc., while there was only one little speaker blaring the music out. I now see why snoozy suggested Storybookland and IASW to see it (but there were so many people in those places that we went elsewhere). But besides thoughts little things, Imagine was incredible!

Coming up next:The show down of the millennium: ///FANTASMIC!\\\

And Later: Our Amazing hotel room

I'm glad to see your back on the boards with the rest of your TR. Sorry to hear the carousel noise got in the way. I had thought about sitting there, now I will make sure we by pass that one. Still all in all it sounds like you enjoyed the show and that's what counts.

Day 1.7: ///FANTASMIC!\\\\\\

Hello again, I would just like to add that I may not have anything up again 'til' next weekend (school).

Day 1.7: ///FANTASMIC!\\\ (aka the best show ever)

When Imagine ended, we crossed to frontier land via Big Thunder Trail, me bouncing up and down all the way bubbling with excitement. I was going to see Fantasmic! again! I realized when I had gotten to the big mob waiting to be let in that I had been so exited I ran ahead and left Mom and DB behind . I backtracked and found them, and scolding them for walking and not running (it's me after all ), all of us ran (to their reluctance) to Frontier land. (If you haven't noticed yet, I Even though we got there around 55 min. before show time, we got the 2nd row! (if you haven't noticed yet, I LOVE Fantasmic! ) While we waited we "played" with a toddler that was next to us and his little spinning light thing of some sort. Also, as always, that little band came out on the Tom Sawyer Island raft and did "hit's from their new album" until about 5 minutes before show time, when they stopped and all was quiet until we herd the the voice that I listen to all the time on my computer/CD player and always hope to here again at DL: "Welcome to Fantasmic! Tonight our friend and host Mickey Mouse, uses his amazing imagination to create magical imagery for all to enjoy." (I have memorized it, but I shall restrain myself from boring you to tears ). The single note of music grew louder, and louder, until a huge orchestra blast blasted and a beam of light as if coming down from heaven (or someplace else up there) and landed on the island while lights danced around the river, until Imagination Mickey appeared in the middle of the beam. (during this time period I was shaking with a silent laugh of joy). Well, you basically know the rest: MIckey makes the waters dance (fountains), shoots sparks from his fingers, and then you enter the imagination of Disney (which includes scene from the Jungle Book, Dumbo, Pinnocio, one of the things Fantasmic! is famous for, the Peter Pan scene on the colombia, and finally all of the princesses). But, imagination can also be transformed into a overwhelming nightmare, as the Queen from snow white will show you. She brings Ersela and Charnabog to take over Mickey's dream, as well as Malisifent, who transforms herself into a 45 foot fire breathing dragon who sets the lake on fire. But, Mickey shows that his dreams are meant to be good, and destroys the evil with lasers, sparks, all coming out of his sword. Mickey then appears on top of the Sailing Ship Columbia as Steamboat Willi, along with loads of Disney characters, as Mickey clearly shows that good will beat evil any ol' time (during this part I began crying with joy). As the waters dance, the Colombia rounds the island, and you think it's over: think again. Sorcerer Mickey appears high on the very top of the set, and makes fireworks and commits blaze through the sky. (At this point I lost control and began crying into my Mom's shoulder I was so happy ). After 35 seconds of fireworks and commits (I KNOW my facts), every thing goes dark except for the huge beam that comes back up. Mickey disappears and reapers as normal Mickey inside the beam and says "Some imagination, huh? Hu-Ha!" and then disappears in a shower of sparks. The lights do one more sweep of the advance, and then the show ends and everything goes black. When the lights come up, it's as if Fantasmic! never happened, and that everything from the fireworks to the $72,000 () that is used in this show was just in your "imagination" . I still say (imho) that Fantasmic! is the best thing at DL, or my screen named isn't 'Fantasmic! kid', which it is! During this piticuler show the mist screens weren't working to well, and it was windy so the screens got everyone wet . Has anyone ever sat up in the Disney Gallery during Fantasmic!? I want to do it for my birthday, but my Mom wants to know if it is worth it, with it being almost as much as admission. Also, has anyone been on BTMRR during Fantasmic!? I heard that's fun, but due to my last big thunder experience, I my never find out if it is... I am now terrified of it (see day 1.2). Anyone wanting to share a Fantasmic! story, that would be great, as I might have time just to read the posts over the week, and it would be great to have another little thing to look forward to. Thanks!

Coming up next: Our Amazing Hotel room and Story Tellers breakfast

And Later: DCA, home of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (my favorite ride at DLR)

PS: sorry, I don't have much time to check my spelling right now, so it may be sloppy

Re: Day 1.7: ///FANTASMIC!\\\\\\

Fantasmic sounds wonderful. Yes, that's right we have yet to see it. It seems like everytime we go to Disneyland, Fantasmic is not showing. 2005 I have plans to go in November during Thanksgiving week, I hope it will be playing. I also want to get the Disney Gallery seating. From what I've heard it is the best, cost some extra bucks but the view is great and the dessert is suppose to be excellent.

End of Day 1: Disney\'s Grand Californian Hotel

After Fantasmic!, we exited the park and headed to DTD to get to DGCH. As we walked we looked up at the hotel rooms that look out over DTD and wondered which one was ours (we got a DTD view ). It took us a bit of time to find the entrance but we found it and went to the front desk. I was very surprised how empty it was! I thought that it would be like AKL at WDW, where it is always busy! They made us our room key, and put our one and only bag onto a trolly, that would arrive a few minutes after we where in our room. We walked up to the 3rd level, and headed down the hall. When I say "hall", I do mean hall! If you ever stay at DGCH, you'll never forget just how e n d l e s s the halls are ! Anyway, when we got to the room we opened the door and stepped inside, and all said "Wow!" in unison, as we entered the best hotel room I have ever stayed in! One of the first things that I was happy about were the bunk-beds: The ones at AKL in WDW were very short, and I would always bang my head on the top of the upper bunk in the morning (my bro always has to sit on the top, so I am always on the bottom), but the one here was the right height, and was more cozy too! Mom's bed was quite a sight as well, along with the lights next to them. I didn't know about the turn down! We found a note and 3 mickey chocolates on Mom's bed, along with the covers set perfectly! Just then the bag came in, and we all got ready for bed.

Before I tucked in I watched Imagine one more time on my camera, and then put it on it's charger and climbed into bed. While we where lying there, we herd it: Fireworks! I had forgotten that Disney keeps testing the new launch system, and I listened to them like a lullaby, thinking how in the future, DL would be more amazing then what we had tonight! I smiled and closed my eyes, and after lying in bed for what seemed like an eternity, I drifted off to sleep, and Day 1 ended.

Coming up next: Day 2: Disney's California Adventure, and the Tower of Terror!

And later: Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular with our neighbors

I have been to about 3 more firework shows scence then, and Imagine is a clear winner. I even bought it's $25 sound track! (Or were you joking?) I just wish there wasn't the fact that all the rides (exept the dark ones) stay open during the show, making Fantasyland still as loud as it normally is....
