As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Hello Friends! I am thinking about Hilton Head for our next vacation.
My girls have never been to the beach and I think they would love it.
My vacation is at the end of July. Yes, I am sure it will be busy. But, what's a girl to do?
Would love any tips on where to stay like what part of the island, etc.
I would like to get a condo or rental home for the week. Any ideas there would be great too!
Actually just give me any and all information you would like to share!

We stayed at Disney's Hilton Head Resort last year and absolutely loved it! Their beach house was our favorite. They have a pool there and at the resort.

If the Disney Resort is not an option for you, I like the Sea Pines area. It is on the far end of the island but has tons of great shopping, restaurants, etc. The Disney Resort is mid-island on the opposite side from the beach but there is a bike path or a shuttle to take you across. Hilton Head has a wonderful beach - plenty of room to dig and play and set up umbrellas. Definitely rent bikes to tour around the area, consider doing a dolphin tour and if you have time, check out Savannah, GA which is about 45 minutes away. Beaufort, SC where they filmed Forest Gump is also about 45 minutes away.
We'll be there in March and probably again next December visiting my parents who live there. It is a great place to vacation!
I stayed in Shipyard Plantation at the Brigantine Quarters. Not oceanfront, but it's a quick 5 minute walk to the beach. it's also a quick bike ride to Coligny Circle (5-7 minutes once you get throught the gate (shortcut). We rented out place through VRBO.com. It's a small resort and very quiet.
We rented bikes from AAA Flying Tigers. If you book ahead of time, you get a discount. They will drop them off for you and pick them up when you're through. If memory serves, we paid 20 bucks each inc tax for the week.
Be sure to try Rita's Ice at Coligny Circle if you have never been to one. Yummy!!!

I checked out the disney resort and that is just a little too much for my wallet right now. But it looks absolutely beautiful!

We stayed at DVC HH in 2005 and had a very relaxing vacation. There really isn't a whole of of things to "do" in Hilton Head for the little ones (Amusements, etc), but if they ride bikes and love the beach it's a fantastic place.
We have stayed in Hilton Head for 3 years, this being our 4th. Always in late February. We have a time share with Interval so nightly rates were not a problem. We stayed at Disney's and love it. We, however, did not like having to drive to the ocean. The other years we stayed at Marriotts Grand Ocean, Surfwatch and this year Barony Beach. Stay ocean front if you can! It is so much better, especially in the summer and especially with the little ones. Bikes are a definite. It is only $25/week thru the resorts. Like someone else said, there is no amusement parks or such, but dolphin tours are great. There is a park that offers childrens concert during the summer. And fireworks after. Sea Pines is a nice area, although congested. There is limited things to do in Harbor Town for kids. Shelter Cove is nice, but not on the beach. The island itself is beautiful, clean and well manicured. You will love it!

That's what Brigntine Quarters is. Some of the units are 2-story townhouses, and some are condos (some upstairs and some downstairs). We stayed in the upstairs 2 BR condo (unit was either 280 or 282 in case you look at the map on the Brigantine's website in my earlier message).
The kitchen and bathroooms had just been redone right before we got there, and they were still working on some other units (no contruction noise, though).
Only complaint I had was the bathtub in the second bath. It was so low to the ground! OK for kids, but I would have had a hard time getting out ( stuck w/ taking a shower). The master bath had a fancy tub and separate shower.

Look for something in Shipyard Plantation. It is a smaller plantation and runs along the beach. So even if you don't get something on the beach, it will be an easy bikeride to get there from your unit. Also, Shipyard is close to a lot of shopping and dining and very central.
