As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Silly Question of the Day 11/27 - What\'s the funniest...
I don't know if I've ever told this story here or not.
It was 1980 and we were staying at Fort Wilderness. The kids were 7, 9 and 10. We wanted different things for dinner, so we split up. I don't remember where DH and DD#1 went, but DD#2, DS and I went to the Trail's End. I haven't been there since 1982 so I don't know if the set-up is the same, but back then there was a cafeteria line and also a seperate counter where you could put your order in. We went to this short order window. You then go to your table and wait for your number to be called.
If I remember right, the seating is on two levels, with a few tables and video games on the lower level and more tables on the upper level where the cafeteria and food window are located. The atmosphere was very western with wood floors and tables with red checkered tablecloths. At that time the tables were nicely set with silverware, napkins, salt and pepper.
I put our order in, found a table where DD#2 and I waited while DS went down and played video games. Now the place was crowded and with all the wood, very noisy. My number was called so I got up quickly to go pick up our order. Well, when I sat down I crossed my leges. When I got up, the tablecloth was between my legs. I got up so fast that I dragged the whole tablecloth off the table and the silverware and salt and pepper shakers bounced around and clattered on the floor. DD#2 was so embarrassed that she just slide right off her chair and disappeared under the table as the whole place gave me a round of applause!
I then had to walk through and past these people to go up and get our food. I think I made everyone's day because most people laughed the rest of the way through their meal.

Re: Silly Question of the Day 11/27 - What\'s the funniest...
..and then there was the time last September at the 1st PassPorter Meet.
A bunch of us had spent the night at The Adventurer's Club and had a riot of a time. I didn't have anything to drink there because I had 2 pineapple drinks at the Poly earlier and that's about my limit.
I was traveling alone, so when Nate and Spence called it a night, I decided to leave with them because we were both at the All Stars. The bus was very crowded so we had to stand. I wasn't tipsy, but the bus driver was taking some pretty mean corners! On one of these corners I couldn't keep my balance and I fell into a gentleman's lap! If that wasn't bad enough, I couldn't get any leverage to get up. The guy not only didn't try to help me up, but he didn't say a word to me. I finally made it up with a hand from Nate.
Now, does anyone picture Lucille Ball when they think of me!

Re: Silly Question of the Day 11/27 - What\'s the funniest...
I can laugh at this now, but I wasn't the least bit amused at the time! The one thing that I considered inviolate was the plan for our last Saturday night in the MK, so you just know that everything would go wrong....We got on the ferry from the WL on a beautiful summer evening, and it ended up idling in the middle of the Bay because the boat in front of it had a problem & they weren't allowed to pass-OK,it turns out that one of the CMs on the boat an I had gone to Junior High together(!) so he nicely called over to the LTT to have them hold our PS. He told me that,as a result of the back up, the park would be overcrowded. For some reason known only to the god of bad luck, the ferry suddenly shifted violently just as I was driving my scooter off of it, so the front end was in midair!By the time the Titanic crew had remedied the situation and we made it to LTT, we were informed that it would be a 90 minute wait, and we would then miss the Spectromagic Parade(on my list!).Quick thinking- we headed over to the parade route, where the CMs insisted that we go to the THIRD handicapped seating area, along side of the big oak tree, sending the kids into Tommorowland with $$ to purchase dinner so that we can eat during the parade.I drive into the roped off area and tell the CM,"please don't put anyone right up against me because I have great difficulty managing with my knee brace in case of an emergency"; he says "no problem", and 2 minutes later crams another scooter right into me and tells me that "it needs to be done that way, regardless of what I wanted or needed". He left, and the woman next to me hops off of her scooter and begins to RUN around the area, waving to friends. The kids come back empty handed saying they are unable to get waited on because they are so short that they were getting shoved around in the crowd(quite a feat, considering our daughter's persistance!), so my partner disapears into the throng with them, bent on returning with food.10 minutes pass, the sky turns black with rain clouds and a huge clap of thunder shakes the ground, sending the "handicapped" woman next to me scampering over the stone bench, over the railing and halfway up the oak tree(great place to be in a storm!).It is absolutely pouring, wind blowing, uugghh; and the tree woman begins yelling for someone "to come and get her out of there". 4 CM's come and usher her and her party out of the area, leaving her scooter, and ignoring my,by now rather frantic, pleas for help.My scooter was flooded out, the streets were running 2" deep with H2O. and the CM's had locked the roped off area, leaving me there in the monsoon!!The huddled masses, including some CMs under the popcorn tents snickered, but no one came to,or even called for help. After 25 minutes-my new Disney 2001 watch was still working-2 young men, CMs from Tomorrowland came by and saw me.sitting there like a drowned rat(or should I say "Mouse"?), and tried to help. WE couldn't get the scooter to run and they couldn't unlock the "corral",so they decided to cut the rope & push me over to TL!!They then went with our daughter to get ponchos, called over to the WL and asked them to send a van over to the MK to get us. These 2 great guys pushed me all the way to the front of the park, waited with us, and then loaded me into the van.All I had wanted was a nice dinner at the LTT, and to see Spectromagic and the fireworks over the castle-it seemed simple enough!Back at the WL,the Ops.Mgr saw us come in,sopping wet,and gave us a free family meal at Artist's Point. It was warm and wonderful, and young Master Christopher fell asleep, face down, in his salmon!!Truly a night to remember!!! Re: Silly Question of the Day 11/27 - What\'s the funniest...
I'm sure I've got a ton of funny moments at Disney but the one ( most recent) that stands out in my mind is my 9YO upsetting an entire table of food in Boatwrights.. all over the waitress.. There was ketchup flying everywhere..

Re: Silly Question of the Day 11/27 - What\'s the funniest...
What great stories! I can't stop giggling...err laughing out loud!
We've had a few too, but this one stands out as the time I laughed the hardest. DH and I were having a late dinner at Crystal Palace and there weren't too many people there so we were getting alot of attention from Pooh & Co. Pooh had set up shop at our table and I was standing up giving him a big hug when Eeyore came up from behind me and slammed me into a Pooh/Eeyore sandwich I was sort of bent forward and if you see the pictures, it looks really weird (there must be some fetish website out there that caters to such things - LOL!) I was wearing one of those satin princess hats and it got bent and slip down nearly over my face I was laughing so hard I could barely breathe and DH just stood there snapping pictures and giggling. Definitely a highlight of that trip!
Peace, love & ºoº

Re: Silly Question of the Day 11/27 - What\'s the funniest...
We were at WDW in DEC 2000, and one day, we headed for Blizzard Beach. We were wading through the large wave pool, and some of the water had splashed up on our friend Kenny's glasses. We were standing there, when we realized Kenny was wiping his glasses off on a towel that was wrapped around a woman's waist. He thought it was his WIFE. but, imagine his surprise when he looked up at a very miffed woman, who was NOT his wife! The rest of us were in fits of laughter over his mistake, and boy, was his face red!
On that same trip, we were enjoying the bird show at AK. There is a part of the show where a bird flies out into the audience and lands on the hand of someone who is holding out a dollar bill. Kenny (AGAIN!) suddenly stuck his hand out, confusing the bird, and the bird landed on Kenny! THe CM gritted her teeth, and smiled one of those "I-could-just-scream" smiles, and the stunt had to be done again! We, however laughed and laughed!
