Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

LIfes lessons~ update

I have been sitting here for the past 15 minutes sobbing in tears all alone ... Jim is at work, Jamie just left for school & Brendan & Shelby are still sleeping so I decided to turn to all of you to dump my sorrows on...

As I told you a few months back, Jamie was chosen to be in District band playing Tuba..( this is a huge honor as they take only the best kids in the area) we were so proud of him. Well this past Saturday he had band practice, Jim took him & a few minutes after he left I receive a phone call from Jamie asking if I could find his music sheets... I was pretty angry at him not remembering to take them with him.. I start the hunt around the house & can't find them anywhere.. Jamie practices without them & then comes home & told me the band director was pretty mad at him & replied "How do you come to MUSIC practice without your music??" we have hunted everywhere & tore every piece of our house apart to find this book.. no luck..

Last night I was so frustrated I could not sleep over worrying over this & this AM Jamie dropped the bombshell on me.. He thinks that the band director will drop him off the district band squad & not allow him to participate if he can't find the music... I informed him that there was nothing his Dad or I could do & if that did happen it was Jamies own fault & a life lesson to be learned...

When he left this morning I burst into tears... I am frustrated with all 3 kids lack of responsiblity... It is not my job to keep track of his music & we have a special shelf in our living room to keep all school work (library books, music books etc) & the district band music should have been there... Jamie insists he took it to school earlier in the week for a Tuesday practice that the director cancelled but he thought he brought it home ( he did look in his locker on Saturday) so I'm at wits end... did he lose it on the bus? during classes? AARGH!! I'm going to be a basket case until he get home this afternoon wondering what happened with the band director.

Adding to my frustration is our weather.. it has been raining all morning with lots of snow predicted all day long ( & tomorrow) all schools in our area have a 2 hour delay BUT us.. I really hate driving my van in any kind of wet weather(it has a tedency to skid) so now I've got that worry as well....I have to get Brendan & Shelby to school & get to work!!

It has been a bad night.. last night as I was looking for the music I noticed my TV was dusty ( it's one of my pet peeves.. DUST) & when I cleaned it I noticed there were several large scratches on the screen.. called Jim to look at them & his immediate reaction was "Forget Disney in May!" which angered me... the TV is still watchable & the scratches appear to be able to be buffed out.. but Jim overreacts to most things

I have a feeling one of the kids hit the TV with something ( they are forever playing ball in the living room when I tell them not to) & scratched it up...
AARGH!!!! I just want to crawl back in bed & forget EVERYTHING.. or hop on a plane to WDW!!! ( don't I wish!!)

Thanks for letting me vent!!

Re: LIfes lessons

Ann, I can so relate! I get really frustrated with mine as well when they lose and break stuff. My DD is the worst about this! She picks stuff up and it just seems to disintegrate in her hands (in reality, she fiddles with stuff until it breaks). As for the lost music, it'll probably turn up in some weird place, like in the newspapers, or under the car seat, or in the laundry basket. Then the kids will just look sheepish and mumble sorry. I think we worry a lot more than they do sometimes. Could Jamie BUY new music and pay for it himself? If he trys to do this pretty quickly, maybe the band director will see that he's trying to accept the responsibility and not kick him off the team - after all - even ADULTS lose stuff from time to time. Good luck and hand loose. Parenthood - the TOUGHEST job you'll ever LOVE (at least most of the time)

I so know what you are talking about! If I had a nickel for everytime I have had to drive something to school that was forgotten (lunch money, homework, gym clothes)for one of my three boys, I would be able to go to Disney more often!
And it is raining here too and supposed to snow later. Blech!
Here are some pixies that all gets better for you!

Re: LIfes lessons

Ann, you need a hug
I can hear the frustration in your words. I'm sorry. Sounds like so many things are happening at once. Raising three children - I cannot imagine! I really hope your son finds his music and can stay on the band. As you said, it's not your job to keep up with his music - it can't be. I hope this will help him to become more responsible. (I am stunned by how seemingly incapable my 8-year-old is at keeping her things straight!)
Good luck and I hope this will all blow over. I can imagine the disappointment that washed over you when your husband made the WDW comment. That really added insult to injury
Take care of yourself and hang in there!

Re: LIfes lessons

Hope today gets better for you! And I the music will turn up. My oldest lost a library book at our old house. After I paid an exhorbitant (spelling?) amount to the library, we found it 3 YEARS later behing the fridge when we moved...have no idea how it got there! Hope the music turns up before than...and that should teach you a lesson about dusting...don't do it!

Sorry about your crummy day! Hope the music turns up or can be replaced without more grief. We have rain too and it makes me so much less able to cope when the weather is bad. It's tough when you want your kids to learn life's lessons, but also want to protect them from life's disappointments! Here's a and some
