What are your 4th of July holiday weekend plans? - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Laundry today...cleaning tomorrow, after church. Monday is last minute running here and there and Tuesday morning we board our plane, heading to Orlando, via NYC!
Yesterday we spent the afternoon with Luke's family, a tradition for quite a few years. We ate lots of very good food. I grilled burgers. And then just sat and caught up on each other's lives. Later Stefanie wanted Fazolis for supper and then I managed to scrapbook 6 pages before sitting down to watch a movie with Luke (The Mothman Prophecies). Then it was to bed and back to the Twilight Zone marathon.
Today, when everyone else besides me gets up, we'll have pancakes and then go to the church to work out. Maybe the pool for a few hours or fix up the pots on the front porch. I'm on Praise Team this weekend so I'll be at church this evening and then again for 3 services tomorrow. We'll be watching NASCAR this evening. Maybe the pool tomorrow afternoon again or who knows.
Hey Cam22...DH, Tom is from Madisonville! I've been on the boards for how many months now and JUST noticd you are in Owensboro! We visit Madisonville all the time and went to the Nut Festival in Evansville a few years ago while we were on leave...also did the 4th in Evansville one year! Great fireworks!
My DD is out of town with her boyfriend and his family this weekend, so I pretty much am doing nothing. I did some yardwork this morning, and I am going to IKEA this afternoon. I will probably visit my aunt later on, possibly take her out to lunch. Catch up on some sleep, and wait for my baby to get home!!!

Yesterday we mowed the yard. (dh did most of it) We also puppy sat! That was fun.
Today, the puppy got picked up this morning, so we went out to breakfast. Dh is cleaning the pool and this afternoon.......... We are putting the FOR SALE sign up in our yard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, this afternoon I will be working on a flyer to put out with the for sale sign that gives info on the house.
Tonight we are going to go see WALL E - we were supposed to do that a couple of nights ago and never got there!
Tomorrow is church, and then we are having some friends over for a cook-out.
We have a festival in town called wild west fest, so have been to that the past few nights. Thurs Night Ranger played, last night Phil Stacey(American Idol) and an amazing fireworks show. We had a BBQ with my entire family, and the best part was making ice cream floats. We had a water ballooon fight and ran through the sprinkler. This am was a parade that me and ddx2 were in for girl scouts. Tinight DD is doing the flag ceremony before the concert which is country singer Joe Nichols(Tequila makes her clothes fall off). I am Bnot a big country fan, but will go since DD has to be there. It has been busy and fun though. Most of family left this am, so it ais calmer.
Work. Finance & Accounting paper. School for DDs. Still catching up laundry from our trip and trying to sort out the disaster that is my living room/office, but I'm not making much headway...I HATE dealing with it!

OK, you asked....
Well, we had a big cook out including ribs, fried chicken and hot dogs. We had one of my brothers and many friends over to the house and were planning to go to my in-laws farm for fireworks, when we had some of our own, with lightening that zapped the house and took out a GFCI, but oddly some equipment that was not grounded -- the cable modem, routers etc., but worst of all, the Wii! Oh, the agony! I had to call the fire department to come check the house and found the hot GFCI with the thermal camera and some other stuff, but no fire, it seems! We love to see the guys, but not like that! Today is cleaning up, fixing things as much as possible. Phone is not working, either. Tomorrow is teaching sunday school, worship, and going to the veteran's home to conduct a worship service there.

EJ, sorry about the lightening strike, can be such a pain trying to figure out what was affected and what wasn't. It was months for us, finding things not working. Glad it wasn't worse and everyone is okay.
Our plans ~ yesterday was work in the house, unpacking things, laundry, moving furniture, cleaning. Cooked burgers on the grill after the rain stopped. Went to the little town north of us to watch fireworks. Took yougest DSs friend, never again! Had to tell him to quit saying "B - O- R - I - N - G" after every firework that went off. Thought oldest DS was going to clobber him! My DM went with us. Oh, and I watched the Twilight Zone Marathon every chance I got, DVR'd alot of them! I love Twilight Zone! "How To Serve Man" is my favorite! I remember seeing that as a child, scared me so bad I nearly peed my pants!
Today ~ more cleaning and laundry, had the phone company out to repair 2 jacks and find a short in the main line, yard work, cook chicken on the grill, prepare my SS lesson for tomorrow and we will go watch the fireworks in our town tonight out at the fairgrounds.
Tomorrow ~ SS & worship service at church, finish laundry and make sure DS has packed everything he needs for camp (I drive him to that on Monday morning, UGG! 6am departure for a 4 hour drive), go see the new grandbaby sometime late in the afternoon and go to bed early!
I worked some yesterday, today and will tomorrow also.
That said, last night we went to a local community picnic/fireworks thing held by a church that a lot of my friends go to - it was great - awesome fireworks show!.
Today after work, got together with all of my sibs (3) and ate out lunch. Then tonight tried a new steak place with my family (DH and girls).
Yesterday I went ot my Aunt and Uncles for thier cook out then came home and pretty much surfed the web. Today I again surfed the web while doing laundry, did a little cleaning. Then worked tonight at the Disney Store from 6-10pm.
Tomorrow I will read the Sunday paper in the morning. I have a call in shift for the Disney store 2-6. Then I am meeting up with some friends who I worked with at the Disney store in Burlington that closed. We are going out to eat and then to see Wall-E. I have seen it already, but definatly am looking forward to seeing it again
