What better way to celebrate becoming a teenager? Disneyland of course!!! - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What better way to celebrate becoming a teenager? Disneyland of course!!!
Well, it looks like my trip to California will include going to DL/CA. Yippee!!!
What is still up in the air is if we will get to spend one or two days. I know we will be able to go one day for sure. I may not know about the second day until we get there.
Here are my cast of characters:
Me-Liz -39 I have been to DL too many times to count, but my last trip was in 1997/98 New Year's Eve. We had a blast. Obviously, I have not been to CA so I am super excited. My fav characters are Mickey (of course), Aurora and Tinkerbell
DD1-Lauren She turns 13 June 19, so we are celebrating her becoming a teenager. Her favorite character is Cinderella. She loves to read, sing, act and dance and plays volleyball.
DD2-Madalyn She is 11 and loves to sing and act, loves soccer and is going to try basketball this fall. Her favorite character is Tinkerbell.
My grandmother-Yvonne I will not give her age. She loves going to DL. Her last trip was with her sister 2 years ago and a few months later she unexpectedly passed away. I know this trip is going to be hard on us both. My plan for the past 4 years has been to take her to CA and get with her sister and go to DL. The last time either of us went to DL she was with us. It will be bittersweet. I will possibly have to get her a wheelchair. She thinks she will be okay with her cane, so we will see.
We will probably have a few other people go with us, some of my cousins. We won't know until we get there.
Dates to California are June 30-July7. I originally had planned to leave the 29 and be there the 30 and go to Disney the 1st, but I have a wedding the 29th in the evening. Now we will go the 2nd and possilbly the 3rd.
Thanks everyone. I had to stop in the middle of my post to evacuate our house since a storm with a tornado was heading our way. We were able to stay away from it and came home late last night to flooded streets and a flooded garage which we have been using as a storage space since we moved. Luckily most of the stuff is in totes not boxes, so hopefully nothing is ruined. So I get to clean out the garage today and tomorrow. Yippee!!

Back to the PTR.
A little backstory-We originally had planned the week before and Disneyland was a definite. Well here is was May and we still hadn't sold our house, so I knew that was going to put a kink in our budget. Paying rent and a house payment is not been easy. I really had hoped it would be sold by now.
Then my great uncle who has been fighting cancer for a couple of years was going downhill. His wife knew it would only be weeks or days. This was right around April 15th. My grandmother called me to let me know what was going on and did I think I could fly out with her to California for the funeral. None of my uncles or my dad could get away from work to go. I told her yes and we have been waiting since then. In the meantime I had decided to cancel the trip altogether because I only had enough vacation time for one or the other.
My uncle went to be with the lord Wednesday. My grandmother's health hasn't been real good the past few weeks so the doctor decided she shouldn't fly. She was a little upset. So my DH and I discussed us driving out for the vacation we had originally planned the week of the 4th of July. I have unfortunately had to use what was lef to my vacation time due to stupid migraines, so I will be taking it without pay. Boo! But I really want to get out to CA to see family before something happens to my grandmother, she's no spring chicken any more.
So, we will leave on the 30th and depending on if we drive straight through or stop, arrive late, late the 30th or sometime the 1st.
Head to DL/CA on the 2nd, maybe 3rd. Then head to Oceanside and stay at a friend's condo for a couple of days. After that head back to San Bernardino and hang by the pool. I want to try to get up to the mountains while we are there. We will see how that goes. Then leave on the 6th to head home.
Disney related things. I am debating on keeping the DL side a secret until we get there and surprising the girls. They think DL is completely out.
Since I may only get 1 day. I have a plan of attack, which I will get into in the next post, but I would appreciate DL veterans to chime in on a plan of attack for both parks. Luckily they have long hours those two days that we could possibly be there.
Sounds like a great plan! We will also be in DL arriving July 2 and staying until
July 6th. Then it's off to the beach. We are staying at the DL hotel. Maybe we
can meet up.

Oh, cool! Definitely! I love meeting fellow PPers.
