As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

This afternoon Pat had to take Blue, our beloved Black Lab to the vet, and he had to be put to sleep.
His breathing had gotten worse in the past two months, after a diagnosis last year of trachial collapse. Upon x-raying him, they found a large tumor on his spleen, liver and now lungs.
He turned 10 in July, and has been showing signs of aging. He loved his Saturday ride in the pick up truck to get two hot dogs at the 7-11 with Pat.
I haven't told the girls yet, and I am not looking forward to that at all tomorrow afternoon. I didn't want them to go to school all upset.
I'd tell them soon - they'll be angry that YOU decided when they could grieve.
I'm always amazed at how my kids handle death - they grieve, but they seem to cope better than I do.
Pixies for you all - and I'm sorry Blue passed. Sounds like he had a wonderful life, and loving family. I mean, DH says he loves me, but I don't get to go to 7-11 EVER!
I'm so sorry....our pets are part of our family as well and I know how tough it is when something like that happens. In May, my horse had to be put down after birthing complications, I held off on telling my mom until the next day (she had an incredibly important meeting in the morning and I didn't want her to be a nervous wreck) - for us, waiting was the best answer. I think it's better to grieve when you have the time to grieve properly. Sometimes you don't have control over that decision, and sometimes you do. I would wait until tomorrow to inform you DD's as well - that way they can be upset and recoup a bit over the weekend. Labs are the most wonderful dogs....I've been wanting one for five years now.....they optimize the motto "man's best friend". Best of luck with everything.....

Since Minnie's chair is gone, I had to find a new place to have our photo taken this past Oct. Not sure this will be the permanent place.

My grand-daughter had a cat she loved and it died of T.B. when my grand-daughter was about 3. She draged the cat, pulled it's tail and a million other things a cat would not stand for. The cat was faithful to her and loved her. The cat knew that as soon as she (the cat) was thrown over her shoulder that the play time was over, until next time. The cat never moved, took all punishment and never scratched her.
Because the T.B. was to advanced we had to have the cat put asleep. Because of her age we only had to tell her that her cat had gone to cat heven.
When our beagle came down with cascading health problems (clearing one thing up revealed another, etc), we decided to put him down. DH was out of town and I asked my sis to watch the kids while I took him to the vet. I wanted the kids to say goodbye, but didn't want them to freak out about the fact that I was taking him there to be put down. So, I lied and told them that he was very very sick (no lie). So sick that I wasn't sure if he would be coming back with me.
This way, they got to say goodbye, but still don't know (they're young) that there's actually a choice you can make to end your pet's life rather than it being natural causes.
