Are "combination" meals allowed with the Quick Service meal credits? - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Cool. Thank you so much for coming back and letting us know how it worked. Knowing you can do it, I'm going to check the menus again for where we will eat to see if any place else offers them. If we can get the "combo" meals, it gives us that little bit extra to eat so we can do two meals instead of three and stretch out the credits.
If you haven't looked at it already, you should consider the chicken & ribs combo at the ABC Commissary in DHS. That can easily be shared...it's a lot of food! And if you want to go to Art of Animation for a meal, they have a Double Cheeseburger meal that comes with 2 sides that is also easily enough for 2 people. My son and his wife shared that meal one evening. They just cut the burger in half (it was still too much for my daughter-in-law to finish) and then shared the sides (they chose fries and a salad).

More good tips - thank you. We're actually planning on eating at both of those QS locations this year. The Commissary because we like it there, AoA because we want to get Abby over there for the learn to draw class and then we'll stay for lunch.
I wish I could second this recommendation...but I had the absolute WORST meal ever at ABC! I will be VERY hard pressed to ever go in there again.
HOWEVER...Cosmic Rays at Tomorrowland in MK has awesome chicken and ribs and I do feel confident recommending them.
Do they still have the chicken & ribs at Cosmic Ray's? It had been changed to only being available at dinner a few years ago and then it was removed from the menu completely. Did they put it back on again?
Here's some irony. We had a horrible experience at Comic Ray's when we ate there in 2016 and have no desire to ever go there again and will never recommend that place to anyone. We had been there on previous trips and while it wasn't ever one of our favorites, it wasn't a place that we avoided. On our last visit there we had terrible service, mediocre food (not flavorful, barely warm) with two containers of cheese sauce that were past their expiration date (we got them replaced), and zero sympathy from the manager when we nicely told her about the expired cheese and that we were disappointed that we waited 20 minutes for our food (not an exaggeration -- and we asked numerous cast members what was taking so long and they always looked at our ticket and said, "Oh your food should be up in a minute, they're cooking it now) while dozens of guests who ordered after us got their food before us. Heck, some of them were even finished eating before we got our food. I understand that any restaurant can have a bad day and that mistakes happen but when the manager doesn't give two hoots about the food or service at *their* restaurant, I don't feel a need to return (that goes for restaurants outside of Disney as well). All the manager said to us was, "Yeah, there was a problem with that register, the orders weren't printing in the kitchen. It's fixed now." No apology, no "here's some cookies for your trouble" (not that we were looking for anything other than an acknowledgement that we were inconvenienced and wanted to make sure she was aware of the problem so it got fixed and didn't affect other customers). And we were the only order that was held up so I don't believe the excuse she gave us -- somehow all the other orders were magically printing in the kitchen, just not ours. The people who ordered before us and after us got their orders in a timely fashion. I did go to guest relations and let them know about everything (mostly the poor service by the manager). They offered us some FPs (their answer to everything) but we were leaving the park and didn't really have a use for them.
I'm sure people have had a bad experience at every single restaurant on Disney property.

Sorry to hear about your experience and particularly that the manager didn't seem that bothered when you told them about it.

We didn't go there on our last trip, but DH and I had a great chicken meal a couple trips back...and I think I remember the chicken and rib combo, but I'm not sure.

WOW!! I am so sorry to hear this...our last stop there was great, the complete opposite! Service was quick and friendly, food came out quick, was hot and fresh. We enjoyed it.

Most places would probably given you something like a dessert for free. The problem with Disney is they are so stringent in their processes and inventory that giving away something would probably be a last resort for the restaurant management. I also hate how when there is an issue they just blow you off instead of actually checking. They should definitely had someone physically check on your order, especially when people after you where getting their food before you. Unless you had a bunch of special orders, there is no excuse for that.

We didn't have anything special on our order that I recall -- and if we did, it would have been something like "no bacon on the bacon cheesburger" or something simple like that -- certainly not something that should have taken an extra 20 minutes. We didn't really expect free dessert or anything, just simply an acknowledgement. DH & I have both worked in customer service oriented careers and the companies we've worked for would have never have tolerated a manager just brushing off a customer like that.
I don't know if Disney has loosened up on their inventory processes but they gave us free food on numerous occasions on this trip without batting an eye. A few times it was because they gave us the wrong sides or desserts so when we pointed out the error (before taking the food from the counter) they would just say to keep the wrong stuff but still gave us the right stuff. I know they would just have to throw away food that's already been plated (like fries or a salad) but they let us keep grapes, carrots, and pre-packaged desserts (cookies/cake) a few times throughout the week (we were a party of 10, so there was ample opportunities for an order to get processed wrong since we usually didn't get the standard fries as a side). And at 2 or 3 different QS locations my 1-year old granddaughter was given free cookies for no particular reason other than the CM enjoyed interacting with her. But like I said -- when the Cosmic Ray's incident happened, we weren't expecting free food, just a few free words.

The definitely dropped the ball on that. They most definitely should have been better. It is sad to say that we see this type of behavior often now and not just at WDW.
I see QS now says adults can have a alcoholic drink beer, wine or cocktail. So how do you know which drinks you can get where. I mean is it only certain locations? Only certain cocktails?
Anyone try this yet?
It will depend upon what is offered; all DPs give the option for an alcoholic or specialty beverage (like fancy milkshake) in place of soda, coffee, etc. For QS places, most will likely have a couple of wines or beers, or possibly an Adult Frozen Beverage. People are reporting a variety of experiences, which I expect will smooth out as this change becomes more familiar to staff and menus are adjusted. So you may get anything from a glass of wine to a better quality margarita, a lower end scotch or a hard milkshake, depending upon the restaurant and the server. Some have found that the available options were marked on the menus at TS places. I'm just hoping for the Irish whisky and eggnog at the stand in England come December.
