As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

The Bozrah Report – Day four: Chocolate muffins MMM & Oh what a fantasmic evening!
Dates: October 20th through October 26th.
Adventurers: Me: Ted (33),
DW: Robin (26),
Mom, (57)
And Grandma (82)
Resort: Disney's Old Key West Vacation Club Resort
Today’s plans are CRT for breakfast and to have dinner at the Brown Derby and Fantasmic. Mickey woke us at 7:00 this morning, we are eager to get going for our 8:40 Ps at CRT. We leave and make it to TTC for 8:00, the Monorails are a little slow so we didn’t make it over to the kingdom until 8:20, this put us a little behind schedule so I ran ahead and made sure they knew we were coming. I let the CM’s know that the rest of the crew was behind me, No problem just let them know when we are all together . The rest of the party showed up about 8:45 and they said they would seat us shortly. We go in to the waiting area and are greeted by Alice, and shortly after are called upstairs. This is our first time at this restaurant, I didn’t know that is was this small. What a nice place. The cast of characters greeting guests were Mary Poppins, Snow White, Cinderella and Prince Charming. We started with our muffins. I grabbed a chocolate one not knowing what it was. Boy was I lucky, this was the bestest muffin I ever had. Shortly later our meals arrived and we dug right in. The Cream cheese toast was great and the creamy potatoes were… lets just say we asked for seconds. We took time out from our meals to have quick shots with each of the characters. I had my picture taken with Mary Poppins and Snow White . Dw, Mom and Gram with Prince Charming and Cinderella . Robin and I decided we would definitely do this again on our next trip.
We finished our meals and headed off for to tour the world for a bit. We hit The Lion King, Peter Pan, Winnie The Pooh, IASW, the Haunted Mansion, POC and The Jungle Cruise. There were only short lines at almost all of the rides. We left the MK at about 1:30 and headed over to MGM for the afternoon.
We arrived at MGM at about 2:15 and headed in to the park. We split up and sent Mom and Gram off for the Backlot tour while we decided to take one more shot at WWTBAMPI. We arrived just in time to get a seat. It was a very full theatre this time. In fact we were in the one of the back rows. I had already decided that I wasn’t going to be able to make it to the Hot Seat, due to the amount to people. ‘Regis’ came out to start the game with a fastest finger. This surprised me. They must have just run out of time in the last show after someone finished. The question was to put holidays in order from first to last starting in Jan. I answered and knew I was right. Regis showed the top ten 10-2 and nope, I must have been too slow, but wait… there’s my number 1.3 seconds, I made to the Hot Seat. This is soo :cool. Ok ok ok on my way down I’m thinking at least answer one question right. I get situated and Regis starts firing questions at me, I quickly make it up the ladder to 1,000. At 2,000 I ask the audience on a question I know but am not 100 percent positive. Then comes the failure. The question is what are the Headboard, frame and footboard of a bead called. I had it narrowed down to cradle and bedstead, wasn’t sure and guessed cradle. DOH! . Oh well I get a hat and a lanyard anyway. And I have the satisfaction that I actually answered the fastest finger faster than a full audience. I will have to take a shot when we go back in January. I made it back to my seat and watched the next player finish out his turn. Game time expired. On our way out about 20 people congratulated me and asked to see what I won. This mad me feel better about blowing an easy question. Trust me bedstead is now burned into my little pea brain.
We then walked out and headed to where the old backstage tour was. Sorcerer Mickey was there taking pictures with the fans, so DW and I jumped in line and got our picture taken. We will pick this up before we leave on Friday.
We catch up with Mom and Gram and head over to Muppets 3-D. We get right in and again there is all kinds of room in the theatre. In fact the CM’s are only having people move ¾ of the way across the theatre.
We have 4:40 PS at The Brown Derby, so we head over there next. We arrive at about 4:25 and drop our name in. They seat us at about 4:35. All of us have salads for starters. I have the Cobb Salad, which is my favorite meal at all of the parks. The meals are great, and then it’s time for dessert. I have the special 100yom cheesecake. It has a white chocolate Sorcerers Hat, YUUUMMMMMM!!!.
We do some window-shopping for a bit and head over to Fantasmic. We get great seats. The show is great and goes off without a hitch. We head back to our resort for a nice relaxing evening.
Coming up: The Bozrah Report – Day five: snacking around the world at the Food fest.
Sorry it’s taken me so long to post these reports. It’s just taken me a while to get all my thoughts together . I should finish up the rest of the posts by the end of the week. J
