As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

((((((((((hugs)))))))))) I totally understand!!! My dh use to work from home a few days a week, but this last year he really hasn't been able to. I REALLY miss him being home with the kids and me. We are a close family too and just enjoy being together. We are hopeful that he will be able to come back home for work in the next few months. We'll see... I'm sure your dh is missing being home as well. Make him an extra special dinner tonight and maybe watch a movie as a family.
Thank you so much everyone for the hugs and pixies. The boys have asked about daddy several times but not in a sad way. I have been keeping everyone busy with games and drawing and play-doh. I got some cleaning done and one of my hubby's favorite dinners in the slow cooker. My little guy is resisting his nap but other than that we are all doing pretty well....so far.

oh, we are a very close family, no kids but my husband and I can spend the whole day and not get tired of each other. We LOVE to be together, never have enough of each other and have been married 22 years!

Sorry I missed this yesterday.... so how did it go when he came home??? I'm hoping the boys were just thrilled to pieces!!! And I really hope today is going well for you too.
My DH has never worked at home so I don't know what that would even be like. He leaves for work at 5:30am and is home around 4pm every day. The hardest part is getting the kids ready for school in the morning all by myself! The kids are pretty well used to it and they actually don't do much anymore when he comes home from work!!! It used to be "yay! Daddy's home!" But now it's just "oh, hey daddy." But then, mine are a bit older than yours! I think the kids will adjust OK, but you may take more time!!!! Continued good luck to you and I hope this is a quick transition for you and your family!!!

OK I totally get where your coming from. My DH has always worked from home
even when I didn't. Once DD was born it was nice having him around and even
though he traveled for business every month I could always count on him if I
was sick or needed a break. It was also nice eating meals together and he liked
to be with DD during those times. Well a year ago he started a new job and works
at the office 80% of the time. Leaves at 7:30 a.m. and is home around 6:30 p.m.
With travel he is gone WAY more than he is home. We both aren't happy with this
new routine and DD really misses him. What I've found that helps is staying busy.
Make sure you take time several times a week to leave the house and find some-
thing to do. Also when your DH gets home, use that time for yourself and let him
take over with the kids. Since my DD(3) goes to bed around 7:30 this gives my DH
an hour to talk with her and play a game or read a book. Once she is down we can
talk and enjoy our time together.
You will get through this but it will take some getting used to.
