As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). I am trying to decide between the two. I think we'd really like the theming of 50's PT but we really like the menu at Mama Melrose. We also like the fact that it is part of the Fantasmic! dinner package. So, I have a few questions...
I read the Mama Melrose menu and noticed it is a Price Fix Menu. Does that mean we can't pick from any entree on the menu if we get the Fantasmic! package? We ate at Chefs de France last summer and it was a price fix for the dining plan and I couldn't get what I wanted to order off the menu unless I paid seperately.
Is the Fantasmic! reserved seating worth it? We don't mind that the seats might not be the best; we are just sick of the long wait to get in!! Is there still a long wait to get to these seats? Is it possible they will get full and we can't get to them even if we had the dinner package?
Hmmm... that's interesting about the prix fixe at Chefs de France -- I was under the impression that you *could* order the prix fixe if you were on the DDP, but you didn't *have* to. We just ate there in December and I had the prix fixe, but my dining companions didn't and we were all on the DDP.
As for the Fantasmic dinner package at Mama Melrose's, it is a fixed menu, but I thought there were still several options to choose from.

We ate Mama Rosa's a trip before last. I liked it, my husband wasn't impressed. I don't know about Primetime, we has reservations there last trip and we cancelled for an O'Hona Breakfast. I would eat at Mama's again if I could get preferred seating at Fantasmic. My husband won't though. He just thought the food was "so so".

There is no wait to get the reserved seats when you are on the dinner package. You will receive a voucher that you present to a CM near the gas station at the front of the park, and you'll enter Fantasmic theater from behind the gas station, totally separate from other guests' entrance. It is a big section with plenty of good seats. It will not fill up; you'll definitely be seated with no waiting.

I haven't done the Fantasmic package, so I can't help you there, but as far as the meals go, we much preferred MM. 50's was not bad, it was just kind of boring in our view, regarding the food. Also, we didn't have much of a server, so that could also be why we have a lackluster opinion of 50's. We were impressed with MM's food and ambience, but then, I am a sucker for Italian food.

the Prix Fixe didn't matter for us at Chefs de France last year, or the year before on the DDP, we ordered anything we wanted on the menu. Although, we were on the DxDDP, so I don't know if that matters.
If I had to choose of those two, and neither are my favorites at DHS, I would choose 50's PT, as Mama Melroses is not "true" Italian food. You'll get MUCH better at Tutto ITalia.
Thanks for the responses! My ADR date is coming up on Feb. 16th so I have some time to think about it. But, we may go with MM simply because of the Fantasmic! package. We love that show and always get there very early and spend a lot of time waiting. The thought of not waiting is very appealing. We may spend another 1/2 day at DS so maybe we could do 50s PT for lunch and get both!!!
I'm not a big Mama Melrose fan. I wasn't very impressed with my meal when we went there. However, I love 50's Prime Time; the food is good and the service is fun. You can't get the Fantasmic package at 50's, though.
