As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

We ate at Skipper's Canteen in Magic Kingdom on Christmas Eve. We really enjoyed it and it's now on our "Do" list for MK. I will caution you though that it won't be to everyone's taste. It's not American food so if you're expecting the usual steak and potatoes on the menu, I would look elsewhere. The menu is designed around the rivers of the Jungle Cruise, the Amazon, the Congo, the Nile and the Mekong so the food is South American, African and South East Asian inspired and those are the spices that are used. If this is not to your liking or your not an adventurous eater, then I would give it a pass.
We've been on the Mekong River twice and are familiar with South East Asian cuisine having been to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia and we're off to Africa later this year so we were quite happy with the food here. My mom had the hardy har har chop sui pork and I had the spicy Thai noodles. Both of our dishes were spot on and delicious.
Also, if you're not a fan of the Jungle Cruise, I would give this restaurant a pass because the corny jokes from the ride carry over to the restaurant since the servers are supposed to be former Jungle Cruise Skippers.
We will be returning to Skipper's Canteen on our next visit to MK.
I tried Chef Art’s Homecoming! Fantastic! I went last September for lunch- I did not have an ADR, they sat me down and I ordered the fried chicken and substituted the mashed potatoes for the Mac & Cheese! I asked my server if she could make a drink with fresh juices- she came back with a non-alcohol drink (which I wanted) that was made with fresh juices with a touch of Sprite- so Good! The fried chicken was really good and the Mac & Cheese was good too. I will be returning. I didn’t have enough room to try the pineapple banana cake. I will on my next trip!

Have you been back since the Trattoria al Forno opened at BoardWalk?
The breakfast is quite good for a character meal, we thought. That was especially true after DH, whose birthday it was, asked if he might have another chocolate twist. Our server brought him FOUR in a box, saying, “Happy Birthday!”
We hauled them home, froze them and finished the last about six weeks after returning home. Yes, they were somewhat stale by the time we got them into the freezer but still tasted magical.
We had a great time with Flynn Rider and Rapunzel. Ariel and her prince are the other characters, making this the rare place to meet two princes.

Oh wow, so many new places. I don't know how many is a few for you but in the last 5 there have been over a dozen new places. Mostly at Disney Springs. I would check out the Disney food blog and look up the reviews of the new places. We really like the bowls at the new Satu'li Canteen at AK Pandora area. Good food and good portions. MK: Pecos Bill went to a tex -mex style and the food there is good and someone mentions Skipper's already. There is a new made to order Pizza place, a burger place and a bunch of food kiosks now at DS. But I really like Morimotos. Homecomin' is good. So many good options.

I agree, Spice Road Table is a must do for us. At Disney Springs, Homecoming, Frontera Cochina (a Rick Bayless restaurant), Paddlefish, Boathouse (I like the bar area out back), and the Brown Derby lounge (outside seating) at DHS.

We love The Boathouse (restaurant and dockside bar). Food, drinks and service are all wonderful. Probably one of our new favorites and definitely a must do each time we visit WDW. Something for everyone and a great experience all around.
