As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Boy has my blood gotten thinner since moving to Georgia over 20 years ago. I'm now a delicate Georgia flower.
I woke up in MN this morning to 2 degrees. I was freezing!
It warmed up to a high of 10 degrees. Brrrrr.
My Dad could hardly stop laughing when the little rental car I was in got stuck on the ice in the Applebees parking lot today (2 days ago it got stuck on the ice in their driveway). I had to pull out my old how to rock a car knowledge so I could get moving.
If I ever come to MN again in January I will be:
Renting a 4 wheel drive
adding some long johns to the suitcase
and bringing the video camera so I can tape myself in these predicaments and give the family a good laugh.

I don't mind the cold but I don't like it when it is freezing (single digits and below) one day and 50 the next. I do much better when I can adjust to the cold. I do wish there weren't heating bills in the winter, but at least you can add a fleece or sweatshirt.
I would much rather have cold then heat, probably because this summer we were given our first air conditioner, which I never ended up installing. We had a week of heat and someone offered me the air conditioner but by the time i got it the heat wave was over for the summer.
When I first moved to northern New England from the southern part of the region, I would get stuck in snow banks and on ice on a regular basis-back in the day before cell phones were popular. I don't mind now but do worry about my kids driving. While they are safe drivers, I can't believe the number of people that don't realize an SUV doesn't mean you can speed on ice.
I love the cold, and I hate being hot. We lived in NC for a year and a half and I hated it so much. I think I used my winter coat twice the whole time I was there. I guess I never got used to the heat, but maybe you need to be in a climate a few years before you get used to it.
I know what you mean! Since moving from northern Indiana to southwest Florida a year ago, my blood has definitely gotten thinner! It is very brisk and chilly here today and I am freezing! I wore jeans, socks, shoes, a long sleeved shirt a fleece jacket and a scarf when we out to breakfast this morning!!
Allen just shook his head!
I love the cold!!! I remember going to WDW a few years ago in January and it was chilly, but not as cold as back home. I was wearing shorts, while the natives were dressed in their winter coats!!

It depends on the type of cold. A humid cold is worse than a dry cold.
We were in California in April about 5 yrs ago, and I found it cold and wore a fleece jacket the whole time, while the locals and dh were in shorts and t-shirts, and I am from the Prairies in Canada. Brrr. The wet cold is harder to take.
We were in Florida this past April, and I loved the heat and humidity and dh was having problems with it
We have had a warm fall/winter but this next wk, we are dipping down to minus 30- minus 40 with the windchill. We are so spoiled this yr, that I don't know how any of us will be able to handle the sudden drop of temps.
We've just had our coldest weather this winter with the lows in the teens and the highs in the 20s and my arthritis has literally been a pain in the back-- not fun. But we seem to be in a weather cycle where it gets warm (highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s) and then gets cold, so hopefully later this week the aches will be gone.
We have had our warmest winter til today. It was nice and my bones didn't ache. With the temp change, my hips were sore all last night The school buses might be cancelled due to cold temps. I HATE winter. i want to move.......

I am sure you have been hearing all about how it was 50 degrees here last week!
I chuckle just because this has been the mildest winter I can recall in a long time. We knew the cold had to come...but halfway through January it feels like we have skipped half of winter! (Also considering that last year it snowed before Halloween and for the last time on May 1!)
I think my blood has gotten thinner and I still live here in Wisconsin! My kids can't stand how cold my hands are ALL winter long. Whenever I touch them for whatever reason (hugs, asssisting with clothes, etc), they're always pulling away from my cold hands! And don't even get me started on my cold feet!!!
Can't wait for the day we can retire to Arizona! (or FL, but humidity is a drag....)

My parents moved to Florida from Vermont in 2007. I just got back from spending 2 weeks at their house. It gets cold there but not THAT cold... I mean 30? Come on? That's not cold.... if it is 30 here in January people are in short sleeves. Mom doesn't like turning the heat on because it is expensive so we dress in layers in the house (she keeps it at 60 ). buuuuurrrrrr However mom is all bundled up when she goes outside.
