As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Awesome! We are going to be staying at CSR for Christmas time too. That special was the same one that made us decide we were going to Disney for Christmas too! And like you said after about 3 min of planning told us that was a bad idea...but we can't give it up lol!
I'd love to do it, but the family who actually HAS the kid couldn't afford to do it that week. Some day though. Some day!

When last we met I was waxing poetic about our marathon day of planning, and I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how helpful I found the entire PP community! Having the book at our disposal was great, but also having everyone here to bounce ideas off of was a great help and made the planning as stress free as possible!
All of that stress free planning helped us come up with a giant list of places we’d like to eat, and a tiny list of places we don’t want to eat. It also helped us decide which to go to and when. Just listing a restaurant isn’t any fun. I want to let you all know why we chose what we did.
For our first choice, I had seen some photos on a PhotoBlog which I can’t remember the name of, and it looked cool, so I looked up the menu and all of the food sounded so good, it matched with the atmosphere I saw in the pictures perfectly, so we had to choose The Wave as our first night Dinner.
We’ll be arriving in Orlando around 10:30 AM so I figure we’ll get to the resort, drop off our bags and hit Hollywood Studios around noon. At about 6:00 we’ll take a boat to the Yacht Club, walk over to Epcot and take the Monorail to the Transportation Center, transfer and head over to the Contemporary for our dinner at 7:30, at which I plan to have a surprise in store for Beth.
The next day is our MK day, so we’re going to get up early and have our Breakfast at Kona Café at 8:00, and then head to the park hopefully for Rope Drop at 9:00. I’m looking forward to almost everything on their menu, so I don’t know what I’ll wind up having.
Since we’re attending the Christmas Party that night, we figured dinner in the MK was a good idea, and the Traditional menu of the Liberty Tree Tavern appealed to us, so we’ll be headed there at 5:30 so we can get out in time for the party to start at 7:00.
Our next day will be spent mostly at Epcot, which is both of our favorite park. I figure by about 5:30 we’ll be dead on our feet, so we figured a nice stroll over to the Boardwalk and head over to the Flying Fish for 6:00, which looks AMAZING for two seafood lovers like us!

Great trip report so far! I saw when you were going to WDW in your signature and just had to come and read your PTR since our trip is planned for the same date . I have to agree with you in that everyone here on the PP are fantastic to help plan a trip. Can't wait to hear more

I saw that too! It'll be such a great time to be in "The World"! I've been reading your PTR off and on. I'll have to go catch up.
I'm joining the party. This sounds like it's going to be a really nice trip for the two of you. I remember the first time my DH (then fiance) went together, and it was one of my favorite trips. I too will be dining at Kona Cafe for the very first time on our upcoming trip, so I'll let you know how it is.
I warned you all that things would be changing. And they are, but not TOO much.
The trip pretty much planned itself, and with our addition of the MVMCP it kind of locked us in on what parks to do when and when and where to do meals, so there’s not too much room for changes.
What did change pretty quickly though was the Flying Fish. It’s a Signature meal, which we didn’t realize when we made the plans. I’m glad we double checked, because it gave us a chance to look for something else.
What we came up with is right down the Boardwalk at Captains Grille. The menu looks stuffed with things I’ll be dying to try, so it was an easy swap. I mean look at it. Clam Chowder? Grilled Pork Chop? Gelato? Sign me up!!! Plus, it’s close by so we’re not changing our plans too much.
With that decided, it was ready to Book ADRs!!! I logged in on the 180th day, this was way back in June at this point, and I got each and every dinner I wanted. I was so happy!
So to recap, we have:
The Wave at 7:30 on Thursday Dec 2.
We then have Breakfast at the Kona Cafe on Friday the 3rd at 8:00
Dinner before Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at 5:45 at Liberty Tree Tavern on the 3rd.
and Finally Dinner at the Captains Grille at 6:00 on Saturday the 4th.

You'll have to let me now! The menu looks FANTASTIC!!! I really can't wait! I'm actually planning to take my whole family there when we go in April. But that's a whole other PTR that I haven't even started!!!
Glad that you found another restaurant that you liked to replace Flying Fish. Sounds like you will have a great time. I know Kona for breakfast looks good.
