As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

The Events of 05/05/05
All right, this is it, May 5th 2005, the moment we all have been waiting for... and I will be there to experience it!
I will be driving up to Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom, Disneyland USA on May 5th 2005 to take part of Disney history. Planning to get up at the front gates at 7:00, we will see the huge ceremony, after the park opens at 9:00. I plan to film anything and everything that day and upload video onto a web site, so you all can see what I saw on that eventful day. I will be sitting down for Walt Disney's Parade of Dreams at least an hour and a half before show time, and get a spot for Remember... Dreams Come True at least 3 hours before show time. I am not sure wether or not we will see Block Party Bash or Fantasmic! while we are up there, as it interferes with the bigger 50th stuff. We will then spend the night that night at the near by travilodge, and drive back home the next day. If anyone else is going to be there that night, and wouldn't mind sitting with me and my Mom before show time to keep us company, be sure to let me know! This is going to be awesome!

Re: 05/05/05 Pre Trip summery
Let me know about Tinker Bell. Our TA said that she is going to be part of this event in this parade. I also need to know if she will be doing character signing. We are going next year and I am trying to set up something with Tink when we arrive. DD is so into Tink. I'll be posting pictures of her new room once it is done. Thanks for letting us know of your up coming trip.

FK,
The only thing that's keeping me sane reading your posts is knowing we're going in July. I can't wait to hear all about your day. I'm planning on using your info to plan our trip, so you better remember it all!!! Have a great time. You've got a pretty cool mom to do this!

/\ All right folks, it sounds like it's up to me to keep boosmom sane!
Well, maybe this will help, I made a little Teaser Trailer to get everyone excited. You must have Quick Time on your computer to play it. If you don't have Quicktime, you can get it off Apple.com for both Mac and Windows.

05-05-05 Part 1
05-05-05 Part 1
Hey guys, I'm back from an incredibly amazing (and crowded) day! I will try to get as much media on as I can later, but for now here is the a trip report about what happened
I woke up to my alarm clock at 5:30 and quickly got changed and ran down stairs to the computer. After posting quickly on the PP boards that I was leaving, mom and I got in the car for the hour and a half drive to DL. As we were driving up, it began to rain, and even though it stopped as we got closer to the resort, some of the clouds looked pretty scary.... When we finally drove our car into the resort, there was already a huge line of cars to get into the parking area. The structure was suppose to open at 8, but there were so many cars that the line was going to start overflowing into streets if they didn't do something, so they opened up at 7:15. After parking the car, we RAN to the tram, which took us to the entrance plaza. There was already a HUGE line outside the gates and I do mean HUGE. The end of the line was right in the center of the plaza, so we sat and waited for them to open. While we waited I noted the huge TV out in front of DCA that was showing a 5 minute ad for Block Party Bash. It was cool because it showed allot of the parade, but imagine having to listen to that loud thing playing over and over again for over an hour ! We chatted with other Disney fans to pass the time (well, I guess everyone there were all Disney fans to begin with anyway, but you know what I mean), and finally the gates opened and the line moved forward.
Now, when I say the line moved forward, I don't just mean "line". I should say "mob", because now the lines where all the way past the DCA gates and into DTD ! We all pushed our way to Main Street, and saw the castle had finally gotten it's crowns on, and they looked good (not great, but still pretty cool). We were stuck between the music store and something else I don't remember. We stood there in this huge mob of people and about 15 minutes later the announcer came on the loud speakers and welcomed us to the Happiest Homecoming on Earth, and "on behalf of everyone here at the Disneyland Resort: Welcome Home!". A huge cheer went up, and the park opened. We began to push toward the hub to see the ceremony, which maybe we would kind of regret later....
Coming Up Next: "Well, at least we can hear the people talking!"

Oh my goodness - it was obviously a busy day. I hope the crowds don't detract from your enjoyment of the day and I can't wait to read more.

Re: 05-05-05 Part 1
We watched that Block Party 'ad' once, but I sure wouldn't want to sit there listening to it for an hour, either Sounds like a crazy busy time, but what history you were a part of!!
