Where do you keep your kitchen cleaning supplies? About This Page:

In my house, the floor soap is kept under the sink. The broom and dust pan are kept in a tiny broom closet right off the kitchen. The "scrubbing" mop is sometimes kept hanging in the downstairs stairwell. Sometimes it's the rinse mop instead. Regardless of which mop is hanging, the second mop is always with the bucket - and that is kept down cellar as far away from the hanging mop as it possibly can get. Not to mention that before it gets done, every single thing must be taken out of the kitchen - the table, the chairs (these I understand) and the cabinet in the corner that is loaded with school books and other things we use that "can't be seen" - that's why it's a cabinet now instead of the small bookcase that was always in the corner when I grew up. Needless to say, it's a chore just to get ready to mop and my mother wonders why Lenny and I aren't jumping at the chance to mop the kitchen floor.

Is anyone else as disorganized when it comes to those supplies as my mother is and then do you get made when no one else is willing to take over mopping duty?

Can you tell I'm on vacation from school and my mother is deciding what it is I should be doing?

Why does the cabinet need to come out when you mop? It's not getting dirty underneath it, right? I just move my chairs, mop that spot, and put them back in place. They have little plastic doohickeys under the legs to protect the floor, so the wood doesn't get wet.If you don't want to do that, just turn them upside down on top of the table like they do as restaurants (I don;t move my table either as it doesn't get dirty under the legs).

If I had to move all that stuff, then yeah, I'd not mop very often either, LOL!

Most of my cleaning supplies are kept in the laundry room. I do sometimes have a few cleaning supplies in the cabinet to the far right of the kitchen sink. My kitchen doesn't require moving anything in order to mop. We don't have a table or anything movable in the kitchen. My kids have chores. We rotate them. Currently the chore of the kitchen floor (along with the dishes) belongs to the 9 year old.... I change up chores about every six months.... So, that everyone does everything at some point in time....

Soaps, etc are kept under the sink. The broom and mop are kept in the garage, right outside the family room door. The buckets are out there too. The Floor Mate is kept - well, wherever DH decided to ditch it. No-where in particular is where it is.

Most of my cleaning supplies are either kept under the sink or in the closet of the downstairs half bath (close to the kitchen) but I have a steam cleaner to clean the floors and that is in the basement, and not very convienent to get to.

Which reminds me, I need to wash the kitchen floor.

Most of my cleaning supplies are downstairs in the laundry room. i do keep the broom on the top step of the stairs going into the basement.

Dh put two nails in the wall behind the kitchen trash can and that's where we hang the broom and dustpan. All cleaning supplies are kept on a shelf in the laundry room-which is right off the kitchen. We store the mop out in our enclosed porch, which is also right off the kitchen. Everything is within easy reach.

I wouldn't be too keen to mop if I had to go deep into the cellar to get it. *shivers*

How about getting a swiffer ? That would do away with mop/bucket, and should make it a bit easier.
