Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Question getting from one resort to the other

HI...I know there is a web site out there somewhere that lets you know the best way to get around Disney from point A to point B. Anyone know it? I am trying to figure out a few events and we are staying on Disney property without car rental. One of the ones I don't know is how to get from PORR to Beach Club. Also, I had heard that there is a direct bus from PORR to Fort Wilderness for the Hoop Dee Doo. anyone know if this is true? thanks for any info. 9 days and coutning.

Howdy! Last year we exclusively used Disney's system and it really worked for us. It just takes some extra planning and figuring and a little extra time.

I am not sure about the website. But, I just used my PP to figure out where buses and boats, etc went. I am not sure about the direct bus to Fort Wilderness from your resort.

The best thing would be to take a bus to the park closest to Fort Wilderness (MK) and then take a boat to Ft. Wilderness.

To get to Beach Club, take a bus to MGM and then a boat to Beach Club.

Happy planning!

I don't know about a bus going directly from your resort to FW for HDDR, but they used to have buses ready to return everyone to their resorts after the show. I do not know if that is still the case.

I think this is the site you are refering to: Transportation Wizard I also recommend allowing an hour for your travel time.

Hope this helps!

My only word of warning is that if you stay late at a resort to eat, sometimes some of the transport options can stop running. This happened to us a couple of times.

If you do get stuck like this, the transportation to Pleasure Island keeps running late so you might have to get a bus to PI and then back to your resort. This can take a little time.

During park opening hours though, we just use the PP transportation info and really enjoy travelling on the different forms of transportation.

Hope this helps

I've never heard of a boat from PORiverside to HDDR. What I'd do there is to take a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then a boat to Fort Wilderness Campsites. I believe the HDDR theatre is right off of the dock.

Someone confirm this please!

Another option to get to the Beach Club is by walking out of Epcot using the International Gateway (between the UK and France) -- check out a guide map or your Passporter for that location. There is also a boat that will take you from the I-gateway to the Beach Club, the Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin and then MGM, but it's sloooooow. You'll do much better time-wise walking and it's really not far at all - maybe 5 minutes from the I-gateway.

There is no bus that runs from PORR to FW.
To get to FW for HDDR, you'll have to do one of the following:
-take the bus to MK, then the boat launch to FW, then a short walk to Pioneer Hall.
-take a bus from PORR to any other park (not MK), then transfer to the FW bus at that park.

To get to BC from PORR, you can do one of the following:
-Take the bus to Epcot, walk through Epcot to International Gateway then out IG to BC... it's a 5 minute walk from IG to BC... (you'll need park admission to go through Epcot, of course).
-Take the bus to MGM, then the boat to BC.
-Take the bus to MGM, then walk to BC.
-Take the bus to MK/AK/DTD, then hop on the BC bus from there.

The benefit to taking the boat from the MK is that, as Rob says above, the walk to Pioneer Hall from the boat dock is very short. If you take a bus to Fort Wilderness, then you have to transfer to an internal bus to get over to Pioneer Hall.

On the way home from the HDDR show, you may have to take a different route if the MK is closed by that time or if the buses might be super crowded. I find that taking a bus to DtD and then the boat from DtD back to the Port Orleans resorts is very lovely at night.
Eileen

PS - a good thing to remember is that you can get from any resort to another resort, by taking a bus to the closest (open) park and then hopping a bus to the resort you're trying to get to.

Also, know that buses don't run from Downtown Disney to any parks. If you want to get to a park from DtD, take a bus to a resort and then hop a bus to the park. (You could also take a boat from DtD -- down by Rainforest Cafe -- to the Port Orleans resorts and then walk out to their bus station and take a bus to the park of your choice.

We like taking the transportation sometimes, because you get to see parts of WDW that you don't always. I find it's great 'down time' without wasting too much time.

If going to a different resort with the Disney system during a peak season then allow extra time. It took us an hour to get from OKW to the Poly for our reservations. We almost missed the show and our meal.
