As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). My parents are going down to WDW in September to get the free dining and visit me at work! They've never been to Disney World. Well, that's a lie. They've both been to the Magic Kingdom, but dad visited in 1975 (or whatever year Elvis died) and mom visited in 1976 (because it was the bicentennial). So they've never been to WDW as we know it now.
So, I need some assistance helping them plan their trip, because I will be doing the majority of their planning because they have no idea.
They're staying for a week, and probably taking a day or two to drive south to visit some of my dad's family. I've decided they don't need park hoppers, and the dining plan is free. Dad went to AAA and got a price of $1100 for 5 nights at the Pop, but that included park hoppers. I think I'm going to have them drop the park hopper, because I know they wouldn't use it, and upgrade the resort to a moderate because the busses are closer to the gates and they'd enjoy the moderate. They don't have the easiest time walking, so the closer the better.
I've already mapped out what parks to go to on what days and what rides NOT to ride. I know them. One ride on the Tower of Terror would wipe them out for the week. I'm still working on the ADR's. They haven't booked the trip yet, but since they're doing it through AAA, I need to let them know where and when to eat.
I'm so excited!!! I can't wait for them to experience WDW!!
My parents loved WDW right up until they died, at 84 and 82. Make sure that whatever building your parents are in is near the bus area . There are some long walks to the buses from almost every resort except maybe Port Orleans French Quarter.

Sounds like an awesome trip! My parents are joining us for the first time on our trip next week. I have a lot of the same concerns. Not a lot of advice to give yet, but will probably have a whole list of suggestions when we get back! My parents have difficulty walking too, so we rented scooters for them. Dad has a cardiac condition and Mom has had multiple joint replacements due to arthritis. I figure that even if they don't use the scooters all of the time, at least they're available. I'm not sure how old your parents are - mine are 77 and 81. No crazy rides for my parents either - they can watch the kids if they feel so inclined! Have fun booking their ADR's - that should be fun!
How nice of you to plan (and fun!). I think you're right about not needing the PH if they have trouble walking. Be sure to request a first floor room if you choose POR-AB - there are no elevators (I think POFQ and the mansions in POR have them though).
You could print out menus for them for some restaurants you think they would like (on allearsnet.com) and with free dining - awesome!!!!

ADR's depend on a lot of things....like what type of food do they like? How important is atmosphere and noise. Sometimes we had a great deal of fun at places the food wasn't great. But also, what park(s) will they be in....would they prefer to eat in or out of those parks?
