As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). I have all my shopping done, except for DH. I had no idea what to get him until I saw on FB this morning that Red Sox single game tickets go (went) on sale at 10:00 a.m. today.
Well, I've been in the "virtual waiting room" for a little more than 4 hours now . Pixies please that I'll be able to buy tix when (IF) I ever get to the purchase queue!

It's crazy, isn't it? I have been on there twice today, Once I gave up on it~And am now back on there, lol. Did you try calling as well? I think it's only for games in April and May right now, isn't it? I swear they sell alot of tickets to the agencies that then turn around and sell them for profit
I haven't tried calling.....DBiL says that he has buddies that do this a lot. Not uncommon for them to be in the queue for 8 hours . But I don't know how far ahead of the official " on sale" time they go in the queue. The game at the top of my list has turned yellow ( ie limited availability)
Do you know anyone with season tickets? They might sell you a game or two. For many years my Ex shared a season ticket with a friend. Between the two of them, they probably only went to a quarter of the games they had tickets to and sold off the rest to friends, co-workers and and friends of friends, They sold them at the ticket price and didn't want to make a profit but found it was the only way to get good seats for the Red Sox. They never had a problem getting all the extra tickets sold.
I did try calling and the games/dates I want are standing room only now. I can get upper bleachers for a week day game so I asked DH but he said never mind. So now I'm back to square one with my shopping for him .
We've got the same problems with Mark's parents, as I've had three or four great ideas for them and all of them have gone up in smoke for one reason or another - and last night his mum just told us to get them money...

During the season they have monthly luncheons ($30 per person), where they almost always have someone from the Red Sox in attendance. Usually an up & coming or retired player. Luncheons are during the week of an evening game, so the opposing team usually has someone in attendance as well (not always a player). We've met Justin Masterson, Dwight Evans, Dennis Eckersley, Manny DelCarmen, Brandon Moss, Yaz, Rico Petrocelli, Don Zimmer, Jed Hoyer (he was assistant GM of the Red Sox at that point...now the GM of the Padres...I'm sure that has something to do with being able to get Gonzo & how he knew which up & coming players to get from the Red Sox), Lou Gorman....there have been others, but I'm drawing a big blank right now. If you go through the photos in the albums on the website, you can see who prior guests have been. It's always a surprise! At each luncheon, they also have a raffle to win Red Sox memorabilia...almost always signed. My dad won a 16x20 signed Lester photo for the price of a $1 ticket!
In addition to the luncheons, they also have BBQ's a few times a year at Fenway. The price is reasonable, but you do have to have a ticket to that game. You can either go in with your own ticket or purchase a BBQ/ticket combo. The tickets are usually in the right field or bleacher sections, but you aren't getting scalped like you would if you purchase tickets from an outside vendor. They also have Spring Training BBQs in Ft. Myers, applying the same system.
The best event they hold is BoSox Club Family Day. Each member is afforded 3 tickets if they choose to enter the lottery. We have entered 3 times and received tickets each time. Attendees are allowed to enter the park around 1pm for a question & answer session with 3 Red Sox players (always a surprise). Carl Bean, the voice of the Red Sox, officiates. After that, members are allowed to watch the Red Sox batting practice and are also given a hot dog & drink, followed by the game. Again, the seats are in the right field or bleacher section. This event alone, makes it worth the cost of the membership of $90/year.

I wanted to second Dyan;s idea of the Bosox Club. My middle son and his DGF are membbers and get to go to several games a year with half way decent seats.

Anytime! Each person does not need to be a member. I have gone to the luncheons and taken Kyle and other times taken Kyle & Jeffrey. I just had to include the number of people attending and enclose a check for the appropriate amount. I think they also might have a lower price for children under a certain age, if they would be eating a kid's meal instead of an adult meal. As long as the tickets aren't sold out, there shouldn't be a problem. I'm pretty sure there may be a limit on the number of guests a member can take to the BBQ game events, but I'm not certain on that.
