As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

December, Here We Come
Well, I am now officially in Disney vacation planning heaven since some of the priority seatings windows for our upcoming December holiday have opened. I love this part almost as much as the trip itself. Below is my list of restaurants and if anyone has any feedback on any of them, I'd love to hear it. I've put *s beside all the ones that are new places that I haven't tried before.
December 10 - Breakfast at the Rainforest Cafe* in the Animal Kingdom after early entry there and dinner that night at the Whispering Canyon Cafe.
Dec. 11 - Very late lunch at San Angel Inn
Dec. 12 - Lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table after early entry at the Magic Kingdom and dinner that night at Spoodles*
Dec. 13 - Dinner at Shula's*
Dec. 14 - Lunch at Fulton's Crab House*
Dec. 15 - Lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern and dinner at Citricos*
Dec. 16 - Note - this one could end up getting swapped with Dec. 22 as the original narrator we wanted for the night of the 16th has recently cancelled and we're now waiting to hear who the replacement will be before making up our minds for sure - Lunch at Rose & Crown (I had a bad experience here the one and only time I tried this place before but decided to give it one more chance) and dinner on the Candlelight Processional package at Nine Dragons*
Dec. 17 - Breakfast at the Crystal Palace and dinner at the California Grill
Dec. 18 - Dinner at 1900 Park Fare
Dec. 19 - Fantasmic Dinner Package at Hollywood Brown Derby
Dec. 20 - Princess Storybook Breakfast* at Restaurant Akershus and a late lunch at Portobello Yacht Club*
Dec. 21 - Breakfast at Cape May Cafe* & late lunch at Coral Reef (another place where my one and only previous experience here was not good but I want to give it one more chance before crossing it off my list)
Dec. 22 - Lunch at Concourse Steak House* and dinner at House of Blues
Dec. 23 - Lunch at Restaurant Marrakesh
If anyone can think of places they consider not to be missed that I've left out or ones that I've included that they would not want to recommend, I'd love the input. Thanks!
Joy

Re: December, Here We Come
I was just thinking basically the same thing! I've just got off the phone with WDW-DINE, myself! I've made loads of PS's and we'll be dining at AK's Rainforest Cafe on the 10th as well! I'm gonna fire off a PM to you, Joy!

Re: December, Here We Come
Hi Joy!
I've been doing the same thing -- sure wish we were staying as long as you! Perhaps our paths will cross -- my family will be there from the 9th to the 13th (none of our dining plans overlap though!)
Regarding your choices, here are the ones I've dined at and my opinion of them, including my opinion of the ones you've already dined at just so you can see if we have similar tastes to go with our similar names
Rainforest Cafe - service not up to WDW standards, food just okay
Whispering Canyon -- Love it! Great service, good fun, so-so food
Liberty Tree -- Love it! Fun, good food, service always good
Citricos -- a favorite of mine. Wine lovers should try the wine & food pairing
Crystal Palace -- good value, good food, fun
1900 Park Fare -- a little disappointing compared to other character breakfasts
CA Grill & Hollywood Brown Derby -- two of my favorites, not to be missed
Portobello Yacht Club -- Good service, good food, dine early & avoid peak hours
Concourse Steak House -- Excellent food, good service, missed by many in favor of the other CR restaurants
Marrakesh -- I love it!
As for anything else I would recommend, you have missed two of my favorites, although perhaps you have already dined at those -- Kona Cafe and Le Cellier (I know, you are from Canada and perhaps want a change, but it is a great place!)
Have a great trip!

Re: December, Here We Come
Joy, your choices sound good and I only hope that we get to meet up with you guys in December. We must arrange a meet by Stormalong Bay!
As to the ones you haven't done before, here are my thoughts:
Spoodles is one of our favourites - great food, lovely fun atomsphere and the sangria there is deadly! It's a must-do for us and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Fulton's Crab House - we really enjoy the lunch there, good choices and at a reasonable price and with lovely views across to Saratoga Springs too.
Nine Dragons - we ate here in December 2002 and I've heard more favourable reviews recently. We enjoyed the food, but just found it very expensive. I'll be interested to see what you make of it.
Princess Storybook Breakfast - this is so much fun. You get much better character interaction here than at Cinderella's and we enjoyed the food a lot more too. The setting is lovely as well.
Cape May Cafe - a fun character meal, although our experience of eating here was marred by our Christmas Day breakfast here in 2002, when we had awful service. Let's just say I don't think our server wanted to work that day. We're going back in December and hopefully we'll get much better service this time.
Concourse Steak House - one of our favourites. Good food and at a reasonable choice and something of an undiscovered restaurant, so it's never that busy at lunchtime, which is great.
I hope that helps and I hope we get to catch up with you too!

Re: December, Here We Come
You have made some WONDERFUL choices! Citricos is a favorite of mine so I hope you enjoy it!
We ate at the Rainforest Cafe on our last trip. I found the food to be very good and very filling for breakfast. The service was mediocre, but the food got us off to a great start!
I didn't see Boma on your list. Have you tried it before? It is my one absolutely cannot miss on any trip and we usually end up eating there more than once!

I've been to Boma three times so far (always for dinner) and I love the place. For the moment, I haven't included either Boma or a few of our other faves (Le Cellier, Kona Cafe, and Artist Point) on our list because we wanted to try some new places plus we tried to co-ordinate our restaurants with our planned itinerary. All that being said, I know I will probably miss Boma terribly if I don't eat there once on this trip. Perhaps we could sneak a breakfast at Boma into our schedule. I've never done breakfast there before. How did you like it? Is it as good as the dinner?

Breakfast there is good and it's certainly lovely to be able to try out the Frunch but of the two, I do prefer dinner, as it's got the more exotic and unusual food.
