As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I just have to share this cute story about Shelby (9YO)... Even tho she can play softball & basketball & give her older brothers a run for their money in sports.. she is ALL GIRL as well & loves frilly things, make-up ( I could make another post on the mascara incident last week!! ) & BOYS!!! She has started reading the teen magazines & thinks Zack Ephron <sp?> is 'hot'..
As most of you know, my brother is the basketball coach of a local college basketball team here & we try to go to the games when we can.. Well, last year Shelby came home from a game & told me she thought Denny ( a player) was cute. his parents & my brother & SIL are good friends. Denny & my niece Emily were born within months of each other so I've known him all of his life.. Last year I mentioned to Denny's Mom that Shelby had a crush on him & she thought it was soooo cute.
Fast forward to this year.. She still has her crush on Denny but she has now taken to wearing 'dressier' clothes to the games so Denny can see her. Last week I was talking to his Mom & told her Shelby still had a crush on Denny.. so after the game his Mom told him & he came over to talk to Shelby, & my not EVER shy daughter blushed & hid behind my back...
Last night I had a meeting to go to at Jamies school so my SIL took Shelby to my brothers game.. (Brendan works at my brothers games as a water boy) . Shelby asked me to please bring my camera to take a picture of Denny. I brought Jamie, his friend & Shelby's friend to the game .. We got there a few minutes after the game started & Shelby was beside herself with excitement when I sat down.. My brothers team is doing great this year & is nationally ranked & if they won last night & today they take the Championship ( & get an auctomatic bid to Branson!) so the school put on a mini pep rally before the game handing out towels to wave, auctioning off signed balls & as each player was announced they gave a T-shirt to a person in the crowd.. well, beforehand my brother had asked one of his star players to give Shelby a shirt.. (here's a pic of him, in the white jersey )
Ryne gave Shelby his shirt & she was sooo excited but the last player announced was Denny & Denny walked over to Shelby & bent down & gave her HIS shirt... My SIL said Shelby was so cute.. she blushed & everyone cheered ( knowing of the crush) I sooo wish I had been there to see that . Then my brother gave Shelby a shirt.. Shelby was nice enough to give her friend, Rachel a shirt
After the game the team had a pizza party met & greet.. Well Shelby & Rachel wanted to get their shirts signed by the team so my niece took them around & got the shirts signed by everyone.. Denny took a while to come out of the locker room & usual MO is to walk over to his parents first thing for a hug.. Well, his Mom told him how excited Shelby was to get the shirt & then I asked him if we could get a picture of him with her.. He gladly posed & put his arm around her.. look at the smile on Miss Shelby's face.. Rachel was kinda befuddled
I remember when my brother was playing basketball, I had 2 big crushes on his teammates.. My brother is 11YO older than me & I was like the little mascot at his high school basketball games & Hayden, the object of my crush knew I 'liked' him & always made a point to say " Hi Annie" & give me a wave at all the games & I would squeal..
When my brother was in college I had a crush on Les.. my brothers roomate.. He resembled Mark Lindsay of the group the Raiders (I know i'm dating myself, here) & he too would play up the crush.. My brother has stayed friends with Les and Les' brother is Jamies basketball coach so we see each other frequently & we always giggle about the crush!
So, obviously.. like mother, like daughter!!
So... did you ever have a crush on an older man ( teacher, etc RLP)? care to share any good stories.. or we're you ever the object of a kids crush?.. I don't think I ever was... a couple of years ago the 3rd graders in the elementary school I work at had to write a story on their favorite person in the school & Brendans friend Danny wrote about me... I still have that story!!

That's just adorable; Shelby's just glowing in the picture... too funny!
I remember having a crush on my neighbors brother... he was so cool; and my brother had a band, and they sometimes jammed in the garage, and I know I used to hang out and think I was so cool, with all those guys around (he was 10 years older than I was)... oh, the good ole days!
I had a crush on an older guy in my sister's grade - she was 2 years ahead of me in school, and he was 3 yrs. older than me. Took me 2 years to get his attention. He's Samantha's biological father.
Years ago, when I was 21, I worked in community theater, and one of the extras in a play that I was conned into actually going on-stage for (I usually worked behind the scenes doing costuming and make-up and some prop stuff) had a huge crush on me. He was 15, and was so sweet. I had just broken up with a guy, and was pretty depressed. This kid made me feel better about myself. He was also really upset when I explained that while I thought he was very mature for his age (he was), and very cute (to die for!), we'd have to wait at least 3 years, or I could be in some serious trouble. He was happily into his first high school girl friend when I got married.
My dad started taking my sister and I to minor league baseball games when I was 10 by the time I was 12 it was a family afair and we would go to EVERY game of the season (even some out of town). I can't tell you how many "crushes" I had...but there were alot! When I was a bit older I actually started hanging out with the players (ssshhh...don't tell mom...she was clueless half the time). Most of the ball players were trouble with a capital "T". One of the worst troublemakers was Rob Dibble....boy could that guy drink. Now he is on ESPN...go figure
