As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Do any of you have young daughters (under 10) who are beginning to show signs of puberty?
I never thought my middle DD would be faced with this at such a young age, but she's been showing 'signs' since she was 8 years old - now, she's wearing a training bra every day and I swear I'm seeing signs of those changing hormones with sudden outbursts and getting upset or teary for no reason every once in a while! She'll just be 10 in a few weeks!!
I know it's been reported that girls are reaching puberty at earlier ages now - is anyone else on this merry-go-round at this young an age yet?
I feel your pain. My daughter turned 9 in October. She is developing rather quickly. I can't get her to where the bras. I have begged. She is wearing Cami's with lycra. She has always been kind of funny about the way clothes feel, hates tags, etc. Having that pressure around her chest area is not something that she is liking. Her teenage brothers are even more upset about this than I am. Very moody. I am definitely not ready for her teenage years.

My now 14 yr. old developed pretty quickly at 8. She was in bras daily, and had the hormones going on.
She was very upset over the whole thing, so we took her to the pediatrician who was able to tell her everything was okay, and that she was NOT odd because she was developing earlier than her classmates.
My last baby is now 10, and shows little sign of it. It just depends on the kid.
9yo is right there, in fact, I just got back from Target with sports bras in a bigger size. (I passed over the PADDED bras for little girls... ) Now 19yo actually started on her 10th birthday, so I'm thinking this one is headed down that same path. Almost 12yo has been having regular hormonal cycles for a few years now...

Oh yeah my just turned 10 yo has been wearing a sports bra daily for about a year now and the hormones are raging in fact I am "the worst Mom EVER" (said in a very drama queenish voice) at least once a day Having been through it once already and finally having an 18 yo who is almost normal again (not quite) I am not looking forward to it the second (or third or fourth) time around in fact just wake me up when they are all past it So yes I feel your pain My oldest DD started developing at about 10 so DD#2 isn't that far off from her but it's still too soon for me

In some of the research I did during nursing school (since obviously women's health/labor & delivery is my forte) as time passes girls are maturing earlier and earlier as evolution progresses.
In my mom's day they didn't start their cycles until their teen years.....in my day it was early teens, some pre-teens. Nowadays it's not unusual to hear of 9-10 yr olds starting cycles & having the raging hormones with body changes.
My DD wore the sports bras early too. Her period started at 10 yrs. 10 months. It's very startling if your own development was later, but it seems common today.

I know it is hard for all you parents out there. But it is a part of life that everyone hates to go through. I HATE bras, but I guess that is because I have been in them sents I was 9 years old. For me training bras were a pain. I went from being in one for a week to size A the next week to a C the next and two weeks after that a D and then a year later a DD. So I know where the kids are coming from about them. I would suggest trying out sports bras. If all else fails get a swim suit top for her to ware under her shirts. If she is small enough she can get away with this for a little while until she gets use to waring a regular bra. You could also try getting her to ware them for a few hours a day until she is use to waring them.
My 9 year old is showing signs. The gymnastics coach recommended she get a sports bra for next session. She doesn't like wearing them either. I liked the idea of the swimsuit top maybe I will try that for a little while.
I was an early bloomer. Started wearing a bra at 8 and period at 10. I had a mom who NEVER talked about the facts of life, so it was a bit scary/annoying to me at the time. Luckily DD11 has not developed as early, wears a bra but doesn't need it. But we have already talked about what will happen and what we will do to celebrate the day when it happens.

I was also an early bloomer. Cycle started at age 11, skipped the training bra and went from flat to B overnight. My older sister (3 yrs older) and I both started puberty at the same time. I don't know how my DM stood us without commiting murder.
Lorraine's comment just reminded me- my DD had been wanting her ears pierced, but I told her she could get them pierced at 13. (I had to wait till I was 16.) I picked 13 as an age where she would be responsible enough to properly care for her ears.
Then she got her period a month before her 11th birthday. So, while birthday shopping in a mall, my DSis and I surprised her while we were shopping in Claire's (girl's jewelry store that pierces ears) and asked her if she wanted to get her ears pierced that day. She was shocked! But she was ready and willing and sooo thrilled. I figured if she HAD to handle the icky part of womanhood, she SHOULD be allowed to enjoy one of the fun parts!
