As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). So, we booked our package for our trip at the end of August with a free Memory Maker. When we received all of our travel documents we didn't get a number for Memory Maker. I called and spoke to someone at the Disney Call a Center and after several minutes of silence while she looked for the memory maker, I was told that it can't be activated online and can only be activated at Disney when we check in... We were also told that it would be active immediately once we were down there. So, is this the case? Has anyone else had this experience? I'm just worried that we will lose three days of our memory maker by not having it active before we get there. My son is getting his first haircut when we get there on the first day and I don't want to miss out on those pictures! TIA!
I planned a trip for someone who went this past May and had the free Memory Maker package. Even though when I went into their My Disney Experience account and it looked like it wanted me to link the Memory Maker, when I called and asked they told me since it was part of the package that it was already automatically linked to the account. The person I planned the trip for had no problems using their Memory Maker, so I'm assuming that this was correct - that it was automatically linked to their account from the time of booking.

We bought our memory maker before our trip and once we checked in we were good to go. And I had everyone in our party linked to my memory maker. We had absolutely no problems.
I asked the same thing when I called the other day. The Memory Maker is showing on my account through Disneyworld.com but when I click on the photopass link, it asks me to link a photopass card, a memory maker package and whatever else. The CM told me that it's already linked and when I go in there after we have pictures taken, they will just automatically show up.
My son is getting his first haircut when we get there on the first day and I don't want to miss out on those pictures!
Are you getting his hair cut at Harmony Barber Shop? Make sure you take your own camera, because unless something has changed recently, there aren't photographers in the barber shop. Just don't want you to be disappointed. Our younger son had his first haircut there, and it was a great experience!
I have the same package and was worried about the same thing! I called and was given the same information-that it will be active once I check in. I questioned the 3 day thing and she said it's a completely different thing-that has to do with purchasing it. I was told we would be good to go and it sounds like from a couple previous replies it will work when we get there!
My husband called after I did too. The cm he spoke with explained it better to him than the one I spoke with. Basically, from what we understand and everyone has indicated, since we have the Memory Maker as a part of our package, we don't need to add it to MDE. The information will be in our welcome packet at checkin and all we have to do is input the number on MDE when we get there... 26 days!!!

We didn't have to input any numbers upon arrival. The memory maker was linked to our package and we were good to go because all of the info is already on the magic bands. You should be just fine, and if you aren't sure, you can verify it upon check-in.
I love these boards! I was going to call my travel agent about this very question this morning. So glad I checked here first! One less thing I have to worry about.
