Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

kids\' sleeping places.
6 yr. old DD got into the shower about an hour ago. She was taking a long time, so I went to check. She was lying on the floor of the shower, sound asleep!
Where's the strangest place you have found your kid?

Re: kids\' sleeping places.
A few weeks ago I found my 4-year old daughter sleeping under the foosball table while her 17-year old brother and his best friend were playing a very loud game of foosball right above her.

Re: kids\' sleeping places.
That is hilarious! I can't think of any strange places. Mine have fallen asleep eating in the high chair and at church they just fall asleep on the floor and once in their special table with built in chairs.
My husband falls asleep in the shower every morning but not the kids.

Re: kids\' sleeping places.
The bottom of my entertainment center has a big open shelf. I'm always finding Alex under there with a pillow, fast asleep. Sometimes the cat joins him.

Re: kids\' sleeping places.
My son did that too! I was at work and my DH was home with my then 1 yr-old son. I ask DH about the baby's day and how things were going. As we talked I could hear the tone of his voice change and I asked him what was wrong. He said he couldn't find the baby and would call me right back. Well... he checked every room, the bathroom, the back yard, out front--no where. After 10 min. of searching he finnally found him in the bottom drawer of our Ent. Center, which the baby emptied, curled up asleep. I was about ready to drop everything at work and come home. It was a very long 10min.
But it sure did make a cute photo

Re: kids\' sleeping places.
When my DD was about 8, (she's 21 now) we went to a Bon Jovi concert she fell asleep with everyone yelling, the band playing, and just tons of noise. When she woke up she was very mad and wanted to know why we didn't wake her up (as if she could hear us). lol She did get to see most of the show. Barb

Re: kids\' sleeping places.
What a hoot! When DS was about 2 (he is 37 now!)we lived in an apartment. I got up for a drink of water one night and decided to tuck him in and I couldn't find him! The apt was very small so there wasn't much to check, but of course I checked the door to make sure it was locked and bolted. I was frantic. DH and I finally found him under his bed laying over the air conditioning vent (it was summer) way back in the corner of his room. And to this day he can sleep just about anywhere LOL!

Re: kids\' sleeping places.
Ok after reading more post something struck a memory of another strange place that I slept when I was younger and I just had to add it to the list. When I was about 6 years old we were staying at my dad's friend's house and I don't know why but I decided to sleep in the closet. I didn't have to but I just decided that is where I wanted to sleep

Re: kids\' sleeping places.
1) In the toy box. She had emptied enough toys out so she could fit comfortably in there.
2) In a laundry basket, with the clothes arranged on top of her so I couldn't see her very well. I panicked looking for her until I saw her little foot at the bottom of the basket.

Re: kids\' sleeping places.
my dd (7) has slept everywhere but her favorite place is on our 4 year old labrador.
I do have another to add, it is not a sleeping place but when my brother was little and was supposed to be sleeping, he used to break out of his room and leave the house to remove the worms from the puddles in our driveway. now this was all when my parents were asleep too so my mom tried locking him in, didn't work - he found a way to get that open so then she harnessed him to his toddler bar and that didn't work either, he just took it with him!!!!!!!!! it came down to my poor mother never sleeping as she would stay up most the night because he kept escaping.
p.s. he used to take those worms and put them in our dryer. they needed to get dried off and not sure why a simple towel wouldn't do but that is a 2 year old for you!!
he would kill me now if he found out I told all of you this!

Re: kids\' sleeping places.
Standing up! When Jalen was 2, he got out of bed to go join his brother but didn't quite make it. When I checked on them before I went to bed, there was Jalen with his chest and head on the bed and his feet firmly planted on the floor next to the bed. It was so cute. My kids baby books are full of pictures of them sleeping.

Re: kids\' sleeping places.
One night when my youngest brother was 2 ( he just turned 34) my mom got up to check on him and he wasn't in the crib. She was frantic, going from room to room calling his name. She finally found him sound asleep under his crib. We didn't know he had figured out how to climb out of it.
When he was older, 6-7, she'd send him up to bed. More nights than not, we'd find him sound asleep at the top of the stairs .
