As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Okay, before anyone jumps all over that title, please know I'm kidding!!!
DD is 10 and has had a huge growth spurt this summer. She's almost as tall as me. Thank goodness it's shorts season (though sometimes she's given full meaning to the label "shorts")
And she's adopted that typical teenage sleep pattern. It's almost 10 and I haven't heard a peep out of her.
Admittedly, she's been a night owl from the day she was born. (Born at 8 pm. and still wide awake after midnight. )
But I can't help but think -- they say babies grow while they sleep. So maybe I should cut her off on the sleep thing.
Updated: Here's the really crazy part. Her feet haven't grown a bit! One of our errands today was to renew the rental contract on her ice skates for the next year, and trade up for a bigger size. We rented this pair last September. The guy checked her feet, checked the old contract, checked her feet again, had her try the old skates on ... we left with the same pair we rented last year! We can exchange them for a bigger size anytime during the lease, but still -- Whodathunk?

I am with you on the sleep thing. I have an almost 10 year old DD. I have gone up to make sure she's breathing on more than one occasion this summer! She's been sleeping at least 12 hours most nights recently! She's not had the huge growth spurt that your daughter has though - that's been my 12 year old DS - his feet have grown an amazing amount - glad he's been in flip flops and bare feet at the beach most of the summer!
Tomorrow is the first day of school here so I know I am going to hate tomorrow morning. Believe it or not my DS12 gets up no problem. He is usually up before me playing on his Playstation 3. Its usually my DS9 who is not the morning person. Last year I resorted to basing some of his allowance on whether or not he was grouchy in hte morning and it worked.
None of my kids have hit growth spurts yet though. At least I havent noticed it but my DD3 is a big girl. She is tall.
DD is 11 and her feet have gone up two sizes since the fall! We had to go buy all new sneakers, cleats, and shoes for school. Although she doesn't appear to gave grown much taller or wider as all her clothes still fit (thank goodness)! If I let her, she'd be up late every night and sleep till probably 9, but we start school next week so we're trying to get up earlier and go to bed earlier.
My 12 year old is 5'6". That makes her taller than her 3 sisters. They're 5'2" (33 yr. old), 4'11"(27 yr. old), and 5'5"(17 yr. old). They are NOT happy the kid is so tall. The 12 yr. old is still growing, the others are pretty much done. Doctor thinks she's going to be about 6'2"!! She wears a women's size 10 shoe, and it's starting to look like those won't be big enough soon.
I feel your pain. I'm always glad that Lauren can/likes to wear Bermuda shorts to school. I cringe whenever we have to go find jeans for her. I always think I should be looking for a "size 4, extra, extra,extra long leg".
11yo is the same way, she grew 3" in 6 weeks over the summer. Almost brand new clothes: donated. Her feet have grown a bit, too, but not at the rate the rest of her is. She's almost as tall as 14yo and already taller than 22yo.
I've heard that bricks stacked on the head works... j/k!
Maybe if you stopped feeding them..........obviously just kidding.
DS is growing like a weed too. And I sent him to Wash DC/VA last month and I'm pretty sure the twerp grew in the 15 days he was down there. Maybe it was all the rain, humidity and sunshine!

Shoe size doesn't always have much to do with height. I'm 5'11" and only wear a size 8 1/2 shoe!! I have a serious complex about my feet being too small for my body (I have a big frame - wide shoulders, wide hips, the whole bit, but tiny - for my height - feet.). But then again, it's easier for me to find the cute shoes in my size than my BFF who's 5'9" but has size 11 feet!

Well, if the sleep deprivation and the bricks on her head don't work, you could always stop feeding her. Seriously though, isn't it amazing how fast they grow during these growth spurts. I swear Kyle grew two feet taller one year!
Some weird advice: make sure she’s putting some kind of shea or cocoa butter on her skin every day. I shot up like that, and I have weird stretch marks on the backs of my legs from getting so tall so quickly.
DS went through a growth spurt from 9-about 12 and his feet did too. He was a 13 at one point, but is now an 11. Go figure. And maybe it was the sleeping, because I think that was pretty much all he did all summer...

DS13 is currently growing about a quarter inch a week. He is thrilled to now be a full inch taller than me.
I haven't threatened bricks, but have said I'm going to start feeding him nothing but Pepsi & Pop Rocks. Figure that can't be helpful for growth!
