We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler Trip, PTR - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler Trip, PTR! Teaser Pictures in my most recent post
Hey everyone, just thought I'd share my good news, Skyler & I are going on a very last minute trip to WDW. Erick & I were talking when he got home that he still owed me a trip(we didn't wind up going to Texas). He mentioned to me going to see my mom, and I did ask him if a day at Disney just Skyler & I would be ok, and well the trip Is going to be 4 days 3 nights. Erick isn't coming with us this time, but I am so glad he thinks Skyler & I should have time together with Mickey!
Skyler & I are planning to go from Sunday, May 16- Wednesday, May 19, 2010 with the promotion they have going on. We are planning to stay at ASMovies(thinking Skyler will get a kick out of seeing the lifesize Pongo & Purdita as well as Buzz & Woody(he is just now getting into Toy Story and loves both TS & TS2).
We are planning to take an early fligt from Washington, Dulles that Subday Morning, and taking an after 6pm Flight back home and using DME!
I am getting the QS Dining plan foe myself and will either share my food with Skyler or it will be those meals for me and OOP Kids Meals for him. Since he's still 2, we only have to pay Airfare, as well as any OOP Meals for him and any Souvies(Mickey Mouse Ears for us both).
I cannot wait to ride Dumbo again after not riding it for over 20+ years. I am also just looking foward to riding any ride with him, standig in line to meet the characters, watching the parades, fireworks, and most of all spending time going to Disney at his pace. I know there will be rides I'll want to take him on, but I'm not making a game plan of what to ride and when. I so need to see if May's EMH's are posted to plan our daily park schedule, but it will be so nice to see Skyler meet his faves (which besides Pooh, Mickey, Minnie, & Goody are all FiFi to him).
Awesome! That's only a month and a half away, how exciting!
Thank you so much. I'm so excited as stressful as it may be to go with an almost 3 year old by myself. Thank goodness for Disney Deals! I can't believe it's a month and a half away, but 4 days with my little one whom loves Mickey as much as his Mom will make it fun.
Thank you so much Dawn & Cheryl. I was so dissappointed our trip for our Anniversary fell through, but I am so thankful and appreciative that Erick is lettin Skyler & I go. The price seemed too good to pass up on and I really need a little getaway. I think Erick realizes as hard as he works, I don't get out of the house much anymore(at all it's very rare), so at least this will be a special trip for Skyler & I to spend together. Oh yeah and I finally got my 2010 Passporter today to help me plan the trip! I am planning with low expectations, knowing we may not hit everything, but it will still be fun. I am happy Erick thinks the price for he Values is pretty reasonable(I think why he agreed to letting us stay an extra night) so getting around with Skyler will be more easy taking the busses & DME. The only thing I need to talk Erick into letting me purchase before the trip is the PP CD, otherwise I may not be in many of the pictures, they'll all be of Skyler.
Thank you all for sharing my excitement with me. Only problem is I will be missing DFil's Birthday, but maybe my mom will be able to meet us for a day so I can wish her a Happy Birthday in person(her's is the day before our arrival, and DFil's is the day after her's). And since Skyler is a night owl, we may be able to make it for EMHs. I can just play it by ear with him, but I am looking foward to spending time with Skyler in my favorite place and seeig smiles on his face(hopefully a few kisses from him too, although Erick deserves those the most). I think I know DHS is open the latest our first day, so his favorite of Playhouse Disney will be in order of business(and hopefully a picture and autograph of his favorite Handy Manny).
Happy Passover & Easter everyone. I hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Erick also did suggest I take Skyler to a few character meals, but he didn't realize how fast those book up, especially CM & CP, so I told him we could plan on that another trip where we can plan it further in advance. He thought it was crazy that the restaurants book up so fast and you can't walk up to the podium and ask for a table. I think QSDP will be much better though so once he gets antsy to go back on rides or in line for characters, I won't feel so pressured to eat and run.
The good news is we will be back In plenty of time for Erick & I to celebrate our Anniversary together rooting on The Boston Red Sox vs. The Baltimore Orioles when they come to Baltimore a few days after our Anniversary! I guess Skyler & I will be celebrating Mother's Day a week late in Disney! Erick is getting a nice gift from us from the trip, just for still lettig me go to Disney. He does deserve it!
Skyler is still oblivious even when asking him if he wants to go meet Mickey. I will feel so bad for Mickey, Minnie, & Goofy when he calls them FiFi(I hope they mime a laugh or something). Handy Manny will be another story, he will probably search him for his Tools, or ask where his tools are. Skyler has Manny's Tool Box and has to watch Manny with his tool box and obsessivly take them out and put them back in.
Now a few questions, although his clothes are small and he and I can fit into one suitcase, would any of you recommend I pack one 30" rolling duffle for the both of us and pack a bodybag duffle for anything extra(I'm not planning on buying anything ginormous or weighing a ton, but I like to have extra room or suitcase if need be, or pack a larger suitcase for each of us (since his clothes take up no space, we're bringing breakfast items and juice for Skyler since regular juice is too sugary for him, and the kind of sippy cup juice things I'm planning to bring if I lose one oh well, they make refill bottles of the juice in 4oz. Which I would just carry 1-2 extras for him and all the food and juice will be packed in Tupperware type containers to prevent leaks) would go in one case and still have room for extra souvies? Please let meknow which sounds better? I know he and I are at least allowed one free checked bag on Jet Blue, so I won't be going over, and I am limiting us each to one carry on. I don't know which makes more sense and I tend to over pack(more so for him since he can go through quite a few outfits in 1 day and laundry may seem difficult to do with him)?
Now another question since DME is new to me, we are planning to spend at least part of the day our last day in probably AK and we are taking a 7:55pm flight back. How does it work with DME and havig enough time at the airport for security? I know or takes about 90 min on DME and I usually do need 2 hours with Skyler on the safe side for getting through Security and will need a Pull-Up Change before we take off? What time would any of you recommend leaving AK toget back to ASmovies to be able to catch DME to get to the airport with enough time to spare? Any help on this would ease my nerves. Thank you.
On a lighter note, this Dolewhip Virgin will no longer be, as I plan to share with one with Skyler(the little guy loves Pineapples).
On DME, you should get a note on your door the day before you are to leave that gives you your specific DME pick up time. Our pick up time has usually been around 3 hours before our flight.

Thank you so much Cam! Thank you so much for letting me know about DME. Since I've never taken it, I don't know how it works. I do have to say the trip will seem so much more real taking DME to and from Disney. I just love the fact that I don't really need a rental car for this trip or need to lug one of Skyler's 2 car seats with me.
