As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. We are going on a trip to WDW this coming November, and will be attending the Christmas party as well as enjoying all of the decorations and so forth.
We will be celebrating my youngest nephew's 2nd birthday and this will be pretty much everyone's Christmas present. Of course the three boys will still end up with a few Santa toys.
However I would like to make scrapbooks from the trip for my mom, grandmother, and sister. I have never scrapbooked before. I have done most other crafts, and have been doing various forms of art for most of my life.
I need all the help I can get... what is the best way to start. I'm not looking at this as a long term hobby, as I have too many of those already. But this is what I can see will be a great "token" to represent the trip we took.
I felt much the same when I started scrapping a few years ago. I was very unsure about how to start out, so I just "felt my way" for a while. I decided that I wanted it to relate to the photos I took, which are printed 6 x 4, so I opted to do 12 x 12 scrapbooks, so I could fit a variety of photos on to each page.
One thing I would say is that the way you scrapbook will develop over time. If I look back at my first pages now, I'd probably be very embarrassed by them. However, you grow in confidence and, as you do, you change the way you do things.

I just started scrapping last year and it turned into card making. As you are not sure how big of a hobby scrapping would be to you, you probably don't want to invest in and buy a Cricut or Sizzix (die cutting machines). You may want to look into buying scrap kits. These kits come with paper, stickers, letters etc that are already themed. There are many websites and many Disney themes. Or you can shop your local craft store and put together your own pages. Do you have a Michaels or Archivers nearby? Many craft stores offer scrap lessons or crop nights where you are able to use many scrapbooking tools (like the Cricut) for a small fee.
If you are a computer person and know Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, you may be interested in digital scrapping. Again, many sites sell digital papers and kits to help you create a page. You could also print multiple copies, so it would be easy to create the other books for your family. There are several photo sites that put together books.
Also, don't be afraid to scraplift. Find layouts you like and modify them for your page.

I began scrapbooking (well, digitally) through the site Shutterfly. They have books that you can make with the papers, can choose the layouts (or have it choose the layout and picture placement for you - it does a pretty good job, especially when/if you're in a hurry).
The only thing you end up buying is the finished product. I never considered myself willing/able to scrapbook until I started doing this. Now I will be digitally scrapbooking my daughter's senior album!
I have done a book every year and every vacation since 2005 (when I got my digital camera).
I agree that Shutterfly might be the way to go. You won't have to invest in a lot of supplies, and you can print multiple copies of the same book as gifts for everyone. I have done this to make books for my mom and daughter and have been happy with the results.
Digital scrapbooking? I practically LIVE on Photoshop, my degree is in computer graphic design and animation (yeah, never going to get a job in THAT field), it is what I use for my combination costuming and photo editing art pieces.
I will definitely have to do it that way. I have many, many hobbies. Jewelry making, costume making, general crafting of needed items, computer gaming, RPG, Archery, Renaissance Faires, and trying to get started in the SCA. I really don't need to pick up ANOTHER full time one.
I love scrapbooking, having a DGD, I really love putting her pics in special albums. Also, all of my Disney pics are now in albums. This pass Mother's Day my wonderful DD and DSIL gave me Mickey and Friends cartridge for my Cricut. Now I have my DD scrapbooking too!!!!!......

I'm a graphic designer too! I prefer to digital scrap as it's EASY and fast (and just like work, kind of). I like to add some traditional embellishments after the page is printed, so I keep my pages 8x8 instead of 12x12 as I don't have large format printer (yet). Lots of reference materials out there. Just google digital scrapbooking. I also used to make jewelry, but now it's cards. I try to only have one hobby at a time.

I haven't tried the digital thing -- I like my fingerprints on my pages. Besides, I have way too much stuff I need to use up.
If you don't want to go digital, I'll second the recommendation for page or album kits. Michaels, JoAnns and Archivers all sell them.
There are some Disney albums out there that come prepackaged with papers and stickers -- it may not be enough for a whole album, but with willpower you can buy just enough to finish.
There are also Disney paper "stacks" that coordinate so that you can use things together.
Also, for a one-time small project, or a gift, I would suggest you look at a smaller size book, like an 8 x 8.
And in the interest of full disclosure, we may not be the best folks to ask if you really don't plan to take this up -- we're all just a bunch of scrapbook enablers (Seriously, though -- we'd love to help you out in any way we can.)
I am also an Army Brat, so I understand. RPG are role playing games and can be computerized (I stopped playing World of Warcraft...cost money and I'm just not that dedicated to it) but usually is in reference to Dungeons and Dragons, or other pencil and paper games out there like it. It is like organized story telling or like playing SIMS without a computer. It isn't all only wizards and so forth. My favorite games are steam punk or historical with no magical bits.
I have been poking around for a bit of digital, and am going to go ahead with a "trial run" on pictures from DS5's first WDW trip last spring.

I also do a lot of digital scrapbooking. You can upload your creations to sites like shutterfly to print your books. I use PSE mostly because I do not have the full photoshop suite. One digital scrapbooking blog that gives me lots of insiration is Simply Yin. simply yin. I have downloaded MANY of her templates and used them. Good luck!!
