Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

If the ride requires you to put items in a locker, they will not let you into the line (queue) with a backpack!

This rule includes pocketbooks, cameras, sunglasses, anything that you are carrying or that is loose... it has to go into a locker. There are several rides that are like this. The water rides tend to have free locker service for an hour, while other lockers charge you a couple dollars. Oh and for me .. I found having a piece of paper and a pen to write down the locker number was vital..... I tend to get CRS when we would get a locker.

My info might be a bit outdated because my last trip was in '06 but every ride that requires you to use a locker (the Hulk, the Dragons, the water rides, The Mummy, and MIB are the ones I remember just off the top of my head) had a free one hour grace period, then if you aren't back in an hour to retrieve your stuff, you have to pay to open it. I wonder what they're doing for FJ if the queues are really 3-6 hours long

And a PassPorter Passholder hanging around your neck will not be allowed either. I made it all the way through the queue at The Mummy only to be told when I was boarding that I wasn't allowed to take it on. I stuffed it inside my shirt and asked if that was ok and they hmmmm'd and haw'd a bit and let me go on but said that next time it has to go in a locker.

If it fits in your pocket, you should be fine. I actually saw several people in line with their SLRs, shopping bags, and other things. I'm not sure what happened to them when they got to the end though. The signs and park map were very explicit in stating that all loose items must be put in a locker before getting in line. I'm quite certain you can take drinks though, since you'll be waiting in line for quite some time.
Hats were also allowed while in line. I guess people just sat on them during the ride.

be careful if you put anything in your pockets on some of the rides that require stuff to be put into lockers. A friend of mine put her cell phone in her pocket on MIB. It flew out of her pocket. She told them about it & they told her to come back the next day because they look for lost objects at night. She got her phone back wit a few scratches.

My DH was wearing cargo shorts on the Mummy. His water bottle easily fit inside the side pocket, but he was still made to remove it before riding. I wouldn't put anything in my pocket that I didn't mind losing. I would think a cell phone is small enough to be ok, but I'd be sure I had a pocket that buttoned.

I put my phone and sunglasses in my pockets every time, and they never fell out. I had shorts with button pockets though, and buttoned them every time. HP&tFB wasn't that rough though.

I didn't mean losing from the ride, I meant if a ride attendant tells you to take it out of your pocket. It happened to us - thankfully it was just a water bottle. It was a reusuable water bottle.

Just wanted to say that all the rides requiring objects to go in lockers are free! If the lockers aren't free, then you can take your stuff on the ride (I think Jurassic Park is where that happened) The amount of time that the locker is available for free is dependant on the line wait time. You should be able to ride once without having to pay. All you have to do is scan your finger to get one so it's quick and easy too (if it won't read your finger, wipe off the place you put it)

And if you try to sneak stuff past the first team members you see, one will catch you and make you get out of line to go put it in a locker (saw that happen on Rip Ride Rockit). So make sure everything is put away safe and sound!

If in doubt put it in the locker, nothing worse than getting to the line and being sent back. And designate 1 person in your group to put everything in the locker, the rows are very small and 4 people crowded around the door makes things difficult for everyone else. Also use the same person and same finger every time for the sensor, I can't tell you how many people were frustrated because they couldn't remember what one they had used. The person waiting behind you usually isn't too happy either.

HOw about a fanny pack? It's not really loose since it's latched around your middle. Or is it in the way of the bars and straps?

We just got back from Universal studios.. The lockers were free for the length of the wait.. and when we went on Hulk, the line was fairly long so the kids kept their refillable bottle that we purchased for them. When we got to the ride, they let the kids put the bottles to the side..
