As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Dh gave me the best "gift" today. He told me to go ahead and plan a kid free, anniversary/birthday trip. I asked when do you want to go. He said during your birthday of course. So now I am trying to plan a trip for September 11-18. We have decided to stay at POP again (3 time) get a preferred room. 7 day park hopper, water parks and more option. This will be my third trip to WDW, went 12-2005, 12-2007. This will be the first trip without DD. We are planning to do things we can't do with her with us. And this will be the first trip that there will be no holiday decorations. (yea--i want to see the park a different way)
Now on to my questions:
What is the weather like?
What are crowds like?
Is the water parks and Pleasure Island worth the extra money?
Anyone know what the parks hours were last year?
Where can I find out?
So many questions about this time of year.
Thanks in advance

Time for the magic?
Let's plan another trip!!
My birthday is Sept. 5 so my Dh took me to WDW Sept 2 thru Sept 7 2007. The weather was sunny and hot most days, it rained on us once but wasn't a total wash out all day. Yes, water parks were still appreciated and Pleasure Island is a blast 'specially when you don't have to worry about the kids missing you or having to pay for a babysitter. The park hours were the standard for summer still, I think. I have been to WDW during Sept and December and the first thing I think you will notice is that the crowds are thinner than in December. July 4th is another really crowded time. I have also spent New Year's Eve at WDW and it is crowded too. There is alot of good information for everything at Deb's Unofficial Walt Disney World Vacation Information Guide - WDW Planning Guide - Walt Disney World, there are menus, photos, tips, reviews, rehabs and closings and just about anything you need to know. I hope this helps you. Have fun!
I went to WDW in September this year very similar dates to the ones your planning.
The crowds were lighter then what we are used to (May, and summer crowds) but were heavier then the crowds we saw in December 2006 but not by much!
The Weather it was HOT and it rained more then we are used to. But it was manageable! Definitely not as bad as July but it was hotter then May (which is what we were most used to)
Definitely visit Deb's site there is so much info to gain there, and the boards here are a wealth of information.

We went this past September and stayed at Pop too. The weather was nice, it did rain a couple times, but it wasn't too bad. The crowds were great, a lot of the rides we just walked right on, and if there was a wait, it was never very long. I think you will really enjoy it. Have fun planning your trip!!
I went in September 2006. The weather was very warm, but, it is a great time to go. I think the longest wait in line that I had was maybe 10-15 minutes (at the very most). Most rides were walk on. It was wonderful.

Weather is hot as hades in Sept, but the crowds are much smaller! The water parks and more add on is up to you . . .we had it last trip and didn't really make use of it@ You can look on both the WDW site and tour guide mike to see what the crowds were like at that time last year. I can personally tell you that crowds were light in the am and got heavier as lunch time approached. I love Disney in Sept but we have moved next year's trip to early Dec. We want to see the parks done up for the holidays!
Congrats on your Christmas gift What a great DH you have
You have gotten some good advice on the weather and crowds I was going to let you know Pleasure Island is well worth the money I hanging out at the Adventurers Club When I go without DD, it is on the top of my "must-do" list
We have gone our last two trips in Sept/early Oct. In 2006 we went from Sept 30 to Oct 7. This year we went Sept 18 to Sept 29. Both times we were able to get the free food special. We had more rain this year then we have in any of our trips. The lines were non exsisting the most was maybe 20 mins. We went to the MNSSHP & the wait times stated 10-15min but really it was how long it took you to walk through the line to get to the ride. We have enjoyed going at this time of year.
What a great gift...since you are going "adults" only I would think that the WP & more add on would be great since you can go to Pleasure Island a few nights....
We had it the last time and only went once (becuase we had the kids) but we had a great time....I would have loved to go again and check out some of the other clubs (namely the adventure club) that we did nto get a chance to go to....
