As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

At my baby shower (or DD's depending on how you looked at it) we each had a mini clothespin (I think Wilton makes them in pink or blue) on our nametags. Every time you caught someone saying the word "baby" you took their clothespin/clothespins. Then they set a timer and the person with the most pins when the timer went off got a prize.
OR....maybe I should have read the whole thread before posting!!!
I love throwing showers.............all of the above games are great ( I love string around mom's belly and "don't say baby" is very popular) A few more are...............
**get several baby items in a basket(pacifier, diapers, bottle, ect) Give everone 2 minutes to look at it and then take it away and see who can remeber the most items in the basket.
**Have bottles filled with beverage of choice (alcholic, formula, whatever) and see who can drink it the fastes
**get several baby items in a basket(pacifier, diapers, bottle, ect) Give everone 2 minutes to look at it and then take it away and see who can remeber the most items in the basket.
That is what I was thinking.
Only at my shower for DD, we used a cookie sheet (because we didn't have a serving tray or what have you), laid all the items out on it and put it on the coffee table for 2 minutes then covered it up with a towel while we guessed the items.
There are a few games I can think of that haven't been mentioned -
1. Put baby items in a paper or canvas bag - let people feel in it for about 45 seconds each, then write down what they think they felt.
2. Put cotton balls in a bowl - have each person, in order, sit in a chair blindfolded and using a wooden spoon - or baby spoon in this case - scoop up the cotton balls and place them on a plate they are holding on their head (you will see that they need to hold the bowl, the plate, and the spoon - yet I've never met anyone with 3 arms!)
3. Then there is the written quiz - Name all of the kids from the Cosby Show, name the mom on Bewitched, how many children lived with the Brady Family? etc. TV family trivia!
I recently went to my cousin's baby shower and one game we played was everyone had to write one piece of advice about having a baby boy on a piece of paper. The mother-to-be had to pick her favorite. The person she picks wins a prize. My cousin picked one that had to do with an oscillating fan.
**get several baby items in a basket(pacifier, diapers, bottle, ect) Give everone 2 minutes to look at it and then take it away and see who can remeber the most items in the basket.
We did this at the shower I went to last year, except the stuff was on a tray. You think it's so easy, until you can't remember anything you looked at
They also had baby food for the guys to taste (both guys and girls were invited). They had to guess what it was they were eating, which was fun with some of their expressions
Love all the game ideas, but here are a few we ALWAYS do.
1) Get a shallow bowl and fill it 3/4 full of small grain rice. Add a package of those small gold saftey pins ans tur them together real well. Blindfold the person to play and have them "feel' around in the bowl and see haw many pins thay can pull out and place on a plate. Sounds easy, but it's not.
2) Tell everyone "mom" will be the center of attention while opening gifts, having luncheon, greeting guests, (Pick any amount of time here. The less time it takes, the better.) when the time is up, have "mom" excuse herself to another room for a "rest". while "mom" is "resting" ask the guests to list as many items as they can remember that mom was wearing. Spacifics count, and have her wear several things to catch the guests up. If she is wearing slacks, have her wear a Pooh sock on one foot and a Tigger sock on the other. Have her wear two similar but differant earrings. Have her put her wedding/engagment ring on her right hand. this one is great fun and it reminds us all that mom will need extra attention after baby gets there.
3) If you want a variation on the clothes pin/ pacafier game, we always hand each guest a diaper pin. They have to wear it on their front of their shirt. If they get cought crossing their legs (and that means ancles too.), they loose a pin. We always play it is only one pin per catch, so if someone has several pins they would only loose one at a time unless caught simultaniously by more than one person.
4) The funniest one I have ever played is: You will need a cordless phone, a clothes line, a large batch of clothes pins, a life size baby doll, and various baby clothes and diapers. The person playing must "talk" on the phone, hold the baby, and hang the laundry all at the same time. They can not pick anything up once they hang the first item on the line, so they must also hold all the clothes pins and clothes as well. If they drop ANYTHING they are done. Be sure to include a large receiving blanket or beach towel in the pile of clothes as this is key to being a success. A "smart" mom will make a sling of the blanket and put baby in it, then pin the clothes pins to the edge of the blanket. Then she'll throw the clothes over one shoulder and hold the phone on the other shoulder while she hangs all the clothes. If she makes it to the end, she has to have hung the blanket/towel as well. Most moms don't do this though and it can be a riot watching them try to get it done. Of course there has to be a prize for the one who hangs the most, but we also include a prize for the mom w/ the best method for getting the job done.
If I can come up with any others, i'll be back.

Recently, at a shower, we played match the baby to their celebrity parents. Two columns-one with celebrity baby names (Suri, Moon Unit, Shiloh) and the other with celebrity parents (in no particular order-Frank Zappa, Brad Pitt, Katie Holmes) , and match them up! We had some really obscure ones and of course a few easy "in the news" babies...
You could always use a Disney theme -Tarzan/Kala, Simba/Mufasa...
Have fun!
At school we do a baby drawing game. Participants put a plate on top of their heads then use a pen to try and draw a baby. After about 5 minutes, the game ends, and the plates are displayed. The mom-to-be then chooses the "best". A really fun and quick game.
All ideas I had have already been stated, but one I saw at a shower once was to fill baby bottles up with a beverage of choice (nipple attached) and whomever can finish their bottle first wins the prize.
