As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Hi all! I'm not a scrapbooker, but I do have a million and one unfinished projects around the house.
As Christmas draws closer, I feel the urge to do some serious decluttering, before the big load of new stuff comes in (esp toys for DS ).
Anyone want to join in for a decluttering support chat and/or challenge?
Mods, if there's a better place for this, let me know. I'd love to have a more permanent place for this kind of chat here. I know we all struggle with "affluenza."
I'm in. We are trying but mostly unsuccessful here. Bw JB & his many many toys & when you add his 1/2 brothers & the extra stuff to my pack rat nature = mass trouble.

Sounds great, Kim, and we're happy to have this in our forum--it's actually a pretty good fit, as collectors and crafters of all descriptions tend to accumulate stuff, and organization is always a challenge (who, me?).
I personally can't take on any more challenges until after Christmas , but I could use a little external motivation to get my basement scrap area in good shape! It actually was pretty good until it became "Gift Wrap Central".

CTM-Great! I haven't thought of any specific goals yet, but thought I could report my decluttering successes here. Yesterday, I moved some books to a different shelf, which resulted in me getting rid of some party decorations and an old phone book. That's something, anyways!
Currently, my wrapping station is my studio floor!! And I "loaned" my worktable to DH to move to the den to set up his electric train station (which we haven't used in over 20+ years).
I am constantly reorganizing my studio - I quilt, sew, scrapbook, craft and write in there. (I keep woodworking confined to the garage.) And organizing really helps me rev my engines for the next project.
Yesterday I reorganized my kitchen pantry - walk in deep and long, only about 3 feet wide with shelving along one side.
I put a label maker on my Christmas list. I'm a huge fan of the Messie Me books - bookmarks, stickie notes, flags all over the chapters.

Pat, I'm not familiar with Messie Me. I'm going to check them out, I'm looking for motivation.
No decluttering yesterday, but I did make some modest progress in that I got our cedar garland made and up on the railing. Looks great, and I'm close to being able to toss the rest of the cedar boughs.
I am in for this but will not be able to do to much until Feb. I look forward to hearing how all of you are doing. What a great way to start the new year.
Much to my wondering eyes...my packrat DS(7) decided yesterday that he wanted to cull his toys and send the rejects to the homeless shelter. And then he has followed through with choosing about 1 gallon of plastic junk. Yay! This was a huge goal of mine, and I told him he was going to have to do it soon, but he came up with the idea yesterday when trying to avoid picking up his Duplos.
That was a huge coup, and I'm counting it as my success, as his supporter and cheerleader.

Yay, you! My youngest was maybe 10-12? when I convinced him to pick out his favorite dozen Hot Wheels cars and donate the rest!
On Jan 1st - get rid of one item.
On Jan 2nd - get rid of two items.
On Jan 3rd - get rid of three items.
Etc through the month of January.
Then if you want to keep going, I recommend starting back over at one on Feb 1st.
Now this can be big or little items. For instance, I started this last year and ON the 1st I got rid of an old knife block out of the kitchen and on the 28th (or so) of January, I got rid of 28 pens that were taking up space on my desk.
It really adds up and makes an great difference and is pretty painless!!

Yesterday I finally got rid of the bulk of my nursing text books (2003-2006). I have nearly never used them for reference since I passed my board exams. If I need to know something, I look it up online. So, that was huge, I'd say about 14 inches of bookshelf space. Whee! DS has done a little bit more here and there. Today we'll have to do more, as we're hosting a party and we need to finish what we started and get stuff put away for hosting. Our place is tiny, so bedrooms become hosting areas as well.
Okay, I'm in! I don't know if I'll be able to start in earnest until Wednesday, but I'm having over night guests for Christmas and I need to get the spare room in order. Great place to start!
My Christmas party was a huge success, with folks staying till after 2am. Now I'm in pick-up mode for the most part, but hope to do some honest de-cluttering as well (as in, discarding items!)

This is a great idea. I could make it a game and use it to encourage my girls to help me.
