As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We lost my dad suddenly Saturday.
My mom lives 300 foot away from us in their own, now her house
Mom loved Disney in 08 and 09
Dad did too but wouldn't admit it enough to go back even though we tried.
Mom wouldn't leave him to go
So through my tears I have told her you are going to Disney next month
Im so scared about trying to change all the ressies and FP+ we will need to bc its Nov 19-29 a BAD time to make these changes - as DVC room will be easiest part.
ANY SUGGESTIONS TIPS NAMES TO call for help appreciated. I really wish I knew some higher up people although going from 3-4 people isn't like 4-5 on rooms and ressies...
But here is the reason I am posting this here:
We have always wanted to add on - so like 25 points in her name through resale even if diff use year might be a good idea so we can get her the DVC rate of AP?
Or would they let us add 25 point contract through Disney but in her name?
Just wondering....
Its how I am coping - He wasn't very happy but I have pictures of how he could have been every day being silly and playful with goofy and grandson. He is a prime example of how Disney can make us forget our hurts and be a kid at heart. (only God can heal those hurts - dad was saved but hurting)
I am cheesy and I had named this trip over a year ago :Time of Our Lives (from the Celebrate You song)
Everyday is the right day
It's easy to understand
Cause you get the chance
And you take it
Make it the best you can make it
Why should you hold back?
It's the time of your life
You don't want to miss out.
On right here and now
There's so many reasons why
You don't wanna stop
It's your chance, live it up
And everything you do
Celebrate you (Oo oh)
Celebrate you (Oo oh) Ah
Everytime is the right time
So make every second count
Go for your dream, you can live it
Reach for the skies is your limit
Celebrate what you're all about Ouuuuh!
Thanks for listening and any ideas - ill be so grateful
If you're going from 3 to 4 people on a dining reservation, personally I wouldn't even try to modify it. They would have a table for 4 earmarked for you. Just show up and tell them you have an extra person. Don't see how it could be a problem.
For Fastpasses, the MDE website has a "copy" feature you can use to try and copy FP selections from one member to another. Try that before you start canceling and re-scheduling things.
As for the add-on, I believe if you buy direct from Disney it has to be deeded the same as your existing points. If that's the case, you could buy and then have the deed re-written to include her. But that will cost several hundred dollars and there are financial (estate) implications with shared ownership. Definitely worth consulting an attorney or financial advisor.
25 point resale contracts are pretty hard to come by and tend to sell for an inflated price due to their scarcity.
Take some time to consider whether it's worth the trouble to save $150 on an AP. Generally speaking she would be entitled to other DVC perks as the guest of a member during any vacation.

Good luck.
Good tips all - yes we will probably just be buying her AP at higher price and not worrying about it.
Fastpass wont let us copy yet bc we can't buy her ticket yet. Only concern is the Frozen sing a long and meet n greet with elsa anna - if we can't get it we will drop it.
We modified the ressie just to make it official for Old Key and a wonderful DVC member Named Martin changed every dining reservation and believe it or not the system gave him some issues changing 3 to 4 - I was shocked.
Tim - She can come as guest to DVC Merry Mixer right? I didn't think of that till reading your post....
Thanks Tim for always being here to answer questions - its appreciated.

I'm glad it's all sorted, even if the system did throw up a few issues along the way. I hope you all have a wonderful time.
Thanks Cheryl - They will let her into the merry mixer with us surely??
I honestly can't remember how it works with the Merry Member Mixer, as it's been some time since we were last there. To be honest though, I would've thought if you explain the situation you've found yourselves in as a family, the Cast Members would be sympathetic to that. Maybe it's worth calling Member Services and having a conversation with them to see what they say?
In the past, they have capped attendance at 6 individuals per DVC membership.

Thank you both. The circumstances plus her functional blindness should be enough but i will call dvc.
