As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Northern Indiana is flat as my fanny. Southern Indiana is hilly. We live in the middle. I love watching the sunrise (facing east as I drive the kids to school) and sunset (I'm facing west as I drive home), and the fall colors are just wonderful!

This time of year I see some killer sunrises as I drive to work. While our valley is not what I would call beautiful, it has it's moments. Spring time orchards are gorgeous with the blooms, and winter can be quite pretty!
Scarlett made me think of when we lived in Charlotte, NC - and the thing I'll always remember was the beautiful landscaping all around the city. In the spring, the flowering pears with their white blossoms made it look as if a cloud of snow had settled along each tree. And in the summer - the gorgeous deep colors of the crape myrtles!!! What a show of color!
Here in middle TN, we have the rolling hills, all topped with pines and other trees -and the sharp out-croppings of rocks and boulders; the many small streams; rivers and lakes - mists along the valleys in the early morning. Very beautiful.

We live in a mix of urban environment with some dwindling corn fields here and there that are fast disappearing. A friend of mine rented an old farm house for years. It was oddly out of place on top of a hill with fields around, city right past the field. It was gorgeous when the sun rose in the morning in spring and summer. It gets so humid around here at night if it cools off enough everything gets covered in dew. In the morning it heats up so fast all the dew would burn off the corn in a mist. So pretty. And for some reason we have the most gorgeous sunsets from our neighborhood - pinks, purples, oranges, you name it.
Where we live, we have vibrant colored flowers all Spring/Summer, then golds, reds, oranges burst into Autumn. When it's time for the snow to fly, we have LOTS of pine and fir trees that still show their green underneath the white blankets. There are so many TREES in our area, I used to take them for granted until I travelled so much this year and saw so much flat and empty land.
I love the way the sky looks in the morning, while I am walking to my car after a long night at work. It is amazing. It almost looks like someone took a paint brush and painted the sky different colors of purple, pink, blue, and white. The sun is also beginning to rise and it just makes the sky look even more amazing.

Being a biologist - I spend LOTS of time outside. N Florida has very unique environments - the coastal marsh, the coastal strand, our beautiful sandy beaches.... manatees, dolphins, sea turtles... this is a beautiful place!
I love the Twin Cities area! We have many beautiful lakes throughout the area (and actually the entire state since we are the "Land of 10,000 Lakes!) Fall is one of my favorite times of year as the change of colors on the trees is gorgeous. I took part in the Twin Cities Marathon Ten Mile Race a couple of weekends ago, and the colorful leaves on the trees along the Mississippi River were just stunning.
Last weekend I was in Arizona to visit DD, and we took a day trip up to Sedona. I have to say that the Red Rock Country of Arizona is beautiful. We took a Pink Jeep Tour at sunset, and the views were absolutely breath-taking. I took photos but they simply didn't do justice to how beautiful the landscape really was.
I enjoy sitting on the beach when a storm is moving in....I find it so peaceful and there aren't that many natural peaceful places in the city but I was lucky enough to grow up by the beach....ok it is not a nice Hawaiian beach or even a Florida beach but when it is empty and you just sit there and can actually see the sky as the clouds move in and the change in the color....I find it breathtaking
However I have found that many people think I am nuts as I was one of those rare people running to the beach as the storm was coming in while a mass exodus was running off the beach to get to the train before the rain came....lol
I work on a college campus - one with lots of bricks and white columns. Right now the leaves are turning orange, yellow and red making the brick walk down campus beautiful. I have to get out there on a sunny day and get a picture, it's rainy and dreary today.
