As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. My son who will be 18 when we go this December, has mild autism. His food palate is usually limited to chicken tenders, spaghetti, hot dogs, the occasional cheeseburger and breakfast foods. Most of the meals I am planning are at CS but I would like to do a couple TS. Is there a big issue with him ordering the chicken nuggets from the kids menu? or going to the "kids" area at the buffets? I don't care about using his Adult TS credit for the kids food, but wasn't sure if this would be ok.
I don't have a definite answer for you, but I would think if you explained the situation to the host/server/cashier, they would accommodate you. You could always contact WDW should you wish to know before your vacation. I know there is no issue eating from the kids area at the buffets, as I see adults doing that all the time. And I don't think there would be a problem ordering from the kids menu at a TS. Like you say, you'd probably have to use an adult TS credit. They may even offer to make it an adult size portion for him.
FYI, Sci-Fi has Buffalo popcorn chicken on their appetizer menu and it's a huge portion of chicken fingers. I get them whenever we go there. They are spicy though.

I can tell you from our trip in March that I ordered 2x off the kids menu and neither time did the server say anything or even flinch at my request (I did pay adult TS credits though). Both portions were huge so I assume they gave me an adult portion of the kids food. As far as the buffets, those are definitely not an issue as adults eat from there all the time. Honestly Disney is so good with food requests...they truly just want everyone to have a magical experience.
Thank you everyone. I was pretty sure it would be ok, but wanted to see your thoughts. This trip is geared toward him, but I was hoping to get a few TS meals for myself that didn't involve pancakes and eggs.
I would check the menus on AllEars.net to be sure the kids menu has things to his liking. Some TS have "all the usual suspects" and some are quite limited.
I have a teenager with autism who has texture issues. At 50's Prime Time he likes the kids meatloaf so they will do a double portion of that for him. At Narcoossee's he loves the mickey pasta so they will do a double order of that for him. I'm pretty sure he eats off the adult menu everywhere else but you shouldn't have any problems. We stopped doing the dining plan when he became a Disney adult because it didn't make sense to be using adult dining credits for kids meals.
Shouldn't be a problem. I have a 14 year old DS with autism and his self-imposed diet is so limited it's driving me nuts. At home he'll only eat chicken nuggets of grilled hot dogs for dinner. But he won't eat nuggets or HD when we go out. At WDW he'll have fries for dinner every night. My summer mission is the get him to add some kind of protein to his repertoire. Pray for me, lol
I can't imagine you would have any trouble at all. I know I have taken from the kids buffet for myself many a times and no one has every said anything. I would hope no one would as they don't know whether I have a child at the table or not I'm getting food for.
As for regular TS meals, I don't even know if you'd have to explain. I would think a simple statement from your son of "I know it's on the kids menu but I would like to get this for dinner" would be enough. The CM will probably tell you that they'll have to charge you the adult credit but since you're already aware of that, I can't see there being any problems.

There should be no problem at all; Disney only cares that the food is paid for.
If you really wish to be certain, you can have your son's autism noted on all your ADRs. Then just mention it to your server, and ask for a kids' menu for your son (if it's not a buffet - at the buffet, just find the foods he'll like, and point him in the right direction).

On our January '14 trip, one of us has a .... well, not an allergy to seafood per se, but a very strong nausea response to even the smell of most seafood. When I made our ADRs, I made sure that was noted on each of them, and then mentioned it to our servers. They still treated it like an allergy; the chef came out to talk to her about what she could have or not. Even if she ordered something off the regular menu, the plate was delivered by a separate CM, and came complete with a little yellow flag (to help avoid any chance of cross-contamination).
