Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

WDW is the place my family can relax and be taken care of and made to feel like we are the most important people that are there that day. You know what I mean? That you are made to feel welcome and you almost can never have a bad day at WDW. You feel like a kid and you watch the joy in your kids eyes seeing the castle for the first time or seeing it again after being gone for a while. Sitting back and people watch seeing them see the castle for the first time.

My DH until lately has worked 7 days a week for years. With the econom he has been cut back to six. Believe me i'm not complaining becasue he still has a job after many cut backs. anywho.....I fell in love with Disney when we stayed on site and had the ddp for the first time in 06. It's where we go to get his undivided attention. The whole vacation is about the family and being together, without the outside world bothering us. we don't worry or talk about things other than which ride to go to next. We don't mind standing in line or waiting for things becasue we are doing it together. Its wonderful!!!

We have traveled all over the states along with overseas and Disney is the only place we come together as a family. When we pass the entrance it is like a safe haven our little Shangri-La. The only time I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders again is when we enter the bus heading back to the airport.

I know how you feel. I've been having such Disney Withdraw since my last trip in 2000, and have wanted to go back so many times since then. I used to go all the time as a child being a blessed Florida Resident and when I haven't been there I miss it. I used to think Florida was a place to visit not live, now as I don't live there, it's still home to me and Disney has become my absolute favorite place in the world besides Washington, DC. Even as many trips as I took to Disney whenever I walk through the Enterance and on Disney Grounds I'm in awe. Nothing wrong with loving Disney so much. It's the best Theme Park Resort on the Planet. Nothing comes close for me (even Universal Studios doesn't come close, neither do Sesame Place, Six Flags or Hershey Park).

Since my first trip when I was 5/6 like Danielle's Son Andrew, I wanted my Bat Mitzvah at Disney (dad wasn't for that idea) or even just go there than a big party, wanted to go there for my Sweet 16 (dad wasn't for that either), wanted to go for my Confirmation (nope, Dad wanted to go to Miami), wanted to go for my High School Graduation (nope dad chose other forms to celebrate), even my Wedding at Disney (Dad would spend a million bucks on sister and Brother in law's Wedding in Massachusetts, not a penny to my Hubby's and my wedding and defanitely said if we had a Wedding in Disney he wouldn't be there and I shared so many happy memories with my dad at Disney just from the first trip at 5/6 when he and my mom 1st took my sister and I).

I've always wanted to share a Disney Experience with each of my grandparents (sadly never got to with my grandfathers before they passed away), but shared one with one Grandmother and she even loved it. Now I can't wait to experience my DH, DS, & my first trip as a family to Disney. I can't wait to see the expressions on my DS's face when he first gets to see Mickey, or the Castle. Honestly to me, Disney is better than any sit down dinner for a formal occasion or a need for a party. Let me be at Disney and I'm in my glory.

It is all Grumpy's fault and he knows it. I grew up dreaming of going there every Sunday evening when I watched Wonderful World of Disney, but knowing that my parents could never afford it (with 6 kids and my father in the Army it was kind of hard). But when I got married to my ever wonderful Grumpy, he surprised me with our Honeymoon at WDW, The Disney Inn, so that is why I have such a for Shades of Green. Grumpy feels the same way about WDW and he has been going since it opened!!!

Okay lets all go I will meet you at the flagpole in the MK!!!

I think my DH even though his parents would take him with his brother and sister on a few trips to Disney, and I've been there more than my fare share, still doesn't see my obsession. I forgot to add this in my other post, Disney for me also brings back the most happy childhood memories for me before my parents long separation and ugly divorce. Disney is my place to forget about any negative thing and just enjoy all the happiness it fills my heart. Maybe all the Grumpies out there just need a little of Disney Magic to uplift their souls and find their happiness again.

I am so with you. A friend of mine will be in Orlando soon for a week. She is only going to MK for a day. Because they have been to Disney recently as in within the last two years.

They always stay off site and run from ride to ride. Never slow down and see the details. She does not understand why I have a collection of photos that are not of the rides, but of the little things. Like dragon by the lake in AK or a Rose in January in Epcot.

Disney is my happy place. I can be a kid again, and not worry about the real world. My last trip was very sad as my Dad had a heartattack on the first day, and I was distracted for the other ten days. I want a trip back so bad, but we cannot even plan it right now.

Even if it was two years away I could plan it, dream it... I have a free rt plane ticket, and DVC. I just need park tickets........
