As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

When we first started planning this trip, we were all over the place. Muffin has to go to Orlando for a convention at the Rosen from November 4th- 7th so he was originally going to go just for that and then we were going to return to WDW in December again to take advantage of our AP's at Christmastime.
Then we decided it was silly to make two trips and also that we hadn't been to the Food and Wine Festival in ages!! So Muffin booked me in at the Rosen and we were going to go to Disney World from November 7th- 12th. We wouldn't get to our resort until the afternoon of the 7th.
With all of the new stuff going on, we came to the conclusion that 5 days was just not going to cut it so we extended our Disney part of the trip to the 14th. Then!
Since I am off until the 16th, we threw in an extra day to hopefully enjoy a little more Christmas and attend MVMCP once again as we saw it starts on the 9th!! We love this party and think it is worth going to just for the Christmas parade alone!!
So here we are!!
We are flying to Orlando on November 4th. We won't get in until early afternoon most likely and Muffin has to set up his show so I will need to find something to do for a few hours. We are in the process of figuring out a place to eat for dinner that evening. I am thinking since we have Tables in Wonderland, we may just grab a Lyft to DS and see La Nouba and have dinner at either Paddlefish or Morimoto Asia after the show. I haven't talked to Muffin about this plan yet but since we did Sea World and USF last year, we may just want to take advantage of our evenings here at DS. We'll see what he says.
We are planning on just a one day park hopper to Universal Studios this time as we saw it pretty thoroughly last year and feel that we can hit the highlights in a day. In fact, it will probably just be for me as I can't see how Muffin will be able to go ( but I will let him figure that out).
While at the Rosen, Muffin will be working most of the time. We arrive on Saturday afternoon and that is his only completely free day.
On Sunday, Muffin will be setting up for most of the day so I may head to Sea World or I may go to MK for the day. I haven't decided yet. What I would really love to do is hightail it over to AK to see all of the new stuff, but alas, I do not think Muffin would appreciate that so I will have to wait until we can both experience that park together.
On Monday, I will go to USF for the day. I will definitely go back to see the Harry Potter stuff and grab a Butterbeer or two!!
Tuesday, Muffin has a half day of show before we head over to WDW. I am considering hauling our luggage over to whatever resort we decide to stay at and meeting up with him at Epcot to enjoy the F & WF.
We honestly are not sure where we are staying yet for the Disney World part of the trip. ( I know you are all shocked!). We are torn between AKL, WL and the Polynesian. Currently, there is not much open at the Poly, so that may eliminate that one completely. We shall see!!
We haven't stayed at AKL in 5 years, which is way too long and Muffin, of course, has wanted to stay at WL the past three times we went. We are not into splitting our stay, so we will have to decide soon as our ADR window is fast approaching.
I have a funny feeling we will book the WL and then change it. .( Again, shocking, I know!!) I do most of the ADR planning and since there are so many newer choices, I am having a really difficult time with that!
We know we definitely want to do the Rivers of Light dining package with Tiffin's. We know we want to try either Morimoto Asia or Paddlefish but we can't decide which one. ( We will probably only go to Disney Springs once.). We know we want to go back to Be Our Guest because we love it and it's been two trips since we've been. Likewise, it's been ages since we've dined at Jiko and that is on the "yes" list. If we wind up at AKL, we will add in Boma and Sanaa as well. My request is for CRT. Muffin could live without that one but I sure love that castle and the last time we dined there was also three trips ago.
Other than that, we have some faves such as the California Grill and Flying Fish that we are certainly considering. We made out pretty good with Tables in Wonderland last year and our card is still valid so we won't do a dining package again this time.
Our dining window opens on May 11th, so I'd better start organizing soon.
I am also dying for the park hours to come out for November as that may help a little!!
Next: It really is something how we kick around various ideas!

Great start! You suddenly reminded me that we need to start considering where we'll eat on our fall trip. I've been so excited about our coming trip that I've totally forgotten out needing to figure out park days and where we'll eat. By the way, our trip is November 5 - 16.
Your plans sound great so far. We just stayed at Wilderness Lodge in the Copper Creek Villas section. It was very nice but lots of construction going on. I think that will be done by your trip dates. The new Geyser Point Bar & Grill is a fun place. Kind of a combination walk-up/table service. You order your food at the counter and they bring it to you. The Huckleberry Punch from the bar is a very delicious adult beverage! The seating areas are really neat and the view is gorgeous. November seems like a popular Passporter month. We will be there November 12th to the 19th!

How fun!!. Where will you stay this time?! That drink sounds yummy and I hope we can check out the Geyser Point Bar and Grill. Perhaps we will also cross paths!!
Great start! You'll probably change the resort a couple of times and either stay at a completely different resort than expected or stay at the one you originally had booked.

Our reservation is at Old Key West but we are wait listed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Polynesian so maybe changes for us! Would love to have the chance to say hello!
We'll miss you by a day as we are flying out on the 3rd!
I am waiting for the November hours as well! Our ADRs can be made on may 2 and I'd like to know what November looks like before then!

That is a major bummer!!. I would have loved t have met you in person!!. It is definitely frustrating about the hours. I hope they come out soon!
Sounds like the makings of a great trip and only in the infinite stages of the planning as I know they'll change! Some nice options for dining and I hope to do some of these on my upcoming trip as well as the ROL package! Glad you were able to extend your trip a few days, which is always a good thing!
