As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Today I had a one on one with my boss where we go over what an excellent job I am doing and she tells me how much the company needs me.... I wish. But anyway, during this session we got side-tracked, by me, because she noticed I was writing on Mickey Mouse paper. She looks at me and shakes her head asking, "Heather, really, is that Mickey Mouse paper?". I look at her like she is crazy and say, "Um, yeah....would you expect anything else?". This begins our side-tracked conversation. She asked me if I had a room in my house that is my Mickey room. I told her no but I do have a Mickey Mouse bathroom and lots of Mickey Mouse stuff in my room including my Mickey ears. She looks at me, again, like I am crazy. She says, "Mickey ears? You have Mickey ears?". She is 42 and has never been to Disney and can't understand my love for all things Disney. We dicuss it a little more and she says "You know if you went on one of those tv shows and they saw your desk here and your bathroom and your house, they would tell you, you have a problem and you need help.". I cracked up and said, "It's an illness. I can't help it. I know it's a big addiction but there are for worse things I could be addicted to.". I picked up my Mickey Mouse paper and walked away. I think she needs some Disney magic so she can understand my illness!
So, just wanted to share that with all of my fellow Disney Addicts. We should start a support group DA. You walk in and say, "My name is Heather and I am addicted to Disney".

HI Heather, my name is Danielle and I am also a Disny addict.
Exactly what kind of 12-step should we follow? 12 easy steps on how to plan a maigcal vacation, perhaps?
Besides, Disney is a healthy addiction! You get exercise, you are out in fresh air, you drink more water, you learn things, you spens time withthe family uniterrupted by the outside world, you meet new people, you travel...the list goes on...
I'm not embarrased. When someone at work sees me in a Disney T-shirt, they always ask if I'm adicted like some people. I have to be honest. I say" NO. I'm worse!"

Hello everyone. My name is Teresa and I am a Disney Addict. I know I have a problem but I can't help it. My DH just told me before I told him about this thread that I am a Disney Addict and that I need DA, Disney Anonymous. Boy he knows me so well.
Hi Heather! My name is Andrea. Not only am I a Disney Addict, I am attempting to convert my two kids as well. We look for Hidden Mickey's everywhere and I am constantly checking our family budget to see when I can possibly arrange a trip to the World. Maybe next summer!

.
Hi Everyone! My Name is Samantha and I am a Disney Addict! I have converted DH into a Disney addict as well! The kids I am sure will follow after their 1st trip in December!
I'm going to take the position that nobody is addicted to Disney as such. At least, no more than a sports fan is addicted to his/her team(s), a golf fan is addicted to his/her game, an antiques/doll/porcelain, etc. collector is addicted to those objects, etc.
Many, many people wear their extra-curricular passions on their sleeves. In part, it's done to project a sense of personal identity into the workplace, in part to seek-out others that share the same passion, and in part to create a personal comfort zone. My guess is that the boss is equally vulnurable in that regard.
One way or the other, if your job performance is worthy of praise, and since your extracurricular passion is part of what makes you tick, if I were your boss, I wouldn't start messing with a winning formula.

Hi, my name is Darlene and I'm proud to be a Disney Addict and here's my 12 step program.
1. Start planning a vacation
2. Actually book the vacation
3. start planning your days at the parks
4. start planning ADR's
5. book the ADR's
6. start planning rides and shows
7. rethink the ADR's
8. change the ADR's
9. rethink and change the ADR's again
10. make all necessary envelopes, etc
11. take the vacation
12. come home dream about an unknown vacation date because I'm broke and can't go back in the forseeable future
May these non-believers be so lucky to catch the Disney bug!
Last night as DH and I were discussing our respective days, I explained to him why I love planning DW trips. We have traveled to some exotic places (Malaysia, Dubai, Mexico, Hawaii, Caracas coming soon, etc.) but it is somewhat difficult to plan these trips since they are not all inclusive like DW. Where else can you find guaranteed good food, great accomodations, entertainment for all ages, safety of the location, great books and sites to help with planning, not to mention characters whom we have come to love?? For me, it is great knowing that we will be amongst others who will share our admiration for Walt Disney, speak our language, use our currency, and yet, get a taste of other cultures whether it be from the World Showcase, CM's, or other visitors! I think I can speak for many of us by saying Disney offers a glimps of our childhoods that we are able to recapture & share with our children/grandchildren now. Disney keeps us young at heart... and maybe those who have lost their youthful ways will one day get the opportunity to rediscover themselves and come to realize why so many of us are "obsessed" with the Mickey! May they be so lucky!
