Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

pregnancy
Eric and I have been broaching the subject of pregancy recently. We're not married yet, but have plans for April. (I think our parents would be upset and overjoyed at the same time if we got pregnant prior to the marriage, but hey, what can ya do?)
We're currently using birth control (the Patch) and watching my cycles . WE plan to use natural planning after the wedding to GET pregnant. However, we've also talked about the possibility of what if I did end up pregnant before our trip. I don't like the fast scary rides anyway....I cried through Tower of Terror back in 1999 and had an anxiety attack afterward.
What experiences does anyone have with WDW and being pregnant???

Re: pregnancy
I have been to WDW when I was 6 months pregnant and still had an AWESOME time. There were a few things that I couldn't ride - the rollercoasters, Splash Mountain, etc... At the time we had one child and he was 2 so he couldn't ride those either, so he and I sat those rides out while the others rode.
I really didn't feel like I missed too much. There are soooo many rides at Disney that you can ride that I'm sure if you do end up pregnant before your trip that you will have a great time. Hopefully Eric will be OK riding the wilder stuff by himself.
Have a great time either way, and congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

Re: pregnancy
I've been to Disney twice at the beginning of my pregnancies. I found I just needed to drink a LOT of water and rest when necessary (a daily nap was a great choice). I chose to go on some rides that were questionable (RNR, etc). I conferred with my midwife and made what I believe was an informed decision (I'm certainly not telling anyone else I think it is okay for them to go on certain rides pregnant)--I had a great time and everything was fine. Listen to your body and what it needs and talk with your OB/GYN or CNM and get directions from them!

Re: pregnancy
We went to WDW when it was only the Magic Kingdom and Epcot and I was nearly 7 months pregnant. No problems at all. Keep well hydrated, eat regularly, rest alot especially if it's hot. I don't like many of the fast thrill rides anyway, so strolling around Epcot was perfect--it takes 5 root beer floats to get all the way around the lake...

Re: pregnancy
I went to WDW when I was 24 weeks preggers, the only difference was I had just gotten out of the hospital with a kidney infection. So my dr. told me he didn't care if I went but that I had to rest a lot!! I told him that was easy b/c all I wanted to do was eat my way through all 4 parks and several of the resorts. He said eating sounded like a perfect way to spend a week. I didn't do any of the big rides, but I think if you follow your body (as another has said) you should do fine.

Re: pregnancy
Pregnancy is not a problem whatsoever at Disney. I went there during my 2nd trimester when I was pregnant with TWINS. I had a high risk pregnancy, and the day I got there, had a prgnancy complication (I won't go into detail and gross out our male readers). Anyway, my high risk OB at home told me I could stay, but I should be in a wheelchair for 3 days. Even that was a piece of cake. Obviously, there were rides that I couldn't do, but we had so much fun. There were tons of rides for me to do, and it was a great trip...even with a hard pregnancy like mine. So, don't worry at all!

Re: pregnancy
These are all great ideas! I can't really help you on this topic, but here is a good link that may help!
http://wdwig.com/pregnant.htm
Also, when are you going? I'll check later, but I think the Guide for guests with disabilities has descriptions of who shouldn't ride certain attractions. If it does, I'll post here, and if you want since I am leaving in 12 days, I can get you a copy of each one for each park if it says anything about riding certain things while pregnant. Good luck! Re: pregnancy
If it makes you feel any better, my mom GOT pregnant with me while she was there, and she did OK. Maybe you could "hold off" a bit till you get down there, and then try to concieve at Disney. Y'know, it is the most magical place on earth.

Re: pregnancy
We went to Disney and the Disney Cruise when I was 3 months pregnant. I was still having morning sickness. But we still had an awesome time. How bad can you feel when you are with Mickey! It was a great trip. Also being pregnant gives you an excuse to eat, eat and eat!

Re: pregnancy
I was 23 weeks pregant when we went 9/16-9/21/01
It wasn't too bad except it was danged hot. I couldn't ride the bumpy rides but did ride most of the rides in Fantasyland, the Haunted House, The Tomorrowland Transit Authority, Buzz Lightyear, nothing in AK that I remember, The Great Movie Ride at MGM, and Spaceship Earth at Epcot. Not a whole lot, but I was plenty entertained.
I did ALOT of waiting since I had a husband, sister, mother and 2 girls who were off riding rides left and right.
It was fine for me, though, I didn't have one regret about going and am looking forward to taking the baby (now 21 mos) to WDW in February
Best wishes,
Cami

Re: pregnancy
The Cruise line restricts anybody who is 25 weeks or more from going on the cruise ship.
