As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: make your own t shirts
Here is the link to the Disney Ink Shop - a part of zazzle.com.
http://www.zazzle.com/collections/disneyinkshop/
I think a couple of people have reported problems getting items on time, but others have had good experiences.
Let us know if you use them!

Re: make your own t shirts
Disney Store on line has an area where you can make your own shirts as well. We did for your anniversary and they were great. Disney personalized shirts
We've also made our own using the computer and transfer paper. In fact, we'll be making ones for the group trip in Nov.

Re: make your own t shirts
Recently, I checked out zazzle.com. I ended up buying 11 different shirts! One for each of us who are going next June! I saved by using my Disney Visa. I ordered on Sept. 16th and received them on the 20th! They all look great too!
They have sizes up to 5XL I believe! I know they have them up to 4XL!
edited: these t-shirts are Hanes Beefy Tees if it makes any difference to you. It sure does to me! Hanes holds up so much better than say Fruit of the Loom!
edited AGAIN! I just opened the package up and WOW is all I have to say! Those shirts look awesome! I highly recommend the Chernabog(bat like monster villain from Fantasia)who is my ds's favorite character!

Re: make your own t shirts
Zazzle has some artwork that we love but you can't add your own message - just stock phrases. That's the main reason we order from Disney Store - ability to add up to 3 lines of our own text.
Glad to hear yours came out great!

Thanks!
i didn't think about that. I didn't add any names or numbers to any of ours. They certainly do have some cool artwork!! I just wish I could draw like that, I'd save a bundle that way!

Re: make your own t shirts
please be a little weary of zazzle.com- and DON'T order any sweatshirts/hoodies! i ordered a shirt from them (non-disney) in may, and it was great-looking, shipped really quick, etc. i was very satisfied so i decided to place a bigger order for my november trip (3 shirts, 3 hoodie sweatshirts). i had read on another message board that someone had trouble with them, and dismissed it because i had had a good experience with them the first time.
well, i placed my order on 8/22/04, received email confirmation of the order, etc. 2 weeks later i still hadn't heard anything from them about shipping.
i send them an email requesting info about the order (it says on their site that you will receive a reply within 1-12 hours). 2 days later, no response. i send another email (800# nowhere to be found on the site), 2 days later, no response. i finally find their actual phone number (long-distance) and call call call. you cannot wait on hold for a customer service rep for some reason- it says "...reps are all busy, please leave a message and someone will get back to you." needless to say, no one got back to me after 4 days of leaving messages.
at this point i will say that the hadn't charged my card, and that when i looked up the order status on their site, it said that my order was being "processed."
on 9/13/04, at 8:55PM, my cell phone rings and it's zazzle customer service asking if i have a moment. i say, "no, i have a naked child in a bath towel in my arms right now who needs to be put to bed. what are you doing calling at 9pm?" he apologized and said he would call me in the morning.
the next day i'm getting ready to call again when i pull up my order status and it says i have NO current orders!
so i'm calling/redialing them like i was trying to get Cindy's for breakfast or something. finally i get through to someone and after putting me on hold for 10 minutes after i gave him the order number, he tells me that they cancelled my order. just like that, without any rhyme or reason. when i demanded an explanation, he put me on hold again and then came back and said that the hoodies they use were out of stock and ultimately discontinued. so they cancelled my whole order (remember that i had 3 shirts too, not just hoodies). i was like, and was somebody going to ask me if i still wanted the shirts, or even tell me about the cancellation? he said that someone had called me to approve the cancellation and that i said yes. well you know i blew up, since that NEVER HAPPENED. i explained about the call at 9pm, he explained that they were in California and are open until 6pm, i said well the guy who called certainly didn't seem to mind too much that i couldn't talk at that moment, since he was only going to devote 5 minutes to my call. and then he wrote on the "log" that "the customer agreed to the cancellation and will call to verify." smart, huh? he knew i would call anyway since i would notice that my order was gone, so he made it look like he was done for the day.
well, it still took a week to fully cancel the order. a month total. i checked the site the other day, and they still have the hoodies as an option! i didn't go through the payment process though, maybe that's when they tell you that you can't get them. i was just playing with the designs, they're cute.
moral of the story: be on top of your order! and if you need their 800# or direct lines, PM me.
anyway, now i have an excuse to buy matching sweatshirts when i go to the grand opening of the NY World of Disney Store next week!

OMG! That is an aweful story! Glad it did work out in the end, even though that meant that you didn't get your shirts too!!

Re: make your own t shirts
For those who ordered from Disney, how long did it take to get your shirts? The web site says they ship in 3 weeks, but that may be cutting it a little close for a trip that's 4 weeks away. I should have been on the ball sooner!

Re: make your own t shirts
We got ours in two weeks. Don't know if that's standard but I've placed 3 orders at all different times of the year and always got them in 10-14 days.
You can request expedited delivery for an additional cost.

Re: make your own t shirts
Thanks for the answer, twofools! I'm afraid the only children's size they have now is large -- way too big for my birthday princess. Maybe I'll try making my own. (A scary thought for someone as "not-so-crafty" as me!)
