Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Disneyknut Does Disney Day 5-Our final day" I want to make it last forever"

Cast: The Smith Family, All Disney Fanatics & proud of it!
Myself, Ann, 39 & the self-proclaimed chicken of the group
DH, Jim, 32 ( yes, I robbed the cradle) Lover of everything Disney & nagger of above said chicken
Ds, Jamie, 9 - The Rock n Roller coaster king
DS, Brendan, 7.. kinda daring will try just about any ride
DD, Shelby, 3-3/4, now known as "the screamer" hates ALL rides except Tea Cups.

Our Final Day- " I want to make it last forever"
Our final day started with Mickeys wake up call but this time it just didn't seem as cheery ( or maybe it was OUR mood!)
We packed up all of our suitcases & put them in our car. Our plan was to visit all of the parks & go on our favorite rides one last time.
We opted to skip breakfast & just eat wherever we were at when we got hungry..
Decided to go to MGM.. Jim & Jamie rode their favorite ride~ RnR 3 more times ( making Jamie the RnR king!! ) While I was waiting for them in the gift shop I struck up a conversation with a CM who was a real sweetie.. she gave Bren & Shelby coloring pages to color while we waited ( to which Shelby promptly layed on the floor to color) I told her that I was afraid to ride & her advice was to simply close my eyes & I wouldn't know I was going upside down.. she still didn't convince me as *she* had never ridden it. Jamie bought himself a RnR shirt.
After RnR I wanted to go back for one more shot at Millionaire.. This was a GREAT show.. the lady who was in the hot seat was a teacher & luckily for her a lot of the questions had to do with music ( which she taught) she was so funny, she would answer the question before the 2nd generation Regis got to say all of the multiple choice answers. She had 3 questions to go to win it all when the buzzer went off.. they invited her back for the next show to finish.. no one else but me wanted to stick around to see how she did so now I'm left wondering..... So, if anyone knows if Betty won on the second millionaire show of the day 10/26 please tell me
After MGM we hopped over to MK.. Upon entering MK we had our picture taken by the CM ( another tradition, at least 1 picture from the CM's AND we MUST buy all of the attraction photos!$$$$$$$$$)
There was a 45 minute stand by wait for Space Mountain so Jim, Jamie & Brendan got Fast passes & we went to get an Alien Encounter shirt for Jamie.. ( Our family is T-shirt nuts & must buy several on every vacation, anywhere!). We also went into the store by Space Mountain & got Brendan a Space Mountain T-shirt. After browsing the shops a little it was time for their FP so off they went & Shelby & I headed to *her* favorite ride~ Teacups ( the guys opted out of this ride~ we planned to meet in Toontown).. I took several cute pictures of Shelby on the teacups. After our Mom/daughter ride we headed over to teacups to meet the guys.. Jamie wanted to go on Barnstormer & Shelby immediately started to scream she didn't want to.. Well, I also was kinda scared ( I know BIG WIMP!!!!) so just the boys went on the ride & I went shopping.. I got both boys really nice navy WDW polo shirts . We have a dress code at our school of blue, white or gold polo shirts & blue or tan pants so this would be perfect for the boys to wear their first day back at school.
After their ride we toured Minnie & Mickeys house but the kids chose not to go to get the character autographs.
By this time it was 2:00pm & we were all hungry. Now, I have always wanted to try one of those huge turkey legs at WDW but never thought I'd like it.. one of my 'must-do's' this trip was to try one.. Jim & the kids headed to Pecos Bills ( another of our WDW traditions) & I would meet them there with my turkey leg.. I was pleasantly surprised to see the 'turkey' leg was actually HAM!!! I did enjoy it & even shared! ( I would have liked some ranch dressing to dip it in) We knew we were in a prime location for the parade so we decided to hang around Pecos Bills & watch the parade from there. After the parade we knew that it was time to go.. our flight was at 7:30 & we didn't want to cut it close with the bus ride back to PO & the drive to the airport.. We thought the best way to leave the park after the parade crowds would be to hop the train in Frontierland. Well, as soon as Shelby saw us walking down the ramp toward Splash Mountain she started to scream & thought we were going on there.. We tried to reassure her but to no avail.. she kept screaming even as we boarded ther train (attracting a lot of quizzical stares from the other passengers) She kept saying " I don't want to ride the Big railroad" finally Jim realized that she thought we were going back on BTMR.. when he told her it was different & it was very slow she calmed down once the ride started. On the train ride I got very sad knowing this was the last ride for our trip. Got back to PO & packed up my shopping 'stuff' in the suitcases in the car & headed toward the airport.. As soon as we got in the car I looked at Brendan & he had tears streaming down his face.. I asked what was wrong & he said he didn't want to leave , which of course made me cry too.. I assured him that we WOULD be back & we all yelled our traditional " See ya soon" as we exited Disney property.
The ride to the airport was uneventful & very smooth, as was dropping off our rental car.. Check in had a line & it took about 1/2 hr to get through.. We still were in the airport by 5:30... When we were on the way to the security check point Jim remarked that he was worried the talking Eeyore he bought would set the metal detectors off ( It was a talking stuffed Eeyore that is too cute says " Oops, I lost my tail..again", "Nice Day...probably rain" & other cute sayings) we stood in line laughing thinking that as soon as Eeyore went through the scanner it would say "Thanks for noticing me" .. It didn't do anything but it was a funny thought.
We had a lot of time to kill in the airport & did a little shop browsing ( yes, I'll admit it, I'm a shopaholic).. We also grabbed a snack. ( I didn't realize the limited food options once you went through the security check point)
Upon boarding our plane the Captain gave us the 'good' news ( as he put it) It was 30 degrees & snowing back in Pittsburgh!! We all voted to get off the plane right then & there & STAY!! Jim had worn a tank top & shorts to the airport & forgot to pack pants & a jacket so he garnered a lot of strange looks from the other passengers.. Shelby promptly fell asleep again as soon as the plane took off. Flight was a bumpy one as we hit quite a bit of turbulence in South Carolina.. Got into Pittsburgh around 9:30 & shelby woke up ( again) as the plane was landing. When that cold blast of air hit us as we walked down the tunnel we all REALLY wanted to go back where we came from!!
Got our luggage & headed to the parking shuttle.. Jim by this point was freezing so as soon as we got off the bus & to our van he put on long pants & a jacket.
We decided we didn't want to go home just yet so we headed to Dennys ( we hadn't eaten anything except for the bag of trail miz on the plane since around 3:30)
Got home around 1:00am Everyone was kinda cranky so we headed straight to bed..
So, there you have it.. our trip...
In my next report I will write final thoughts on my trip & add some of my passporter notes...
