As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I decided to cut down my friends list on Facebook to people that I actually know so little by little I'm deleting people which unfortunately include passporter friends. Please don't take it personally but Facebook has been pretty strange lately and I'm actually debating killing my account all together.
I still love keeping up with everyone here on Passporter and hope no one is offended by this.

There is one exception to this and it's Joan. I must say Joan you crack me up and I just couldn't delete you from my Facebook account. I still remember a trip report you wrote once that had the "taco bed" in it. It was the best trip report I ever read.
We're not FB friends, so I'm not offended at all. I know a lot of people who are starting to realize that the word "Friend" implies more than "I tell you personal things about myself through the internet, although we've never actually met." and they are also weeding out their FB accounts. I currently have 34 FB friends, and I think only one of them is someone I've never actually met in person.

I to done the same thing. There is only 5 people I have not met in person yet. Those 5 people have helped me when I was in a very low place in my life so they stay. I to still care about all my PP friends on here and don't want to upset anyone but I am trying to straighten out my life and stop all the drama. I can't remember if we were FB friends or not. If so I am not offended. I think must people will understand where you are coming from. You have to do what feels right for you and try not to worry if you upset someone.

I have about 90 people on my facebook account, and that's mostly friends from college and family. There are a few people I haven't met in person yet, but every one of them is a person I've been online-friends with for a decade or more. I'm pretty picky about who I friend, especially since I post so much about my little girl.

I would never leave Passporter and will still post and be friends with everyone on here. To tell you the truth, the weirder Facebook gets the more I'm on Passporter. Although I will be off Passporter for 4 days next week but I can't remember why????? . . . Oh yeah that's right I'll be at Disney World!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've done the same thing Kris. Some people will be offended no matter what, but that is their issue. FB really seems to bring out the worst in people at time.

I only have about 34 "friends" on Facebook. I think there is only one that I haven't met in person. All the others I personally know. I also keep everything on the private setting where you need to be a "friend" to see any info or my wall etc.
1500 friends on FB but most are gamers but I had some school and Disney friends added. I got to clean house as some are nuts. The new changes are making somethings impossible and one person suddenly is in my news feed posting stuff I do not like. I do not like all the changes.
I follow about 150 disney sites but most I rarely if ever visit. Passporter is on my DISNEY PAGES so that I can see anything new posted by them. look for Laurie with the green frog avatar.

I am infrequently on Facebook and hardly ever notice if someone unfriends me or not. Facebook is just not that important to me.

Hi Kris: We aren't FB friends so I wouldn't be offended anyway. I'm sure many people have deleted me and I have no idea...I'm not that into FB. Anyway, just wanted to say "hi"...K must be a junior this year. Hope all is well in her hockey world! My DD is a sophomore and can't wait for HS hockey season to begin.
