Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm​. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

OK ladies, I need to know what works for you...

PMS. Always had it, always belittled by my mother for it (it wasn't "real" it was only "in your head", "get over it"). Beside my already astronomical stress levels, as I'm aging and chemistry is changing, it's getting worse. Can't go on the pill as it does a major whack-job to my system and the doc said NO MORE. The worst for me is the emotional stuff. I need Grumpy or Donald Duck shirts for every day of the week. I also get a low-grade headache that doesn't ease up.

Do you have a tried and true remedy?

I don't, but if you feel comfortable with your doctor I'd go that route, especially if you're experiencing it that often. Everyone is so different. And not to say this is happening to you, just to show that everyone's different, my DStepsister actually went through menopause in her late 20's! They couldn't figure out why she couldn't have kids, and then realized that was what was happening!

No, but I needed one the last few days. I was mad at everyone, felt fat and ate everything in the house. I get a bad headache too, that last 2-3 days. Luckly it was over this morning.

A friend here on the boards recommeneded Yaz to me. It is birth control, but it's a steady dose of hormone throughout the month instead of different doses of hormone every 5 - 7 days. I could not take bc for the longest time because of what it did to me. Yaz fixed my cycles, turned the PMS way, way down to manageable (and cut my vicious 2 week PMS cycle down to just three days), it's decreased my cravings and appetite, and, somehow, it helped curb my smoking habit when I decided to quit.

Before I started taking it, my hormones were out of control, I had 6 week cycles, 2 - 3 weeks of PMS every 5 - 6 weeks, I was aggressive towards my poor DH, impatient with my son, angry, and even though I knew I was being unreasonable, I flew off the handle at EVERYTHING. I think if he could, my DH would give the person who recommended Yaz to me a great big, sloppy kiss.

My doctor has also recommended Yaz to me. I think I'm finally going to go back and get another prescription (I never filled the first prescripton)---- I suffer terribly from PMS. Joe jokes that they're going to start locking me away in the attic for a few days every month.

I, too, suffer from PMS, although my worst symptoms are severe muscle cramps. I mean SEVERE. I can't take hormonal birth control either - due to family medical history (my sister suffered blood clots three years ago, when she was 24, as a side effect from BC), I can't be on any hormonal medication - so no Pill, no Yaz, no ring, no patch, no shot! I even had my genes tested to see if I shared the same Factor-5 gene that she has which ups your chance for blood clots and yep, I do. As a random side note, I'd recommend anyone to have this done - if you have that gene, your chances of having that side effect of BC is x100, and after seeing what she went through, I never, ever want to take that risk! In fact, if I decide to have children, I have to go on blood-thinners, as pregnancy also ups the chance - so I'm glad I know that so if I have kids, my doctor can treat me accordingly.

Anyway! I find Midol works the best for me, and my doctor gave me a prescription strength version of it. The only issue is it's loaded with caffeine, so I have at least one sleepless night, usually (the OTC version is, too). Heating pads also help.

Sometimes I have emotional symptoms - bursting into tears when I couldn't get my ponytail "right" comes to mind - but not often. I recommend alcohol. Kidding. Some caffiene usually helps my mood - a Diet Coke will generally do the trick (and removing myself from any stressful ponytail-situations).

All kidding aside, like Scarlett mentioned, I've found the best thing is to remove myself from as much stress as possible and to just acknowledge that at this time I need to be kind to myself first and foremost.

Avoiding salt for a week before helps. Drinking lot of herbal teas (you can find PMS teas in your grocery aisles now) also helps.

I have issues with taking HRT (blood clots are not your friends). My wonderful doctor suggests using a cream called Progest. Only that one since he says that this is real clinical studies to prove that it works. You find it in health food stores. I think half the town uses it and all the women swear by it. It made a huge difference in my life.
