As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

My son and I returned from our trip to the world with these observations;
1) Some parents are mean. (my son's observation)
2) Summer is much more crowded than Spring Break or Christmas. (in fact, I think that people are staying away at Christmas because they think it will be too busy cause the last two years we were there it was not bad at all.)
3) No ride is worth a 3 hour wait in line. I can't imagine what would make somebody do this unless they just really want to do that particular ride and nothing else. That said, Soarin' and Toy Story Mania are almost worth three hours in line- but not at 12:00 am when the park either is closing or will close within the hour.
4) Mickey's clubhouse or playhouse, or whatever it is, from kiddie tv is absolutely amazing late at night during extra magic hours. We stopped by quite by accident at about 12:30 when the Studios closed at 1:00 and found a crazy dance party going on inside with bubbles pouring down from the ceiling, a guy making balloon animals, and all the characters from JoJo's Circus AND Mickey, Minnie , Goofy and Pluto. They were dancing with everyone and the crowd was small so it all seemed very informal.
What a great time we had!
5) Getting wet on Kali RR is fun. Getting absolutely soaked by a rainstorm on the way out to the buses will make you very cold on the way home.
6)The sloppy joes at POP Century food court are incredible.....even in the opinion of a mostly vegitarian person who rarely eats meat. Several cast members agreed with me.
7) I saw two Passporters with their pouches but only got to speak to one of them. Hi Deborah!
8)Four days is not enough time at the parks especially if you take one day for DTD and a waterpark. A lesson learned by my DSIL.
9) Two whole weeks is almost too long, even if you take off three days to do things other than the parks, especially if you don't have a car. Lesson learned by sunburned DS and I.
10)Taking too many little metal pieces (i.e. pins) through security will cause the security guard to tell you sternly that "sometimes you can have too much stuff " after he has spent ten minutes going through your over-packed bag.

Great notes! We may have to try the sloppy joes! That's DS's favorite meal around here! And thanks for the comments about Mickey's Playhouse. I'm wondering if DD is getting too "old" for it, but maybe we'll hit it at night and it will be "cool."
We always have a family discussion after seeing other families in public and make a point of telling our kids that we appreciate their good behavior (unlike a lot of what we see). In return, as they've gotten older, they thank us for providing fun opportunities.
I just came back from a trip in June and didn't think it was too bad but you really need to work fastpasses. I've never been at Christmas but went once over Easter and that wasn't bad at all. You're right about Soarin & Toy Story Midway Mania almost being worth a 3 hour wait (but I fastpassed both so I didn't wait 3 hours).
I want a chance to say 2 weeks is too long!!!!!!!
Totally agree with #3. We went to EPCOT last Memorial Day weekend and the posted wait time for Soarin' at 11 am was 120 minutes and people were still lining up. Not my cup of tea.
Thanks for sharing your notes. I am looking forward to Toy Story Mania but not enough to wait three hours. I see fastpasses in my future for that ride.
