Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

The Disney Princess and Family\'s Most Magical Trip Ever ... Day 3
Can you believe that we actuall were able to get everyone up and ready and be out at the busses by 8:30 a.m. today?!! I certainly thought I was still "dreaming!" But that dream was a reality and we were at MGM at 8:50 actually having to "wait" for the park to officially open!
Mom and Dad had been off buying sunglasses for my mom who had forgotten hers at home .... oh yes .. it was SUNNY! Gordon was GOOONNNNNEEEE -- what a beautiful day it was today!!!!!!
Meanwhile, Bob had the two kids in the stroller and was going to "meet" us at the Tower of Terror and Missy and I were going to RUN and get "fastpass" for Rockin Roller Coaster and then we would just go get in the standby line for Tower of Terror ... a MUST RIDE FIRST for us!!!
That 10 minutes seemed like an eternity but finally they DROPPED THE ROPES and everyone went walking very hurriedly towards RnR and ToT! However Missy and I opted to take the "high" rode (the sidewalk instead of the street) and "bypass" everyone leisurely walking ... and then when we reached the restaurant area (across from Beauty and the Beast) we sort of "cut" through there and were VERY surprised to hear a CM saying to us .... "NO NO NO let "those" people go in front of you!" ... Hmmm I didn't know that they could "stipulate" that ...after all unlike that particular hoard of people heading for RnR .. we were mererly going to just get "fastpass" for it anyway so what difference did it make .. but NEVERTHELESS we happily complied!!!!!!! It's nice to see they are looking out for the fellow guests!!!!
We got our fastpasses and then headed towards ToT. Now here is my take on the ToT .... I absolutely LOVE the ride .. have rode it dozens of times .. HOWEVER there is NOTHING that prepares you for your "first" ride after it's been so long ... the drop, oh wait ... the DROPS ... OH MY ... my stomach can't take it !!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhh! What an incredible ride they've come up with .. I love the WHOLE thing about it .. the story in the library ... the animation during the ride .. and oh yes .... THE DROPS!
We survived of course ... and what a THRILL it was! Couldn't get my parents on that one ... just Bob, Missy, me and actually Bob got Zachary to ride it! (((Of course his first and last time!))) He had JUST BARELY passed for the 40 inch mark (thanks to his Sketcher gym shoes) -- and although I protested to Bob that this ride was "too intense" for him .... he did what he normally does and that is .... "not" listen to me!!! But Zach survived (((thank goodness!!!))) however he was very prompt in telling his daddy ... "I will NOT ride that again Dad!"
Then it was time for RnR .... we were so excited as this was a brand new ride for us ... and get this even my dad wanted to ride it! WHAT??!! The man who "hates" roller coasters??!! He was absolutely INTRIGUED at how the thing "takes" off when you can watch it while in line (((Zero to 60 in like 2.8 seconds))) and when the ride was over he just LOVED it! He then persuaded my mom to ride ((((who NEVER rides roller coasters!))) and of course even in the dark .. she kept her eyes closed the whole time ... and was "very shocked" to find out after it was over that indeed it went upside down not once ... but three times! She said.... "WHAT? I didnt' even know it went upside down!" LOL
We then did the Great Movie Ride which is always nice, and then met a "few" characters along the way over to the 50's Primetime for our PS for lunch. That's a really cool place! We all enjoyed ourselves! I had the "meatloaf" because I'm a great meatloaf fan and I had heard (((from the boards of course))) that's it's GREAT! I however didn't think it was "that" spectacular but nevertheless I enjoyed my meal !!! Zachary really had a great time playing along with "Aunt Terri" and the fact that all our "cousins" were eating with us too!!! In fact, my dad even jumped in on the humor stating to the newly arriving cousins that we were all "kissin' cousins" today!!!
After lunch we headed over to Star Tours and unfortunately had to do the ol' baby swap thing so couldn't ride it all together ... but still what a great ride!!! Or should I say .... "simulated" ride!
The Muppets was next and would you believe that even Gavin (he was just one in August) kept his glasses on the entire show and even "jumped" and "laughed" at everything! What a great show!
The little Mermaid was next ... and that show always just about brings me to tears! It has to be one of the most beautiful shows at MGM .. next to Beauty and the Beast!!!
Didn't do "bear in the big blue house" as Zachary isn't a fan of that show .. yet ....
Then off to "pizza planet" to play for a while while mom and I did some "shopping" in the stores .......
Before you knew it -- it was time for Beauty and the Beast and although it was getting "sweltering" hot in there ... we had our misty fans ready and full of water and what a relief they were! The show was as usual -- INCREDIBLE!!!
After B&B -- it was one more time on RnR and ToT and then we were pretty much POOPED! The kids were doing WONDERFUL! Couldn't ask for more! Of course they were fussy sometimes .. but hey that's kids right??!!
I desperately wanted to see Fantasmic ... however my dad said that after what happened at the MK that first night with the busses he was NOT staying at ANY park until closing! And with my baby Gavin still nursing .. it would be really tough to leave him for more than a couple of hours so Fantasmic would unfortunately "not" be part of our trip this time .... -- But that gives us more reason to go back right??!!!
That night we were REALLY exhausted! We grabbed a quick dinner in the food court and headed back to the room! My sister and I actually went for a "night" swim and that was fun! We even headed over to the "quiet" pool of the Mighty Ducks and that was nice!!! We both were saying that we just couldn't believe that we were finally here and what fun it all was!!!!! But to her ... just as long as she wasn't in school that was fun for her!!! LOL
Off to beddy-bye .. tomorrow is the Magic Kindgom and breakfast with Winnie at the Crystal Palace!!! Gooood Niiigghhht!!!
