Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Jogus, DD and DH hit the parks

Thank you Sandy very much. I am so computer challenged it is not even funny. My two daughters can design web pages, husband works on computers for a living and I well let's say I have broken a mouse or two in frustration

Jogus, DD and DH hit the parks

Chelsea and Pat's Final Trip on AP's
Well this is the third and final trip on our AP's. The first time we went alone and had a blast. The second time we took college DD on her winter break. We went the first week of January and it was cold. I just don't like the idea of wearing mittens and hats in WDW - it should be warm. It was as cold there as it was here in Wisconsin. Now it is DH turn to go to WDW with us. This could be very interesting.

The Itinery - or as DH says " Just go where you want its OK with me"

Well DD says she has some favorite restaurants could we go there please - I say sure. Ask DH and he says "Anywhere is OK with me, but I would like to go to Biergarten (loves brats too much) - I say sure. I have my favorites too, but I am making PS's so my choices are a lock - I think DD are the real lock as it turns out

The Plan

We arrive on Saturday the 31st of August. DD is missing 4 days of school. She says she will be ready for vacation after 2 weeks of school. She is starting HS this year. I know there are some that say "Do not take child out of school". I also took older DD out of school, when she went, and she was #13 in class of 170 and younger DD has always been on the honnor roll, so I am not real concerned. Family fun time is just as important as school. OPPS! I just fell off my soapbox.

Saturday
I and DD will go to EPCOT after check in (we get in about 3:00 so DH will not use pass for such a short touring time) We will tour EPCOT until dinner at Garden Grill - DD choice. We may stay for Illuminations. Then back to check out AKL.
Sunday
All up for breakfast at Mara and off to the MK. We have usually found that Sunday mornings are quiet in MK, but this beng a holiday weekend who knows. Tour Mk until PS at Tony's Town Square - DD choice also. Then back to AKL for some swimming. This is the one thing I missed about Jan. trip. I will not swim when the air is 40 no matter how warm the water is.
Monday
We will do Studios if the weather is an OK for Fantasmic - if it is running, or we will do AK if the weather seems kind of questionable. We have PS at Boma for dinner - my choice. (If there is Fantasmic we will drop Boma PS's and do Fantasmic Dinner Pkg.) DD liked the food at Boma, but she had a headache when we were there and didn't really enjoy herself. She does however remember Zebra cakes - typical female with chocolate. If we do Fantasmic I think we will eat at Hollywood and Vine - my choice. Not real big fan of the other pkg. restaurants.
Tuesday
We are meeting Chantal at breakfast at Boma. It was not planned by design, but it just worked out. It will be great puting a face to the name as always. Today has 3 choices - Did I forget to say I was a compulsive planner. 1) is Studios if did not go there and do Fantasmic 2) do AK and try to snag a PS at Boma and 3) Do Ak and if there is an E night have dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern - a whole family favorite.
Wednesday
We have a PS for Boma for breakfast and a PS for Biergarten for dinner - DH choice. What we do in the middle is maybe AK for half of day and Epcot for half of day. We might even do Epcot the whole day. Really depends on the weather and what we have already done.
Thursday
Breakfast will be at Mara today since today I have tried to fit in a trip to Typhoon Lagoon. I wish DD had told me, but in Sept she did that Humunga slide. This time I shall be prepared with the camera. I prefer the lazy water ride and the wave pool, but I do go on the family tube rides. If the weather is not great we will do Epcot. In any case we have a PS for the Clam Bake at the Beach Club - another DD must do.
Friday
Another try for TL if not done yesterday, otherwise we are off to Epcot. We have PS for Le Cellier for dinner. DH made the recipe for the cheese soup he found on line somewhere. It was really good, but quite the same
Saturday
Our last full day. We have PS at Boma for breakfast and Teppanyaki for dinner. So we will just go where we have not been or where we want to go again.
Sunday
DH gets to stay behind again as DD and I do our ritual last day - Sunday morning MK tour. This will be extra sad cause DH says next year no WDW it is VEGAS here we come. DD and I think we can sneak a trip in somewhere though

Now with all these great plans there is one variable that I call my "There is the bus to ---park, let's forget about all the planning and just wing it". Which seems to end up being the plan used most often. I say though, the planning is almost as fun as the trip itself - almost

So fellow Passporters this is my itinery - Now all I have to do is remember to take notes during the trip and write my report when I get back. It is always interesting to see how the itinery and the trip actually match up.
