Ahhh Hubby surprised me by saying we're taking Jetblue instead of SWA! - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ahhh Hubby surprised me by saying we're taking Jetblue instead of SWA!
We are going to take a night flight so we can get to Orlando in the morning from California. We are going to wing it on arrival day. May stay at the resort, hop over to MK. But we are going to do CS that day since I am out of TS credits on the DDP and we don't want to be held to ADR's on arrival day since we may or most probably will be very tired travelling with an infant and 4 yo on a night flight. Are we completely nuts to try this with such young ones? Or will we be better off?
Flying Jetblue roundtrip.. ?? Any thoughts? Opinions? I haven't flown them in years. Do they participate in Resort Check in?
Doesn't my DH know by now what an overplanner I am? This is a good thing, but ahhh the planning! LOL
Have your kids flown before? That might make a difference for sleeping on the plane. We took a red eye flight from California to Chicago once. I couldn't sleep at all and was beyond crabby by time we landed in Chicago.
We had a good experience with them when we flew JetBlue a couple of years ago.
Good to know Thanks

My dd has.. she does really well on planes and cars as long as we remember her entertainment. DS will only be 2 months old at the time and will be flying for the first time during this trip. I hope he's as easy going as his sister. If not DH has volunteered to stay up with him while I get some shut eye. This may be the reason for us to stay at the resort and just swim and relax on arrival day. We all may need naps when we get to WL. I just hope our rooms are ready early enough. If not DH is going to need a ton of coffee.
I'm on the west coast, and I know a few friends who like to take the red eye to get to east coast in the morning. I don't cause I can't sleep on planes very well, It's hard enough for me to adjust to eastern time! 9Aam rope drop is 6am on the west coast! ugh!
I think it's a good idea to have a relaxing day your first day. Maybe take the boat over to MK for awhile, then relax at WL, swim, etc. We like Roaring Forks, but you also have the option to take the boat over to CR to try out their CS, or one of the other monorail resorts!

That's why the back up plan .. in case DH is completely up the entire night.. which I highly doubt.. LOL.. I think more likely it will be me since DS will still be BFD'g at the time. Luckily we all sleep anywhere.. my DD still naps in the stroller at this age which is heaven sent while we are out. OOOhh.. I never thought of all the CS places at the monorail resorts. Any favorites? We were also considering DTD since this may be the only time we get to go this trip.. Any fun places for kids to run around? Last time I went to DTD we literally just went for dinner and strolled out.

I prefer redeyes to having to adjust to east coast time at 8:00 at night after a day of travelling. Of course, since we take SWA, that's exactly what happens - at 9:00, we're trying to get the kids down and it's only 6:00 PST!
Our kids have no problem sleeping on a plane nor does DH. I can sleep in fits and starts. But, if I can push through it, then we will all be magically on EST by the next morning...
My little sister (age 15) flew Jet Blue this January to meet us in Jan. I am not sure if it was because she was a minor traveling alone but she said everyone was very nice to her. She had a nonstop flight.
My TA called the Magical Express and explained we were driving to Florida and my sister was flying they gave us a bus ticket for her with my travel docs. However we decided to arrive early and stay off the resort the night before so my sister isn't left at the airport if we get stuck in traffic or something we just deiced to pick her up. Later before our checkout day they still called us and asked us if we wanted to ride the bus to the Airport but we dropped her off.
Another thing, my DH had a work emergency during our trip he had to fly out the evening on the 15th and come back the evening on the 16th (my son's birthday) I went to the desk at the POP and explained that I can't drive in new confusing places with two children they called Magic Express and they said they can't accommodate him. The bag boys at the Magic Express counter ran out back got my DH a ticket for a free cab ride and one for on the way back. They told him this way he doesn't need to arrive early and then come back late at the airport and miss time with our birthday boy.
I don't know where you are flying from but I found a great price on a redeye flight from SFO to MCO on Air Tran. We decided to do that instead of a morning flight because we would have to stay in a hotel by the airport and get up at 3am to make a 6am flight anyway so I figured a redeye would be as much sleep We aren't making any firm plans the first day just seeing what we feel like when we get there.

Luckily none of us have any problem sleeping anywhere.. it's staying awake that's our problem.. LOL.. I'm hoping the redeye gives us more rest than waking up at 3am would. Wish us luck.. LOL.. hopefully DS who will only be 2 months old will cooperate

Glad to hear they treat ppl so well. I haven't flown them in years since they first came to Oakland, CA. Thanks

Airtran huh? How is their service? I've heard such horror stories. Hmm.. will have to check out the pricing Thanks for the tip. SFO isn't that far from us.
