As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Except for my first year and a half, I have always lived in Kentucky. I first lived in eastern Kentucky, then mom and dad moved us to the south central (in to the Bluegrass), and when I married Luke, I moved with him to the northwest portion of the state. He started in the south central and moved to the northwest in first grade and as been here ever since.
I was born and raised at the New Jersey Shore. I moved to South Bend, IN during college and loved living in the mid-west. Thought about moving to Chicago with some friends after graduation, but could not find a job so I moved back home. Then moved to Northern New Jersey (East Hanover) for about 1 1/2 years. I moved back home with my parents when I was engaged to save money for a house (DH was living with his parents also for the same reason). After we were married, we spent about 6 months during the winter in a friend's vacant summer house (Bayville). Then we bought our house in my hometown. The funny thing is that I now live in the exact same neighborhood where I lived until I turned 12 and my parents moved us to the other side of town.
DH was born and raised in Princeton, NJ, but spent his summers at the Jersey shore in his family's 2nd home. He loves this area, and it is more affordable than his hometown, so he had no problem moving here. We both love where we live (although we want to move across town closer to my parents....they are 10 minutes away now).
I grew up in a MA suburb, moved to Boston as fast as possible, went to college there. and woke up in Austin TX 11 years ago.
It ended up I was allergic to cold weather..literally so I won't be moving back anytime soon even though I miss my favorite city and decent beaches. Austin is a fantastic place to raise kids so I am happy here.
Born and bred Jersey girl and other than stints in the military, all of my family has stayed here too.
I grew up in the central part of the state but now live near the Jersey Shore.
I like being able to enjoy all 4 seasons but I certainly don't LOVE living here.
My dh is retired and I work for a company that would give me the ability to transfer anywhere in the country.
Finances are the only thing holding us back
I was born in Brisbane, Queensland and after uni moved to Sydney NSW and just recently we moved the whole family 5000km west to Perth, Western Australia. Whilst my parents still live in the same bayside home I grew up in, I have no desire to return permanently as the lifestyle is too laidback and we have business where we are now. Sydney will never be my home again as long as I have a say in the matter - way to crowded, too busy, people too self absorbed and our friends all want to visit us (we live by the beach, life is great!). Out of eight states (and territories) I have lived in three - just five to go!
Dh and I were both born and raised in New Orleans - but the last 15 years, we've been relocated 8 times with his job and are now in South Carolina. I call it our Corporate Relocation See America tour!

My parents both grew up in North Dakota, but Dad joined the National Guard in college -- between the Army and GE they never stayed anywhere long.
When I was one they moved to Cleveland, where they lived for 34 years. It's the only "home" I remember.
DH got a job in CT a year after we were married, so we lived there 5 years before a new job brought us to MN.
I live 1.5 miles from the house I lived in for 23 years, that's when I got married. DW and I have lived within a 10 mile radius of the homes we grew up in.
I love where we live, the people can be a little backwards at times, but the view out of the back of my house is wonderful.
Born in Western NY (Salamanca). Parents got divorced when I was two and we apartmen hopped around Buffalo for a few years. Mom remarried and we settled in Cuba, NY (still western) for about 4 years. I considered that my home. When I was 10 my parents moved to Southern San Diego. Can you say culture shock! We lived there for 3 years than moved to El Centro, CA (the desert right next to AZ). We stayed there 2 years than back to San Diego. I told my parents I wasn't staying! When I graduated from HS I moved to Potsdam, NY for College and my parents followed me as far as Syracuse. Potsdam is about as far north as you can get in NY. Met my DH the first week of school we got married a year later and the following summer he got a job in CT. We moved to the Hartford area for 4 years and apartment hopped around the area. Finally he got a job back in NY. We lived outside of Syracuse for a year then bought a house in Rochester. 8 years ago we built our dream home 30 mins. south of the city in this fabulous little farming town. DH was born and raised not to far from here and his parents are 30 mins. away. My parents have continued to travel with dad's job (immigration) and are now 3 hours south of us in PA. Some winters I dream of warmer climes but than I remember the two awful years in the desert and decide I like the snow. DH's job is in Maryland and he commutes everyweek to the DC area. It is too expensive for us to move there and they pay his commuting costs so we stay here. However, DH is currently waiting to see if his company is going to transfer him to Kansas City then we will have to re-think everything.
I was born and raised in Georgia. When I first moved out, I was about 20 min from the house I grew up in. Then after college I moved to Southern California. That was a huge move! The rest of the family is still in Georgia.
I live about 15 miles from the house I grew up in. I just could never imagine living too far away from my family - especially after I had children of my own.
